  1. Carolina has a pretty good offensive line. They are young, but they are big and talented. The key for the Bears D is for the LBs not to get caught up with the interior linemen. If Urlacher and Briggs stay free, they will make a lot of tackles. I'd like to see Payne cheat up a lot too. I like the 1-on-1 matchups with the Bears CBs on their WRs if necessary. Carolina isn't anything special defensively. Rivers had a 121 rating against them yesterday. LT averaged 4.6 ypc yesterday.
  2. I gotta hit the ball this week. Mets play 2 bad teams. Hopefully my 3 hitters can hit the ball hard all week. Grady's due for a big week also. At this point, I may be benching Matt Cain. He has had some favorable matchups and not been very good lately.
  3. That was maybe the toughest matchup he will see all season, outside of Jared Allen (twice). Still he was pretty weak pass blocking. He did ok in the preseason against weaker DEs.
  4. Man, I'm still so hyped about last night! If the refs get that fumble on the kickoff right and Hester downs the 2nd half kickoff (limiting the playcalling and giving the Colts momentum), the Bears could have won a complete laugher. Even if you only give the Bears 3 with the great field position they would've gotten and take away 4 from the Colts TD drive on a short field, that's a 32-9 final. Ron Turner called a great game. Babich called a great game. Props to Briggs for remembering how to tackle after taking standing around all preseason. Props to the Oline. JSC did just enough vs. Freeney, which may be his toughest matchup this year. Tait and Garza were excellent on the right side. Welcome to the NFL Matt Forte!
  5. Fast Willie makes me not regret keeping him! My keepers had very good days (Gore, Parker, Witten).
  6. I don't know about that. The Colts were bringing Bethea and Sanders up to the box in the 2nd half pretty consistently. The Bears were doing a great job attacking that safety help. I think a couple times, they audibled to run the ball right at safety coming up. I didn't think Peyton was rusty at all. I think a lot of the Colts offensive struggles had to do with Peyton's distrust of the middle of his O-line. Then secondary factors were the loss of Dallas Clark and the rustyness of Marvin Harrison, who wasn't even bad himself, but shoulda come up with a couple of deep balls.
  7. I'm awesome! Even moreso if you don't read my comment at the end of a low scoring game w/ neither team scoring 20.
  8. Al Michaels reads this site.
  9. That Urlacher commercial is hilarious.
  10. Colts out of TOs! Thanks to a Briggs exact replay of the Sanders play on Forte earlier.
  11. Nate Dogg is wack tonight. Cmon Vash
  12. I woulda murdered everyone in this zip code if that was overturned.
  13. Yeah, pretty much that whole drive he was bad.
  14. I think you are gonna see a lot more Sanders in the box in the 2nd half. Gonna force the Bears away from the run and try to throw the ball downfield. I don't know what answer the Colts have for the TE 1 on 1 vs. an LB on the outer 1/3 though. Offensively, I expect the Colts to look to Wayne in the slot a lot more. Him vs. Danieal even w/ safety help isn't a good matchup.
  15. Excellent. Kyle Orton is MUCH smarter than Rex Grossman. He played a very smart half. Turner called a great game with the exception of the 3rd down draw play on the first 3rd down after the Forte TD. Line is doing a decent job. Forte doesn't need a hole, just a crease.
  16. was it purple I thought aura was orange? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/94/I
  17. Badelli's tools and Colvin's tools aren't that comparable. Colvin's not nearly the toolsy monster Rocco was. Rocco has more hitting aptitude for high batting averages. He has more raw power, although it doesn't materialize due to his line drive batting average first approach - though he's shown it more recently (well last few years when he's been active). Rocco is a plus defensive centerfielder and has plus-plus speed. The only things that mirror each other are the power and discipline. Nothing else mathces up. So, if Colvin doesn't have the tools that Baldelli does/did, then by default Soriano (the player you compared Colvin too) doesn't have the tools Baldelli does/did? Yet, you say Colvin's not as fast or have the power of Soriano (both tools). From what I know about Colvin, his arm isn't as good as Soriano's (I honestly can't remember how good Baldelli's arm is). Soriano was as toolsy as they came back in the 90s.
  18. I actually saw the last bit of Rome is Burning yesterday, and he pretty much said the exact same thing. He replayed Hester's opening kickoff return at the Super Bowl, and said anything other than kicking it out of bounds is a mistake. I hate to agree with that man, but... i'll take it.... The Colts special teams is really bad. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bears go after a couple punts (assume they force them to punt) Sunday night.
  19. Agreed. If I had to guess, I'd say the Cubs trade Pie this offseason and bring in an experience CF who can take Edmonds role in the platoon (I'm thinking David DeJesus or the like). Colvin will likely start in Iowa and be placed on the 40-man this offseason, making him 1 callup away.
  20. Isn't it a pretty safe bet that just about every pitcher will have 2 starts in the finals, and some might even get three starts? Guess I didn't look back in the thread to see that it is 2 weeks.. Either way, I like getting 3 starts each over 2 weeks out of Roy and Kazmir! Is there a 3rd place game?
  21. Technically, he's tough to hit when he doesn't throw it near the plate, but for a completely different reason.
  22. What about a Rocco Baldelli comparison, Meph? Seems like the most similar player to me. Similar build (6'4", 200 lbs vs. 6'3", 190 lbs). Similar skills defensively. Similar approaches at the plate. Neither has the power or speed of Soriano. Neither walks much and both strike out a little too much. In fact, look at their career minor league numbers: Baldelli: .279 /.330 /.437 /.767 OPS Colvin: .274 /.316 /.460 / .776 OPS Baldelli in 1340 PA, 71 BBs, 271 Ks Colvin in 1373 PA, 76 BBs, 214 Ks
