  1. Isn't lunardi pretty awful at this though? I mean he gets most of the teams right, but he's not all that accurate. He's awful. We destroy him every year and our work consists of some PM's and like 4 hours of research per committee member for a week. :(

    MONEY

Chuck just picked Peavy. Did he pay yet?

    MONEY

It's allegedly Chuck's turn now, if he hasn't paid does he get the full 40 hours to get his payment in and make his selection?

  5. The draft already started. Deven is on the clock.
  6. They have to be. Right? It's March now. #1 in the polls is meaningless. At this point, it's all about whether Gonzaga deserves a 1 seed in the tourney.
  7. Oh yeah, why is the most recognizable Catholic school in the country not going to play in this conference? Because they already agreed to join the ACC?
  8. Xavier and Butler are going to join the new Big East (the one with the catholic 7). Creighton rumored to be the 10th team for the conference, which would begin play next season.
  9. Ohhhh, that Jackson. Well, it would be kind of nice to get our own Dave Duncan type thing going on.
  10. I don't think it can be overstated just how terrible the organizational development was under the past regime. Just an average developmental organization should be able to produce some more positive results overall, they don't have to be supercoaches to be an improvement.
  11. You're allowed to discuss the quality of all teams besides Texas, which just means you can't bring up Texas in at-large discussions. ...which means that Texas is done in at-large discussions.
  12. Are we sure we want a drunk guy running the bracket selection committee? Yes. Yes we do. EDIT: Oh, wait, I see what I did wrong. I fixed it now.

  14. Peer pressure, America's greatest motivator. :)
  15. We're a Pac-12 rep away from having full major conference representation here.... ....rather, we're a MWC rep away from having full major conference representation here.
  16. Just me, it's volunteer work for everyone else...
  17. As usual, I'm repping Illinois (who has a far better resume than many think this year).
  18. It's that time of year again. Time for the 10th (holy *!) annual mock tournament selection committee, during which we'll do a mock version of the tournament selection process. Anyone is free to participate if they are able, but please make sure you'll be able to participate regularly between Wednesday and Sunday of selection week (during the actual selection process), or at the very least be able to submit 1-3 lists of teams per day during that period. The actual committee consists of 10 members, so if we can get close to that number, the process will more closely resemble reality (rather than the combined feelings of a couple folks). To participate, by midnight (CST) Tuesday, March 12, send (PM) me 4 things: 1) Your favorite team (the team you'll "represent"). During the selection process, you will not be allowed to include this team in any lists, to maintain as much of a sense of fairness as possible. This mirrors the real committee, as a committee member may not be involved in any discussion for a team in his conference (we'd do that here, but 95% of the populace is Big Ten, so nobody would ever be able to discuss them) 2) A list of cold, hard locks for the tournament, no further discussion needed, no matter what they do in the remainder of their games. This can be any number of teams up to a max of 37 (there are 37 at-large bids this year, no more than that can be locks, right?) 3) A list of teams that deserve consideration for the tournament, besides the locks. 4) A list of your top 16 teams, in order (not including the team you represent, obv) Some good resources: Pomeroy ratings Sagarin ratings RPI Basketball State (costs money after a few page views, but tons of info) Basketball Prospectus Team Rankings (occasionally a bit full of their numbers, but they do have a lot of numbers) Current S-Curve (16): 1. Indiana 2. Duke 3. Louisville 4. Gonzaga (WCC) 5. Kansas 6. Michigan State 7. Michigan 8. Georgetown ... 61. Big Sky (Weber State) 62. America East (Vermont) 63. James Madison (CAA) 64. Western Kentucky (Sun Belt) 65. MEAC (NC Central) 66. LIU Brooklyn (NEC) 67. SWAC (Southern) 68. Liberty (Big South) Next 12 vote: Arizona Florida Kansas State Marquette Miami New Mexico Ohio State Oklahoma State Pittsburgh St. Louis Syracuse Wisconsin Other auto bids/potential one-bid leagues (13): Florida Gulf Coast (A-Sun) Big West (Pacific) Valparaiso (Horizon) Harvard (Ivy) Iona (MAAC) MAC (Akron) Creighton (MVC) Belmont (OVC) Bucknell (Patriot) Southland (SF Austin) Davidson (SoCon) South Dakota State (Summit) WAC (Denver) At-Large locks (15): Butler Cincinnati Colorado State Illinois Memphis Minnesota Missouri North Carolina North Carolina State Notre Dame Oklahoma San Diego State UCLA UNLV VCU Consideration (25 teams for 3 to 12 available bids): Air Force Akron Alabama Arizona State Arkansas Baylor Boise State California Colorado Denver Iowa Iowa State Kentucky La Salle Maryland Middle Tennessee Mississippi Oregon St. Mary's Stanford Temple Tennessee Villanova Virginia Wichita State NEXT STEP: 1) Rank the "Next 12 vote" teams in order. 2) Rank the lowest 8 among locks and auto bids (probably mostly one bid leagues) 3) Rank the next 12 best teams from among the teams left in the locks, auto bids, or consideration 4) Rank the remaining 25 teams in the consideration pool 5) Start the bracketing process, including regions and pods for the top 8 and bottom 8. Keep the bracketing rules in mind. This can be done just with thread discussion today.
  19. Scoscia's Tragic Illness
  20. Yeah, if this were an 82 game season, they'd be on pace for 151 points. :) As is, they're on pace for 88 points.
  21. King knows nothing.
  22. Vin Scully appears to be in late 90's Harry Caray form.
  23. To put it in perspective, Columbus isn't on pace to record 15 wins this season.
  24. They were already way out on the bubble, there was just an argument that they could be playing their way into consideration if they didn't take any more bad losses and stole a good win or two. So much for that, though.
  25. TCU's starting five just scored their first point...a minute into the second half.
