  1. Definitely. Beat Panama and Jamaica on the road and get four home wins puts us at 18, which has been more than enough to qualify for each of the last four Cups (since the Hex started). Worst case scenario of a home draw v Mexico and winless on the road with 4 draws and a loss in Mexico would still put them at 17, which should still keep them in the top 4.
  2. Especially since CR is likely to get a free 3 points from Mexico in a meaningless final game for them.
  3. Feelings on where the USMNT would be after this first set of 3 qualifiers: 0-1 points: They aren't finishing top 4 2-3 points: That last match in Panama is going to mean more than it should 4 points: Good shape to qualify 5-6 points: Great shape to qualify 7-9 points: HA-HAAAAAA!
  4. According to Wahl, it's so that the temp stays warm during the game. An alternative theory is that the city they're playing in is the most dangerous city in the world, and it's safer to play in the day time.
  5. Gus Johnson calling the action for the Quakes this past year: http://www.sjearthquakes.com/news/2012/04/listen-gus-johnson-highlights-2-1-win-vs-union
  6. Because you can't be on the cover of a video game and still be in college...
  7. Happy to see Timmy Chandler on the list, though.
  8. Nate Robinson: NBA player of the week.
  9. This article from Dave Cameron probably has the best description on why pitcher W-L is stupid that I've ever read: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/what-war-is-good-for/ EDIT: Also, why WAR is growing in popularity so much.
  10. They doubled up Calgary in hits. And got completely outplayed.
  11. $10 per team good enough to cover it, or were there additional fees and crap that you'd need more?
  12. Hard to argue with your first three. I'm not as sold on Louisville though. I think Louisville just has too much talent and will put it together when the time comes. Indiana/Michigan should be fun. I hate that the game in Ann Arbor is the last B10 game of the season. I feel like it will be overshadowed by the B1G and NCAA tourneys (which is maybe a good thing if UM doesn't win). I'd rather this one be at Michigan. Oh well. I think its pretty well determined that the committee looks at the last handful of games maybe even moreso than conf tourneys. I'd rather this game be in Ann Arbor too as if IU loses they are probably done in the B1G race. I'd rather lose there than at home at this point. At least would still have a shot with a home game at the end even with a road loss this week. On the contrary, the committee has explicitly stated that recent games have no more weight than early games in the selection process.
  13. What, you're not convinced that a 5 point home win over the worst team in the West is a sign that the Lakers have turned it around?
  14. If the organization is looking to improve efficiency, the team physical process is a good place to start.
  15. They beat the Lakers at home just last week.
  16. Kevin Pelton, columnist for Basketball Prospectus and statistician for the Pacers, just got hired on full time at ESPN to take over for John Hollinger. So, who do the Pacers get in the 3-way deal?
  17. Yay, Mexican group matches again (probably).
  18. Since '07, the Kings have been at, or near the bottom of the league in attendance, and even then they were just middle of the pack. Not the same as the Cubs at all. http://espn.go.com/nba/attendance So, more like the Blackhawks. Here's an interesting perspective on the matter, an open letter from a Kings fan to the Maloofs: http://t.co/nqSTnFRD
  19. But this just isnt true. He was the OC for both the 49ers and Raiders transition from Glory to Joke and then OC'd a horrendous NC State team. Who knows whats been going on in the CFL, the only CFL I have ever seen is when they show it during beer or tv commercials because they cant get NFL rights. His worst season at San Fran, they finished 12-4. His tenure at the Raiders included their only Super Bowl appearance in the past 30 years and their only MVP of the past 25 years. Even the most hate filled meatball would have to admit that counts as successful.
  20. @realrobertmays: Hey Eagles fans. How many Grey Cups has your coach won? Yeah...that's what I thought.
  21. You should write for CBS sports.
  22. What a meatball he pretty much hit on all of the meatball things except for calling for ditka to be rehired. I'm pretty sure he just tried to pick a fight with Canada.
  23. The difference is you reform a CFL offensive line simply with the dregs of the football world who can't make it in the NFL. The Bears have been dealing with everybody else's dregs, and their own busts, for a while now. We were told Mike Tice was a wunderkind of an NFL offensive line coach. We were told he would come in here immediately and get results simply by being such a great line coach. You're projecting quite a bit here. At least they're bluntly aware of the real offensive issue at this time.
  24. Is it just me, or is every single CBS sports writer a raging meathead? meatball. if he were a meathead he'd call trestman a little dweeb. That was kinda how the tone of the article came off. Between Dodd, Parrish, Goodman, Freeman, Judge, and Frisco, it seems like CBS is trying to build a team of sports writers that can beat up other places' sports writers and steal their lunch money.
  25. Is it just me, or is every single CBS sports writer a raging meathead?
