    Some salary numbers came out today. Mason Foster got 825K total. Vet minimum plus a signing bonus. Ray McDonald got 1.05Mil base, with 455K in incentives, nothing guaranteed. Alan Ball surprisingly got 3Mil for 1 year. Of course, it was rumored that he was offered (and going to sign) a 1-year deal for 2.8Mil in Carolina before he took the Bears' offer.

    Would have rather had Pierre Thomas, but Quiz is decent. Wonder how they will use him because he's a terrible option to run the ball. Something like 3.7 ypc in his career in 305 carries. Not a good number when you consider he has big play ability. Of course, Atlanta is terrible running the ball.

    He has to realize that stance is a part of why Bryant is going to be starting in Iowa. Why would he care that his stance is why Bryant is starting in Iowa? His concern is getting Bryant (and himself) more money as soon as possible. His argument that Bryant is good enough to start in the majors now is being proven right now, which also goes to help his argument that he doesn't want his guy signing a long term extension before he has to.

    Nobody steps up offensively at 2B, LF/3B (depending on Bryant) and C.

    Eh. How Vogelbach is doing compared to major leaguers is irrelevant to me. How he's doing relative to his league does have some merit, but like Craig said, counting only qualifiers (I know, nothing you could do) doesn't really tell the whole story. Bottom line is he's a player who's only value will come from having a dominant bat, and he hasn't shown he can dominate the low levels of the minor leagues. Not asking him to put up Bryant, Schwarber numbers, but the only thing he does that's special is walk. That's a good skill to have, but he looked like he was going to hit for way more power after putting up 17 HRs in 283 ABs in rookie and SS ball. And not only is his power going down at each level, his average is too, which could be expected. He needs a big year at AA this year to stay on the radar for me.

    I thought thy was what New Orleans did for tiny brees Yep. Huge, high-paid guards (though they didn't actually invest more than 4th round picks on either in the draft). Sign Wisnewski and if Slauson comes back to 2013 form, that's a pretty good interior. Saints drafted their LT a few years ago (Terron Armstead) from a small school. I'd love to find a potential OT in the mid rounds, but I don't really see a bunch of options.

    I was Chargers, Steelers and Cardinals last year. Take any of the same.

    No CBs left in free agency worthwhile. I'd probably sign Dashon Goldson to a cheap 1 year deal to play FS. Had success under Fangio at FS. I'd also use the bulk of the money to sign Stefan Wisnewski to play C. That would really lock up another spot in the OL for the next few years, which is quietly a big need. The way I see it, the Bears still need a starting caliber player or strong competition at FS, CB, DE/DT, WR, OC, and OT. And that's without taking a BPA edge player at #7. Take care of FS and C in free agency and use the first 4 picks for CB, WR, DL, and OT.

    Jarvis Jenkins isn't a bad signing, or necessarily just making a move for the sake of making one. He was a former 2nd round pick. Tore his ACL his rookie year. Was decent in 2013 then dealt with nagging injuries again. But he's the type of player Fangio has had success with in SF. The DL in SF the years under Fangio has pretty much had Justin Smith, McDonald, and a bunch of guys picked after the 5th round or UDFAs. Carradine is the only other exception and he missed his rookie year with a torn ACL.

    I'm actually hoping Fowler is gone. I like him, but I like Beasley and Dupree more. Beasley is my #1 edge rusher at this point. My concerns with him were size and strength and he answered them at the combine and his pro day. He's the only guy of this group that actually has produced double digit sacks and done so in both of the last 2 years. As for White vs. Cooper, I think Cooper is the better player and the better fit. Cooper is seriously one of the best route runners I've seen in college the last 5 years. He can run every route and has sneaky NFL deep speed. White to me is limited to go routes, comebacks, slants and screens. He rounds off routes and I think CBs can jump in front of him on out routes and slants. Cooper is most likely to make a Beckham Jr. impact as a rookie and keep it going. I don't really have a comparison for him, but he's as NFL ready as they come at WR and I'm not "gaga" about him in the traditional sense. Basically, I think he's a top 5-7 talent in THIS draft, but he's not on the level of AJ Green, Megatron, Julio Jones as legit generational talents. But that doesn't mean he's not a really good player.

Bears fans desire for the team to just do something is clouding the fact that Foster is mediocre at best. Nate Irving (former Bronco) just signed for 3 years/9 Mil. I'd offer that to Foster and Brandon Spikes to see who takes it first.

    Agree- on Vogelbach. He's a guy at a power position (whether 1B, LF, or DH) that isn't hitting for much power. His average isn't "special" either. He does walk though and doesn't K a ton. Agree- I would vote Caratini before Zagunis, and haven't voted Caratini yet, though I understand Zag's appeal. Agree- I have voted Rivero 3x in a row. But have Jimenez and Sands directly behind him personally. As for low level guys, I think these rankings are a balance of production, projection, pedigree, position, age, and then how close they are to the majors.

    Ducasse was a highly sought after small school OL a few years ago from U Mass . Hes basically been a bust so far. Jets gave him every shot to start.

    Michael Wright is saying the sides aren't close with Bears and Foster. Funny, he and Leming have been saying opposite things the last week and a half. Leming has been right usually.
