  1. I thought MLB was going to punish the Padres.
  2. they're still trying to find the best role for him. so far the role in which he has look best is "not pitching in the baseball game." He's largely looked good as a starter, but it's a nice hot take.
  3. 7 year olds Dude My kid would have quit. She hates losing This is part of why it's important to keep score at young ages. Learning that losing is a thing that happens and doesn't mean the game isn't worth playing.
  4. Because it's not a practice and kids need to learn that winning and losing is part of the game.
  5. It's an instructional league, 10-0 is already well past the point of needing to back off. In fact, in the league I coach, if the score reaches even 7-0 by half, there is no second half.
  6. I wonder if MLB considers this an official clinch or if they even realize or care. Because technically no matter what outcome occurs the rest of the season, the Cubs will own a playoff spot. So it should be official, right? Yes, at worst the Cubs would play a division tiebreaker game in St. Louis, and a loss would still earn a wild card berth.
  7. Cubs have clinched a better record than the Royals and Astros, two teams expected to be World Series contenders in the AL this year.
  8. Cubs clinch a playoff spot!
  9. Technically, since the Cards play 4 with the Giants and the Cubs combined magic #s with the two would be less than 4, the Cubs would clinch a playoff spot with a win today.
  10. I mean, Hendricks pitched well two days ago.
  11. The Cubs have 8 of the top 30 NL players in fWAR as of this morning. The Padres, Brewers and Phillies have none.
  12. As of this morning, the Cubs have 8 of the top 30 NL players in fWAR. Plus Lackey lurking not too far behind at 3.0.
  13. Cubs should PH for Hendricks, because screw Cards mind games
  14. I'm glad the greetings thing caught on, or else I would've just looked like an idiot.
  15. Next question, how far down the list of players do you have to go before you hit one towards whom you feel disapproval or indifference? For me, it's 22.
  16. exactly how i feel. would hate losing to them most, but compared to having to face madbum or thor (granted they should only have to face them once), i'll take their guys. That reminds me...maybe I'm just nitpicking at this point but what the hey, he also mentioned that Carlos Martinez has quietly turned into one of the NL's top 10 pitchers. WAR - 2.8 (18th in NL, behind 4 different Cubs starters) xFIP - 3.95 (19th in NL) FIP - 3.65 (14th in NL) ERA - 3.05 (12th in NL) K/9 - 7.56 (19th in NL) BB/9 - 3.26 (27th in NL, slightly ahead of Jake Arrieta) He is very good at HR suppression though, 2nd in the NL at 0.63 HR/9 and leads baseball in GB% at 57.2%, but those don't seem like top 10 pitcher in NL stats overall. Maybe he's one of the top 10 pitchers in the NL Central. Also he's 21st in fWAR, also behind Jansen, Kershaw and Matt though they don't have qualified innings.
  17. I can only include 30 so I decided between Schwarber and Joe Smith, and Smith lost. Vote up to 5.
  18. Sure, the Division races are all but over, but there are still 3 teams vying for 2 wild cards in the NL, and 7 teams vying for two wild cards in the AL.
  19. Greetings from beautiful Warrenville, IL !!! Go CUBS !!
  20. Cubs have clinched a better record than the Pirates and Marlins, meaning they need to officially clinch past one more NL team to clinch a playoff spot.
  21. I'm a little amused the Cubs managed to run it up on the Astros so fast that Correa's return is done after 1 PA and one touch on defense.
  22. Cubs have clinched a better record than the White Sox. But the Sox are totally right there with the Cubs, and their third baseman is right there with the Cubs third baseman except for defense, baserunning, discipline, and hitting.
  23. this isn't a thing teamwide offensive momentum isn't a thing this is baseball and streaks happen from time, both good and bad, for no reason in particular I think the RISP struggles are worth a concern. And that is why you are regarded as a reactionary spaz.
  24. Fox announcers acting like Edwards is just now being introduced to high leverage situations.
