  1. Just because the Packers have a young core doesn't mean they are going to win multiple Superbowls. I'm sure they'll be good for a really long time (as all team with elite QB are), but the Pack are far from a given to win another title. Brady has 3 rings, but NONE since 2004. And he was borderline elite when he won his 3 (definitely not elite when he won his 2nd). Peyton only has 1 ring. Brees 1. Then if you consider Rivers elite, he has 0 Superbowl appearances. Roethlisberger has 2 rings, but doesn't have elite stats outside of a sub .500 2009 season.
  2. All he does is catch touchdowns. And pretty much everything else, too. 3rd all time in receptions, 8th in receiving yards, 4th in receiving TDs, 5th in yds/reception, 54th in receiving yards/game, 8th in touchdowns and 36th in all purpose yards. Interesting tidbit: his 5 two point conversions is 3rd all time. He should have been a first ballot hall of famer. What about Tim Brown? 4th in receiving yards, 6th in rec. TDs, 4th in receptions, 5th in AP yards. NFL doesn't typically put guys in the same position in the HOF together. And Brown was up the same time as Jerry Rice and Cris Carter.
  3. My only issue with this is now you have to add RB to the list of needs. Along with Manning testing the waters, Adams not re-signed yet, and 4 of 6 LBs not under contract....the Bears have too many needs with only 6 draft picks. I really don't want to trade down just for the sake of trading down. I guess they can go with Khalil Bell (RFA), Unga (supplemental pick on IR), and possibly re-sign Wolfe (UFA) to back up Forte, but they obviously weren't willing to do that this year.
  4. Yeah I have a feeling people's expectations for those 2012 kids will be overinflated for their freshman year. But the good thing is by then we should at least have three pretty solid senior leaders in place (Watford, Creek, Hulls) plus Zeller with a year under his belt so it isn't like those 2012 kids will have to be the Fab Five right off the bat. And trust me I don't expect them to be the Fab Five or to be Walls/Cousins/Bledsoe-esque. I don't think you can count on Creek for anything. Dude broke both kneecaps in a year. He was a shadow of his former self with the 1st injury. I'd be pleasantly surprised if he contributes in any way for the rest of his career.
  5. Not having Cousins, Wall, and Bledsoe type players could be a positive (in a roundabout way). I don't see Crean as a coach that can get guys to come together and play championship basketball in 1 summer of practices, no matter how good the talent. But IU is bringing in some really good players, who will conceivably be more than just 1 and done players. Meaning, they will have time to play and practice together and maybe he can get guys to stay in school ala Michigan St, Purdue, and Duke ....with hopefully fewer injuries/suspensions in the first 2 cases....and you can get a couple of JR and SR classes staying together for 3 years and add 1 impact freshman to put them in contention.
  6. Rays aren't as good as last year. As bad as Pena was last year, they are not going to get 1B production from Ben Zobrist who is the everyday guy there this year. Downgrade from Carl Crawford to Johnny Damon. Loss of Soriano, Balfour, Wheeler, and Benoit in the pen, their 4 best relievers. Who knows if Desmond Jennings can produce right away? John Jaso is due for a decline at C. As is David Price. And of course, you got no Garza this year. Then you throw in Manny Ramirez whenever he feels like playing. Rays don't look like a .500 team to me on paper this season.
  7. If they stay healthy, they will score some runs. The key to the Orioles doing anything (by anything I mean maybe .500 and 3rd place finish in AL East) is the starting rotation. They actually have a bunch of talent there too, but Matusz, Arrieta, Tillman, and Zach Britton have to mature in a hurry.
  8. 26 year old, capable of being a strong LT, but suffered serious neck and back injuries the last 2 years. Scares me a lot.
  9. I'd consider them small. 6' or below, under 195lbs or so. Despite how they are listed, I think they are both smaller than that. Give me 1 more year of Wallace and Maclin doing what they did this year and then they are in the discussion. Neither is better than Jackson, IMO.
  10. Jackson has one more 1,000 yard season in two less years played. In addition, he has averaged over two yards more per catch than Holmes in their respective careers. In pretty much no circumstance would I take Holmes over Jackson, give me the more explosive player. Johnny Knox has averaged over 2 more yards per catch than Larry Fitzgerald in their respective careers. Maybe an extreme example, but Knox is more explosive than Fitz then technically. So YPC means nothing but number of catches means everything? Both mean a lot. Jackson is explosive, but Holmes career 16.0 ypc is nothing to scoff at, especially when he does it while catching more passes than Jackson. Jackson's best season was 62 catches in 15 games, 4.13 catches per game. Holmes has bettered that 3 of his 5 years.

  12. Holmes is a better WR than Jackson. While Jackson does have 2 1000 yard seasons to Holmes' 1. Jackson has caught only 62, 62, and 47 passes each year. Holmes has a 79 catch year and caught balls at a 70-catch pace this year (4-game suspension). Jackson's a better big play threat, but Holmes is a better intermediate threat and can make a play for you more consistently.
  13. The problem isn't necessarily size with Knox and Hester. It's lack of strength against the bump and lack of route running ability to juke away from the press coverage. Holmes has both of those. As did the small Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce who worked well in the Martz offense. If Martz is hellbent on going with small fast guys, there is no better small fast guy in the league than Santonio Holmes. There's always you. I'm not tough enough, or consistent enough. I have too many 1 or 2 catch games and don't show up every week.
  14. What did I state that wasn't fact (other than the 3 1000 yard WR thing, which I admitted was a mistake)? You can say that I'm twisting the facts to work against them, but guess what...that's what the entire NFL is doing if they are interested in drafting him.
  15. Deng has had a really strong season. I've actually been very impressed with CJ Watson for the most part also. Korver and Brewer have been about what I expected.

  17. This guy here is dead. lol I didn't say I would kill myself. Nor did I say what I would shoot myself with. :D
  18. Sorry Raw, I meant this is an excellent sporting competition between these 2 teams. I'm happy to see the magic of athletics bring young people together. Thanks for clarifying. Because saying a call is terrible is the EXACT same thing as saying IU fans think they are going to be good next year which makes their tears taste delicious.
  19. Sure. Whatever floats your boat.
  20. There's like 5 IU fans on this board. All you have to do is go back to posts during the Illinois/IU game (which Illinois lost by the way to a team missing 2 of its 3 best players) and you can see gems like: "If we could build a time machine, would anyone think it possible to restart from Self's departure and have the next decade go worse? It could happen, but only if we had hired Dave Bliss" "Good riddance seniors, and yes this includes you DMac" If you're over the age of 8 and you go by Jordy you are a loser Got fouled by that white trash on that too I'd love to punch Tom Crean in the face. What a [expletive] spaz.
  21. Still better than the Illinois Final 4 prediction. And actually, I am rooting for the Packers this Sunday. The next time you see me call out another team that one of my teams isn't currently playing, will be the first time you have seen that from me.
  22. I brought Illinois in to make myself feel better? So, IU fans tears comment was said with no malice? Any truth to the rumor that Illinois basketball hasn't won anything in 3 generations?
  23. Luckily, us IU fans have a thread full of Illini tears to fall back on. Do I really need to go back and quote all the final 4 predictions you guys had? Almost as hilarious as your ambitious NIT dreams this year. Beat Illinois though huh? Nice work, you guys are almost as good as UIC Seriously dude? This is a 182 page thread. 176 of it has been Illinois fans whining like bitches. And because your team isn't enjoyable enough you go to insulting IU. You are definitely from the South Side, as you have the White Sox mentality of "Sox lost, but at least the Cubs suck!"
