    Well I'm glad I didn't listen to the SIU game on the radio. Our season came to an end as we lost 20-3. But get this--our QB threw only FOUR passes in three quarters. Absolutely disgusting. We deserved to lose that game with crappy playcalling like that. We probably have the best RB in all of I-AA in the backfield, but you can not have playcalling that one-sided and expect to win a game. sigh...

    SIU beat a good Saint Louis squad, 65-56. Saint Louis plays UNC at STL in a couple of weeks and I wouldn't be surprised if they give UNC a game. Our D really took away their big guy and our offense actually had a good game as well. This game probably should've been a blowout but the refs absolutely SUCKED. Out of all of the college games that I have been to, these refs were by far the worst refs I think I have ever seen. It's a miracle that we nearly won by double digits. SIU has a week off before we go to Western Kentucky next Saturday.

    While Marquis is cheap, there is no way in hell that I would want him near my team. I'd rank Suppan, Batista, and Meche all above him. Other than that though, your list is good.

    Not if you're willing to pay 9 to 10 million per year. Padilla for 9 to 10 million a year or Lilly/Meche for say 8 million? I'll take my chances with Padilla.

    He's better than Gil Meche. Ted Lilly is not a good pitcher. And how is he a better option than Gil Meche? They both are middle of the road pitchers; maybe even slightly below average. But look at the stats. Lilly is a bit better than Meche. I know you want Meche because of the "promise" he has, but the guy isn't getting any younger. Like I said in my last post, I'd easily rather have Padilla over either of these two.

    I saw it on TV down here; it was on FSN Midwest. We played a great 1st period, a decent 2nd period, and a pretty bad 3rd, but thankfully we came out with a W. The Blues were in complete control in the 3rd and Savard went to a "play it safe" strategy in the final period. It didn't really work considering the Blues got the lead down to 3-2 before we made a couple of empty netters to salt the Blues away. A win over Nashville at Nashville would be impressive. Havlat is due back on Tuesday as well.

    What the heck is so attractive about a Bears/Bucs game? Everyone knows that the Bucs haven't won a game in freezing weather in countless years. I doubt that's going to change in a few weeks. There has to be some other game that they can go to. Oh yeah, the Packers-49ers game :wink: Except for the fact that in 2002 they beat the Bucs in frozen Champaign and the Eagles in freezing Philly in the NFC championship game en route to the Super Bowl Does that actually count? They were playing a team that had Henry Burris as the quarterback. Henry Burris. Seriously though, that was a pretty special team that year and I did forget about that game against the Eagles. There's no way that this year's Bucs team will go into Soldier Field and win. I'd put a good chunk of money on it.

    Well the Hornets were without 3 of their top 4 scorers as well. Plus we made Rasual Butler look like Kobe out there. Don't get me wrong, I like winning, but the lulls that this team seems to fall into throughout periodical stages during games is pretty annoying. Good news is that we have an extended homestand coming up where we can make up a ton of ground.

    I'm not too pleased at all with the finish of this one. We had an EIGHTEEN point lead and we nearly blew it. That should not happen at all. Not counting the Knicks games, look at the points allowed by our D in the last seven games: 108, 123, 112, 82, 100, 101, 111. That is brutal and not good for a team that is supposed to have the "best defense in the NBA." It's nice to see the offense doing well lately, but if we want to go anywhere this season, we are going NEED the defense to improve greatly.

    I agree his plate discipline is what he needs to work on the most. He really needs to learn at how to lay off the low and away breaking ball. Once he learns how to take that pitch instead of chasing it, I think he will definitely become a much more dangerous hitter. If the Sox were to land Figgins, I could see Figgins becoming the starting LF. I'm pretty sure Anderson was an untouchable last year at the trading deadline and I'm pretty sure that Williams is extremely high on Anderson. He'd have to be blown away with a deal to trade him IMO. Every possible scenario of the White Sox upgrading the OF, involves Anderson becoming a 4th OF'er. Phil Rogers had the odd thought of White Sox going after Vizquel by offering Anderson/Sweeney and Uribe to SF. His value might've taken a greater hit than his talent dictates. Personally, I think Anderson/Sweeney and Uribe is too much to give up to SF for a guy that more than likely will only play one more year. I just think an OF of Podesdnik/Figgins/Dye would definitely not be that strong of a hitting OF. I'd much rather have Anderson start over Podsednik if they were to land Figgins.

    I think he'll be alright. He was pretty good in July/August last year IIRC. He hit close to .290 in the 2nd half of the season. I think the Sox would be foolish to trade away Anderson. I think he's going to become a real solid OF in the years to come.

    I don't think the trade was THAT bad considering Milwaukee later traded Carlos Lee. It worked well for both teams in 05, well at least the first half of 05. Podsednik really hasn't been the same ever since he had that groin injury back at around the midway point of the 05 season. He's definitely not the same player on the basepaths that he used to be.
