  1. LOL, WTF Hopefully Painter makes sure one of his boys isn't naked and lashed to something in bowels of the fake Assembly Hall before the bus leaves Bloomington. But seriously, that's creepy as [expletive]. LOL. What a great GIF.
  2. Colston reeks of Muhsin Muhammad for me. Colston is a few years younger than Moose was when the Bears signed him, but Colston has had several knee surgeries. A 29-year old, with a knee history, coming from the most prolific passing offense of all time....I just think he's going to fail to live up to expectations. I'd rather go after Vincent Jackson, if the Bears are going after someone beyond 27. I wouldn't hate signing Colston, because it's obviously a huge need and he'd clearly be the best WR on the roster. But I wouldn't expect more than 2 solid years from him before he becomes overpaid.
  3. lol according to dvoa and dyar, he's not even top 30. i think he's like 36 and 40 respectively. that doesn't adjust for run blocking, but that can't account for such terrible rankings. forte is replaceable. I think run blocking can account for how bad those rankings are somewhat. But I do agree Forte is replaceable. But he's no more replaceable than any other RB in the league. As good as they are, the Vikings, Jags, and Titans aren't any better off because they have Peterson, MJD, and Chris Johnson. The Texans lost Arian Foster a couple times last year and their backup came in and didn't miss a beat. Bears didn't really suffer much at RB when Forte went out, either. They lost games due to the loss of Cutler.
  4. And Cutler this year. Blitzing relentlessly with a double digit lead late.
  5. So how much does the offer have to be in order for Steelers to not be able to match it? Just curious... Here's the thing... Prince Amukamara was the 19th pick last year. His contract is for 4 years, 8.18 mil. Bears will have to sign Mike Wallace to a much bigger contract than that. Granted, Wallace is a great and young WR, but is it worth getting him and losing that pick? It'll depend on the contract Wallace would get. My guess is some team winds up giving Wallace 15 mill or so, in the form of a roster bonus or something like that, that Pittsburgh just can't match. They'd have to cut too many guys. I'm saying the Bengals because it's a division rival, they have 2 1st rounders and are 40 mill under the cap, so they can afford to take a huge cap hit in year 1 of a deal. 15Mil is a little high. I don't think the Steelers can match 10Mil up front. And 12Mil is definite. If I'm the Bears, I'd probably do it. I personally think every FA that's going to be out there is a bigger risk than Wallace for the same or more money. Jackson is 29, and 1 DUI away from a year long suspension. Colston is 28 with a history of knee surgeries. I'd be OK with Stevie Johnson, but Wallace is easily a better player. I don't know that the Bengals would make the move for Wallace. The rumor is they want to move up for Richardson, possibly packaging both 1st round picks they have. I think the Bears and 49ers are most likely to make a move. Also, if Wallace is gone, I believe that they would target Stephen Hill with one of their 1st round picks. Replace a WR with 4.3 speed with a bigger WR with 4.3 speed. Are they really in a place where they would need to use one of their first rounders on a WR? Antonio Brown established himself as a true #1 last year, IMO. Emmanuel Sanders is a pretty decent #2. Not sure if Cotchery is coming back or not, but he's decent enough depth at the position for a season. I think they could easily get by with a lesser talented FA or draft pick. Heck, Wallace was a 3rd rounder who is now clearly 1st round talent. It's expensive to lose a first round pick for him, but he is first round talent. So the trade off is worth it. No, they wouldn't have to spend a 1st round pick on a WR. But I think Hill would be of interest for them. Ben has said he wants a big WR (ala Cutler). And they would need to replace Wallace's deep speed. With the extra pick, and those 3 WRs ahead of him (Cotchery is most likely going to be re-signed), the Steelers can afford to take Hill and wait on him if necessary.

  7. Yeah, I was confused when I looked at the standings this morning. Miami has a better winning percentage, but are behind the Bulls who have 1 more loss, but 2 more wins.
  8. This is all true. Go 1080p or don't get one at all.
  9. jon martin would be real tough not to take there if he falls that far. Jon Martin reminds me a lot of Chris Williams. I think he's a guard in a zone blocking scheme or a scheme that likes to pull their guards around the edge. I think bullrushers will eat him for lunch in the NFL.
  10. I think Martz would love Kendall Wright. That's going to be a tough pick at 19 if Floyd isn't there. I know the Bears really want a big WR. I like Wright a lot though, and he'd be tough to pass up in that situation. I don't really care for the TE in the 2nd round. I think the TE position has been a little overblown. The Bears aren't going to find a Grontkowski or Jimmy Graham in this draft, talent-wise. But I think the combination of actually using the TEs in pass routes, getting better WRs on the outside, and bringing in a mid-round talent would be enough to make the position an asset for Cutler. I don't want to see a huge investment in the TE position, just to "keep up with the Joneses".
  11. Just put Rose, Watson and Korver out there and the other 2 players just rebound.
  12. Not at all. I mentioned about a week ago there are 3 positions I would never spend any kind of significant money on....CB was one, but RB is #1. Signing your own guy (Forte) is fine. A reclamation project here or there (Marion Barber, Thomas Jones) is fine. But it's going to take at least 4 years for Tolbert. Even if he doesn't make a lot of money in his next contract, I don't see any reason to pay a guy 3-4Mil/year to do a job a rookie can easily do. Khalil Bell is fine as the #2. I'd draft a RB late (and cut Barber) if the opportunity arises and the Bears have several other positions filled by then. If not, a UDFA or 2 could be the 3rd RB.
  13. A big name expensive free agent WR and a middle of the 2nd round pick is very close to what we are talking about here. Dont' be fooled by the fact that costs have gone up since 2005. We aren't talking Randy Moss in his prime or any other hall of fame type WR. We are talking about very good, and expensive free agent WR and top draft choices being spent on WR because of a glaring and desperate need for WR. i would be surprised if we signed a big name FA wide receiver and then drafted a wr before the 4th round. Me too, but I'd take that up to 3rd round. I think top notch FA WR = mid round WR And 2nd tier FA WR = early round WR
  14. This would be the 7th straight game that Indiana has outshot their opponents from the FT line, and 3 of those were road games. Basically ever since Jones went out with his injury and Oladipo was given the ball in his hands much more the free throws have been consistently high. What kind of a jump shooter is Oladipo? From what I've seen it's no surprise the FT's have been high given he takes the ball to the hoop so often. Oladipo's not a good jump shooter at all.
  15. Theres a lot of internet chatter about him moving up teams boards, but I haven't read much about 1st round. Prior to the combine wasnt he a 3/4 rounder? He was in the 2nd-3rd round range. The Raiders don't have a 1st round pick, so he won't go all DHB in the draft. But I'd be surprised if Hill makes it past Houston in the 1st round.
  16. Every foul has been completely legit except that block to put Oladipo on the line. All right at the basket.
  17. What a terrible foul call.
  18. It's funny how irrational fans can get about past success/failure at a place. I was dreading the Minnesota game because IU has played so horribly there even when they had better teams than Minnesota almost every year. And I am irrationally a little more confident than I should be about this game because IU played so well against Michigan State at home in both the Mike Davis/Kelvin Sampson years despite regularly being the underdog. Kirk Haston game-winning 3 to beat #1 Michigan St. is probably my favorite moment of this century.
  19. I like Mercilus a lot. The big concern is that he's a 1-year wonder, but I think he has a lot of upside. He has all the measurables. Good size for a 4-3 DE. Good speed. Good quickness. He has long arms and is strong. Looks the part. I don't think he's great right now in the run game, as he lacks awareness, but he knows how to go after the QB and that's what pays the bills in the NFL. Once he gets to the QB, he's one of the best at stripping the ball in the NCAA. He doesn't have the upside of Coples or Perry, but he should be a pretty good DE in the NFL. And I project him to be solid all around.
  20. Fletcher Cox looked amazing today. Good call on that one.
  21. i watched him run live, the time that came back right away was 4.61. the 4.61 appears to have stood up against further review. it was his unofficial and official time. The first time he ran 4.45. I watched it live also.
  22. I'll take whoever. I usually end up with the Texans because there are no Texan fans here, but I'll take any team and help out with the Bears.
  23. Kendall Wright is not a 4.61 runner. His time unofficially was 4.45. In my opinion, there's no way 4.61 is more realistic. A lot of people put more stock into hand times than they do the official computer times anyway. He will run in the 4.4s at his pro day anyway and teams won't even worry about what happened at the combine. He's fast on tape. He was extremely quick in and out of his breaks on the drills.
  24. I always thought it was hilarious when some analysts would cite RG3's speed and mobility as a reason to take him over Luck, basically implying that Luck was Peyton Manning. I've never heard anyone that knows what they are talking about question Luck's athletic ability. Honestly, he reminds me of Peyton Manning's brain on Rich Gannon's body. Gannon was one of the best athletes to ever play QB at a high level. Probably only behind Steve Young and Randall Cunningham. I think you forgot Michael Vick. I didn't actually forget. I mis-spoke. I meant the best athletic QBs not the best athletes to play QB.

Gannon was one of the best athletes to ever play QB at a high level. Probably only behind Steve Young and Randall Cunningham. You think Luck is a combination of one of the smartest QBs ever with one of the most athletic QBs ever? That isn't meant to sound snarky. I have no idea. That's just pretty lofty praise. Yes. The best 3 QB prospects in the history of the NFL draft are probably Elway, Peyton, and now Luck. I don't think Luck is as good as either of them, but he's pretty good. That's not to say that these are or will be the best 3 QBs of all time. Just that they are the 3 biggest sure things ever IMO. That being said, we know Luck's upside is a HOF QB, one of the greatest ever. I'm not saying the Colts should even consider RG3, but the thing I like about RG3 is we don't know what his upside is. He's nearly the athletic specimen that Vick is, but he's got better size. He's a much better pass than Newton was coming out last year. We've seen Vick run for 1000 yards in a season and in the last 2 be on a 4000 yard passing pace if he stayed healthy. We've seen Newton throw for 4000 and lead the league in TD runs as a rookie. What's RG3 going to be if he's capable of Vick's running ability, a better passer than Newton, and a better bet to stay healthy than Vick? That's something the NFL has never seen before.
