  1. So, in other words, the Cubs should win every game they play vs. the NL the rest of the year? They do have the best team top to bottom in the league, right?
  2. First round picks like Olson shouldn't be sharing time. They should also be able to block. He is always going to have a quick guy on him because whenever he is in the game, you know he isn't there to block. he isnt "sharing" time because he cant block, he is sharing time because he and dez clark are their two best receivers and both need to be on the field. this olson cant block thing is a myth. No Olsen is a pretty crappy blocker. Easily in the bottom 1/3 of TEs.
  3. Let's see how far off I can be today! Cubs have owned Snell. Last night's lineup plus Zambrano is hitting a career .364/.449/.661/1.110 off of Ian Snell. But since the last time vs. the Cubs, Snell has worked on mechanics and has given up just 5 ERs in his last 19 innings. But despite the numbers, Snell has had some decent outings in the past against the Cubs. This will be a true test if he has really turned it around. I think the Cubs will hit him, but also wouldn't be suprised if he limits the damage and manages a poor man's quality start (6 IP, 3 ERs). Zambrano has had trouble w/ McLouth and Doumit, and Moss took him deep last time. So, if he can avoid walking people, those 3 can't do enough damage to score more than a couple runs against him. Hopefully, the Cubs can put up a couple early and Carlos can put on cruise control like he has his last 2 times vs. the Pirates. I think this would be a big game to win, and win the series maybe getting a shot to rest a couple players for the day game tomorrow.
  4. Last offseason was the killer. The draft was ridiculous, reaching for everybody, ignoring the line. By this season it was too late. Yeah, the 07 draft was ignorant. None of the 2nd and 3rd round picks (Bazuin, Wolfe, and Okwo) are good enough to make this team, but they will because the Bears picked them in the top 100.
  5. You start 2 QBs? Then you shoulda went QB earlier then. With 20 yards per point for RB and WRs, no PPR, and 6 points for TD passes.... QBs are easily the most valuable players in that league, especially when you consider you start as many as you do RBs. Addai is a good pick at 8, but then you should have come back w/ Big Ben or Palmer if still on the board. Favre would have been a good #2 QB.
  6. The last 2 offseasons have been a sham. A decent offseason before last year could have put this team back in the playoffs in 2007. A decent offseason this year, could have had the team back to the best team in the NFC. Should have brought in a couple lineman, one of whom could play LT. Should have drafted a QB, that way if Rex failed with a good line, you'd have a QB of the future, who could be ready to compete this year.
  7. I have a calendar schedule on my desk w/ Wins and Losses tracked for each day. The Cubs have only played 3 Monday since the break and are 1-2. After their opening day loss, the Cubs won 7 of the next 8 Mondays. Tuesdays have been streaky for the Cubs. 4 game win streak currently, but previously a 3-game losing streak, preceeded by a 3-game win streak, preceeded by a 2-game Tuesday losing streak. The Cincy loss ended a 7-game Wednesday streak the Cubs had. The Cubs currently have their 2nd 4-game Thursday win streak. Sundays have been fun for the Cubs. They've won 6 straight Sundays and 11 of the last 13.
  8. The Pirates have scored 64 runs in 22 games since trading Jason Bay. That's an average of 2.9 runs per game. Twelve of those runs game in games 3 and 4 post Bay, both losses. In the 18 games since, Pittsburgh has scored 48 runs. An average of 2 2/3 runs per game. They have scored 3 or fewer runs in 12 of the last 18. I think the Cubs may have a tough time scoring in this series though. Karstens has been tough this year, and has dominated RH hitters in his 4 starts so far. Snell has put up a 2.37 ERA in his 3 starts since working w/ the pitching coach to change his mechanics. Duke in game 3, likely won't be much of a problem, but the Pirates do get Marquis that day. This game actually could have issues with rain around gametime. I look for a low scoring game tonight, with Lilly able to go deep in the game. I think Zambrano is key in the middle game. He has struggled vs. the Pirates, but Bay and Nady did a lot of that damage.
  9. The last 3 games against the Brewers won't matter. The Cubs will clinch the division before then.
  10. Tennessee with 10 runs in the last 2 innings (3rd/4th). Colvin 1-3, with a RBI single. Castillo 2-2, with a HBP and 3 RBIs.
  11. He didn't play much against the against the Cards either. I find that to be interesting, don't you? Doumit didn't play yesterday against the Crew either. I'll bet he plays all 3 against us. Doumit's a catcher. He probably won't play the day game Wednesday.
  12. He didn't play much against the against the Cards either. I find that to be interesting, don't you? Doumit didn't play yesterday against the Crew either. I'll bet he plays all 3 against us. Great work guys, we have proof of a conspiracy! Now all we need to figure out is a motive. They're still mad that Bobby Hill didn't pan out for them.
  13. He didn't play much against the against the Cards either. Conspiracy!
  14. Thanks, Pirates. Now lay down for the Cubs too. Sorry bastages.
  15. What a play! If the Pirates hit that little crap, they woulda scored with the Prince at 1B.
  16. Puckin Firates.
  17. Did that hit the bag?
  18. C'mon Gapper!
  19. He didn't throw it close in that AB. The Pirates can get 1 in right?
  20. That should be ball 4
  21. Neither team has much in the way of quality relievers. If Pitt wins this, this could make for a good series this week, with them having to go deep in the pen today.
  22. Damn. Cameron almost double off like an idiot!
  23. I'd like the round numbers not to stop. Give me 100-60, and who cares what happens the last 2 games. Cubs on pace for 99.69 wins.
