  1. Yeah, a huge difference from last year was that Jeffery (and Marshall to a lesser extent) were catching bad throws all year. If it was 50/50, they came down with it. They aren't making those catches for the most part and dropped the easy ones more than they should (which is next to never). Forte was a good pass blocker until Week 16 last year, and he's terrible at it now. Bushrod is bad now. Bennett does a lot of terrible things. Went from one of the most talented offenses to a bunch of question marks and didnt change a single starter.
  2. He was probably a top 7 CB in the league for 2 years.
  3. Ola saved Trestman from a terrible idea of going for it and potentially giving Detroit enough time to score at least a FG with great field position and 3 TOs.
  4. Ha. Trestman, it's you!
  5. I thought he did Monday night. But he didn't get charged with one when he clearly blew a block.
  6. Eh. Not really. Cutler is already seen as having a ticking clock on his way out of town. The next coach is probably in the best situation ant Bears coach with Cutler has been in. He wins with Cutler, he's a genius. Loses, Cutler is gone and he gets his own QB pick. Basically the next coach will outlast Cutler. Either by being the best coach ever and outlasting beyond Cutler's retirement or by Cutler getting traded/cut.
  7. Im officially on the Todd Bowles train. He has ties to some decent offensive minds.
  8. Of course, Schefter is saying that Tennessee is already doing their homework on Cutler and the Bears will definitely be able to trade him.
  9. "@JasonLaCanfora: Jay Cutler likely to be back in Chicago... but with a different head coach and staff: http://t.co/oJ2n7L9Bt3"
  10. The 2nd is too valuable, I think - especially if we use the 1st to get Mariota after the trade. Id think the strategy would be to trade #1 and get a Redskins like haul for the pick.
  11. You are being a gigantic meatball about all of this. Didnt earn his contract? What are you talking about? Plenty people around the league thought it was a bad contract and it looks worse now. I don't have a problem with the contract, but Im on record of saying I would've franchised him. He definitely earned the deal with his performance in years past, but the season before getting that contract he missed several games as had previously been a problem. Based on the things Emery laid out Cutler had to do to get an extension, he didn't really do.
  12. Id give Mettenberger and a 3rd consideration. If only because that 3rd pick would be about 70th or so. Id prefer 2nd, Mettenberger and a 5th for Cutler and our 4th.
  13. So yeah, IU beat Butler. This team isn't that bad at all. I finally think they may be a tourney team if they have a solid conference season. 9-9 would probably be good enough.
  14. The best report to come out this week was saying that the Bears seriously thought about moving on from Cutler in the offseason. How do you say, "Ok let's either get rid of him or give him 135 million dollars." Incompetence at its finest.
  15. If Emery is allowed to pay Cutler a contract that he didn't really earn and then essentially pay someone else to pay Cutler that contract, then he deserves to literally die.
  16. Pay to get rid of Cutler. Makes sense.
  17. Cubs win the Craig Breslow sweepstakes by him signing a 1-year, $2 million deal with the Red Sox.
  18. Ironically, that's the same number of times he went to class in Memphis too.
  19. If the Bears trade Cutler, they only lose his BASE salary off their books (for this year and every year he plays under the contract). They are still on the hook for the bonus money. He has like 18 Mil guaranteed left on his contract, with 12.5 of that being base salary. So, the Bears have to eat that difference. It's just like if they cut him they would have to pay him all of the guaranteed money (18.5), except someone else is agreeing to take on the base salary. The new team would not be accountable for the signing bonus because obioiusly they didn't sign him.
  20. Tennessee was rumored to be first in line to try and sign Jay if the Bears let him become a free agent before this season. They've always made the most sense because of Cutler's ties to Nashville and Whisenhunt, who is a good QB guy and plays to veteran strenghts, but hasn't had a lot of success with young QBs. But if Cutler does go to TN, don't expect that #2 pick to come back. I think best case you get their 2nd. I probably wouldn't accept any less (along with another pick).
  21. I would live with it but would not think highly of the team's chances. Yeah, I'm with you. Shanahan could maybe be respectable for a couple years. But I wouldn't expect this team to be a championship contender under him. And it would be just buying time til a new regime. Basically. Plus Shannahan would probably be a GM/coach candidate and I think I'd rather keep those roles separate. I'm liking Hue Jackson still but I think I'm really convincing myself Philbin would be a great OC for us if fired, but won't come work under another offensive coach, and it's not like our defense couldn't use help with a strong HC hire there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I really want a re-tread coach, I think. And I think I want a defensive minded coach. Either way, whoever the coach is will have to come with a very strong coordinator on the opposite side of the ball. I can't believe I'm starting to like the thought of Rex Ryan coaching the Bears.
