  1. Holy Crap! What a pitching day!
  2. Felix is the most talented pitcher I've seen since Gooden. I watched last night to see Dice K, but I knew all along that Felix would outshine him. He had the patented sophomore slump last year and was overweight. I tried to pick him up in all my fantasy leagues because I saw this coming. He has a ways to go before he's as good as Zambrano or Santana, but he has better stuff than both. I don't think I've ever seen anyone throw a 12-6 curve and a 90 mph slider. His slider is faster than about 75% of the fastballs in the MLB.
  3. So, the Bears who lost 3 home games the last 2 years combined (one of which was the meaningless season ender vs. GB), are gonna lost 3 this year? Unless something disasterous happens, the Bears should win: Oakland, 2 vs. Det, and at least 1 vs. Minnesota and GB. That's 5. The Chargers, Saints, and Eagles games are all gonna be tough, but I think the games to watch out for are the game at Green Bay, at Washington on a Thursday after Sunday, and home vs. the Broncos, who I see as a tough matchup for the Bears, as they have 2 great CBs, solid vs. the run and offensively they run the ball well and Javon Walker will give the Bears trouble.
  4. 7-14 with 2 walks to start the season is great and all, but my biggest worry with Felix has always been his ability to hit for extra bases. Worries gone for at least a day.
  5. If Afflalo is there when the Bulls pick (their actual pick, not the pick from the Knicks), I'd love them to draft Afflalo. Raja Bell is a great comparison too.

    Week 2

Pitching important? Urinal Cakes- 58.35 pitching points (50.35 for 2 starts) Raw Dawgs- 43.5 pitching points (28.25 for 2 starts) I lead by 13, thanks to a 49 to 21.25 offensive advantage.
  7. To all good college players, except DJ White: GO PRO!
  8. That's the 2nd day in a row someone has been right about that.
  9. 7-14 with 2 walks to start the season is great and all, but my biggest worry with Felix has always been his ability to hit for extra bases.
  10. I don't think the dollars are nearly as big of a problem as the years. Hendry's tendency to go 3-years with non stud relievers is just maddening. Even the studs aren't sure bets. Hawkins is what I would consider a stud reliever, before he came to the Cubs. Remlinger probably could be considered a stud too, based on his 2 prior years, but he was turning 38. There's not a reliever in the game today I can say I know will be still great in 3 years, except BJ Ryan and Papelbon, who would be wasted in that role.
  11. What about Eyre was good last year? ERA? K/9? His peripherals sucked last year to a Dempsteresque level. He was extremely lucky in 2006.
  12. I was on record 2 years ago of wanting 1 FA reliever. I didn't want Eyre, who has been bad as a Cub. His WHIP and inherited runners scored rivals Dempster's from last year. Howry was a decent signing. But the Cubs have Howry, Eyre, Dempster, and Wood all making way more than the minimum. That's too much money invested in the pen. I don't mind the money going to a closer, if he is truly a stopper.....Dempster is not. I don't mind a good setup man getting paid money if he's a shut down type of reliever, Howry has shown he is at least pretty close to that level. But a situational LH should never be paid millions. A long-reliever should never be paid millions. The Cubs have several arms ready for the big leagues who could be decent relievers for the league minimum: Cherry, Guzman, Rapada, Wells. That makes the money spent on the pen even more disappointing.

    Week 2

I'm gonna be pissed, if I lose by 3 points or less. Hamels gave up 6 hits, for 6 total bases. 3 of them IF hits. One a bunt single by Carlos Delgado, who has no business bunting. And SP Maine with another IF hit.
  14. Why are the Pirates hitting Bay 5th? Doesn't make any sense for him to hit BEHIND Laroche.

    Week 1

HOLY [expletive]! I think I did it! I was down 58 points coming into today. Santana gave up just a single and 1 TB. Santana gave up 10 total bases. But he had Heilman blow a game and give up 3 doubles for 6 total bases. I'm up almost 9 right now, so unless there is something else that comes out of the scoring tonight, it looks like I'm up about 4 points, with Kinsler playing.

Capuano himself will ensure that you don't wish you started him. :D Yeah, he owns the Cubs, though. But I think they will get to him. What sucks is I'm winning in all my other leagues, but this is the one I care about. And 2 of my other 3 are for money. I'm up big in both my head-to-heads and winning the roto.

I need Santana to NOT be typical April Santana. And Escobar not make me wish I started Capuano.
  18. I'd like to see Murton and Floyd in there together.
  19. Wow. Delmon took BJ Ryan deep to tie it up in the 9th. Don't see that much.
  20. Wow. 64 pitches thru 6, and he just threw 7 he shouldn't have.
  21. OK Bulls, no crappy 2nd quarter for a change.
  22. Anyone have Shark's GB/FB ratio? With the lack of Ks, I'd hope he had the GB working.
