  1. *video frozen with tag on with Springers hand a foot from the plate* "Man, it's the closest play I've ever seen"
  2. I mean, they are 2 of 5 in the series. This is not an issue
  3. If the Fox announcers were actually paying attention, they would realize the Cubs are doing exactly what makes their offense so tough. Even when they aren't making solid.contact, they are all extending ABs, even Baez, and a pitcher that has been seemingly cruising may not get through 6.
  4. Extended abs from Baez and Fowler has the Astros pitcher at 92 pitches through 5.
  5. Today's game starts in 3 hours, so somebody wake up tree.
  6. Rockies can no longer catch the Cubs, meaning they need to clinch past another 3 teams to clinch a playoff spot.
  7. An argument could be made that the Packers,Vikings and Lions are the best 3 teams on the schedule this season.
  8. I mean, if Miggy can establish himself as a sort of Daryle Ward-type lefty power bat off the bench, he's a valuable piece of the roster.
  9. Anyone who gives up on any game after 1 inning should really just sit back and enjoy the ride a bit more for a team like this.
  10. He gave up a homer on the first pitch. I have no faith in him as a reliever either. Do you think a starters potential ability as a reliever is related to how they do in the first inning of starts? Remember who you're talking to. Any sample size bigger than the previous 3 pitches need not apply.
  11. Go Pirates and Marlins, I guess? At this point, it's basically a 90% chance that the wild card game will consist of two of the Giants/Cards/Mets. Half of the remaining 10% is that the Giants catch the Dodgers.
  12. This has all the makings of a surprise paper tiger playoff team that gets trounced in the first round by a coasting Seattle wild card team.
  13. Dozier has a legitimate chance to set the all time single season record for HR as a 2B, which is currently 42 by Rogers Hornsby in 1922.
  14. The Cubs are a Super team, and Super teams win the World Series: http://www.si.com/mlb/2016/09/06/chicago-cubs-record-postseason-world-series
  15. If the Cubs win today, it'll be the first time since 1930 that they won 90 games in back to back seasons.
  16. Clinched a better record than the Phillies and Angels, which ends the list of teams that weren't actually trying this year. (OK, the Dbacks tried, but...no.)
  17. I kind of want to see Heyward win it here.
  18. [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]
  19. So after yesterday's results, it looks like the Hex will be USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, and Honduras, unless Canada makes up a 5 GD on Honduras by beating up on El Salvador while Honduras loses to Mexico.
  20. Cubs have now put together two separate 25-6 runs this season, wrapping around a 37-35 middle of the season.
  21. Brewers eliminated from NL Central contention before they play a game in September. A's and Rays also guaranteed to finish behind the Cubs.
  22. Sure, they can have Lucroy...but no other position is really close aside from the OF...and that's actually close. As for the rotation being even.......if you line up all the starters by xFIP, you get 5 Cubs before you hit a Ranger.
