  1. Hopefully it turns out to be that needed learning experience for a young team blah blah blah. Beating SMU & Pitt is pretty nice considering our front-court limitations. Let's be honest, IU has enough firepower to beat just about anybody any given day. It's the inconsistency that will be the problem IMO. They've got tons of shooting from those guards. And the guards didn't do that much last night, which was the surprising thing. At one point, Johnson, Ferrell and Blackmon had combined for 13 points and the team had a 16 point lead. They got so many layups. Big contributions from Holt, Perea (points wise), and the white guys.
  2. That's actually as probable as any long-shot scenario could possibly be. Arizona is probably favored this week, but if they lose they'll likely be underdogs the final 3 weeks. Dallas just got blown out by Philly and the Colts can score with anyone. Switch Dallas w/ Niners, Philly w/ Seattle, and Chargers w/ Colts and the same holds true for #4.
  3. I'd love to see it. But my thinking is that it would be really effective with completely contrasting talents/repitoires. Like CJ Edwards may never throw 7 innings or start 25 times, but him 1.5-2 times thru a lineup for 75-80 pitches followed by a guy like Wada could be successful. Same with Pierce Johnson actually, if he's going to walk people but be unhittable and rack up a ton of pitches like he did this year.
  4. Why? Not that he was anything special. But Wright was a solid reliever last year. Never seemed like he really got a shot in close/late situations last year, but he was good whenever he went out there. Don't understand.
  5. How did this team loss to Eastern Washington? Getting in Pitt's ass.
  6. Yeah, about 99% of my friends are either Cowboys, Giants, Steelers, or 49ers fans if they aren't Bears fans. At this point, I'm hoping for bragging rights by beating all 4 in the last 2 years.
  7. I believe Muschamp is Auburn's first choice, but they will be competing with A&M, FSU, and potentially the NFL for his services. It's definitely not a slam dunk. I'm hearing that South Carolina is another option and Muschamp could take over eventually (soon) for the ol' ball coach. I'm just assuming Auburn will get it done as they can make a move now, before NFL teams will have a chance to offer him. A&M is an option (also fired DC) but I think Auburn is more attractive.
  8. I'm pleased to see they acted swiftly on this. I'm not sure if it will be Muschamp, but it would be great to get the new guy in place quickly so he can begin installing his defense and hit the recruiting trail. It will be. Answer to Bama hiring Kiffin.
  9. Is that why I can't find any more [expletive] five dollar subs other than the "veggie delight" and gross ass cold cut? Subway is fooling themselves if they think they have any sandwich appeal other than cheap as hell. It's like little Caesars charging more for their [expletive] pizza. Dibella's doe! Or Jimmy Johns, or Panera, or Au Bon Pain, or any mom and pop sandwich joint.
  10. Ugh. Now I'm at the point where I don't think anyone is good enough. Would have love to have seen Ohio St in the playoff. But Wisconsin will probably win that game. Arizona has a good chance of beating Oregon again, but IDK. Bama will win. Florida St vs. Georgia Tech could be interesting. GT won't make the mistakes (INTs) that allow FSU to get back or stay in the game if they start slow for the 89th game in a row. If all those teams lose....what happens? Alabama, TCU, Arizona, Baylor?
  11. I prefer my stars to make me hate them on the way out. Less painful that way.
  12. Speculation is Boston, Atlanta or St Louis. Id put that in the order of likelihood.
  13. Didn't Urlacher go out with a groin injury too? Fitting. I doubt he ever plays another NFL snap. Sad to see him (and Urlacher) go out this way, but its hard to root for an [expletive] who is no longer good.
  14. A large part of me really wants to see classic Romo vs. classic Cutler in this game. I want to see both guys throw for like 340 with 3 TDs and 3 INTs and a fumble each with throws that are just absolutely ridiculously bad.
  15. Id sign and draft a player each at LB and S. Id also add an experienced young CB that can play nickel or move Jennings to nickel. Ideal scenario would be something like: KJ Wright from Seattle. Someone like Jeron Johnson from Seattle or Delmas or another young free agent S. Doesn't have to be a star. Then a Kyle Wilson, Walter Thurmond or Buster Skrine at CB (Thurmond is out with a torn ACL). In the draft, Shaq Thompson and Cody Prewitt or Gerod Holliman and Kendricks with the first 2 picks. Then you can play Wright at MLB, with Jones and Bostic competing at SLB. Thompson Weakside. Shea can be worked in too. At DB, Fuller, Jennings and Skrine are the nickel group while Mundy, Prewitt, Johnson and Vereen compete at S. Id cut Mundy if he doesn't start at SS and sub in whoever is not staying at FS for him in nickel if he is on the team.
  16. Yeah should be picking between 9-13. Definitely will lose 1-2 more at least and finish 7-9 or 8-8
  17. I think DE is a more important need than just "depth" with questions on how good Houston will be when he returns and Allen is aging and middling (has he had a good game against a starter this year besides Matt Kalil who clearly shouldn't be starting?). Post flu he's been a factor at least. Probably more than any defender, not that it's says much. Yea I'm willing to keep an optimistic view after he can put some muscle back on- we're stuck with him anyways next year. A dynamic pass rusher is basically a no brainier if available, but if there isn't one I think we can roll with the current DLine group as the back 7 is in much worse shape. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk My thinking exactly. The Bears have too many other needs to go after a DE the year after getting 3 of them. Allen has been decent enough lately that u think he could give the Bears something next year provided he doesn't lose several pounds from an illness. Not too worried about Houston's knee. He should come back fine. And I think Washington and Bass have shown enough in flashes to be 4th and 5th DEs. Gonna have to wait a year on DE unless you have one fall in your lap.
  18. So, the Bears need: 2 safeties (could get away with 1 if Vereen takes a huge step forward) 2 LBs (could get away with 1 if they get an absolute stud LB somehow) CB RT OC (can't assume DeLaPuente there when he's only played 3 games there and will wind up not playing 1/2 the season) WR/KR (I don't think it's a big deal, but clearly they want a speedy guy who can return and stretch the field) And that doesn't include depth needed at TE, DL, backup QB.
  19. Went from bringing back all 5 guys from a good OL to needing a RT, C, LT and LG all within the next 2 offseason, the first 2 needed ASAP.
  20. No. 0 chance Emery gets fired. Id put it at 65/35 at worst that Trestman stays too.
  21. No instincts on the back 7. Staying in their zones when there is nobody there. Gotta know where the receivers are.
  22. Wow. Hurst has no clue. Jumping invisible routes.
  23. We need a secondary coach.
