  1. For the Bears, I'm thinking Kendall Wright or Nick Perry. Couldn't go wrong with either. Really don't want Jon Martin. I wouldn't cry about Stephon Gilmore, but I think the depth at CB is better than at DE.
  2. Sorry, in meetings all day. Thought I pm'd Dew, but I guess I did not. Jags take Melvin Ingram, DE South Carolina
  3. Eek, seriously? Where's he projected to go now ?. CFL. Don't think anyone will draft a nutcase that can't run before the 7th round.
  4. It's all of the above. 1. The rules are needlessly complicated. Years ago the rules were made to make it more realistic. It's not real baseball. It's fantasy. 2. People who are like "hey, pretty sure eight man benches aren't allowed" are complaining about 2 games a week apart from the rest of the games with only 2 viable starting fantasy options between the 2 teams (Ackley, Felix). It's not the end of the [expletive] world if someone has an illegal roster right now. Not that serious that important information gets lost in threads. 3. People who are complaining complain about everything all the damn time. If it's not rosters, it's about trades, if not trades it's the rules. If not the rules it's people complaining about the people complaining. Hell, you were just complaining about how long this was taking. I don't know why we can't get together do an online draft 1 damn day set a month in advance. You can't make it, you autodraft.
  5. I could have picked 8 hours ago, but didn't see the 1 post saying Chuck was presumed passed and it was my turn because of all the complaining about how long it was taking and what do do about the Japan game(s). Would have thought a thread called "2012 Prospect Selections" would be about the selections in the prospect draft.
  6. If I haven't already been passed, I'll pass in the prospect draft. I don't even know what the hell is going on because I can't wade thru all the [expletive] in this thread. This league is way more [expletive] dramatic than it needs to be.
  7. I'll take the Jags
  8. IE 8 & 9 are the ones having the problem. Another issue is offering/accepting/declining trades. IE 7 works fine as does Firefox and Chrome. I have IE 8. It's trying to make me downgrade to get it to work. I'll just use Firefox
  9. I'm IN for Round 3
  10. I feel like every time Jimmy Butler plays, he plays well. And this team sucks without Rose.
  11. Good team. Probably have the most power in the league, but also have plenty of speed too. Should probably win 3-4 of the offensive categories every week if your team is healthy. Pitching wise, you got a good chance to win Ks every week.
  12. Nevermind, read the post and got a PM. Chris Parmalee, 1b Twins.....he's not on a roster is he?
  13. So, did Karen pick or what?
  14. It could be argued that if Marshall was a FA and got to go wherever he wanted, he would have been likely to pick Chicago anyway due to Cutler. But the Bears couldn't afford to wait to see if Miami cut Marshall in 2 days or 2 months. Even if you told me there was a better than 50/50 chance he would get cut and a 50/50 chance he went to the Bears vs. the other 30 teams, I still would be OK with the trade.
  15. Hell yeah. The Bears had to get a WR. They couldn't wait to see if MAYBE the Dolphins would cut Marshall. It was either go after Marshall, get into a bidding war in free agency, or gamble the WR they was there for them in the draft. It wasn't feasible to sit and do none of the above waiting to see if Marshall would get cut. They got Marshall for less money than Vincent Jackson took to get in Tampa, who is an inferior player to Marshall. Sure they gave up 2 draft picks also, but that's a deal you make 100 times out of 100.
  16. I don't know about Pippen until he proves himself in the league, but damn he's good. They'll let him keep up the traveling in the NBA, so he has that going for him. But seriously, I don't think he's close to the passer Pippen was. I think he's a better rebounder right now than young Pippen. If he can continue to develop his jump shot and create for his teammates, he's well on his way.
  17. If you woulda told me IU would score 90 points tonight, I would think a 15 point win. They scored almost 1/2 their points from the line. Didn't miss [expletive]. Good game. We came to play. UK did a great job exploiting matchups vs. non-Zeller white guys for IU. Oladipo in foul trouble really hurt. Guess we'll go get em next year. CWAT PLEASE STAY! Legit National Championship contender if he does.
  18. NE has the 44th pick and the 63rd pick. Drastic difference there. Much more options with the 44. I'd do the trade for the 44. For the 63? I don't know. If there's no long-term deal and he signs elsewhere after the year you get 1 year of Forte plus the 96th pick next year. Forte would likely be the top FA to leave his team next year, and the Saints don't have a 2, so teh 96th pick would be for the team that loses the best/highest paid FA the previous year typically.
  19. No they aren't. People are coming down on him for being a little bitch and pretending the Bears haven't tried to sign him to an extension that guarantees him a heck of a lot of money. It's not about disrespect, taking advantage or unfairness. It's about money. The Bears offered a lot of money and he wanted more. It's not like the Bears have never expressed interest in paying anything but the franchise number for one year. We know with the Lynch, Williams, Johnson, and Foster long-term contracts what the market for Forte is. 17-20Mil guaranteed. We can assume that is what is being considered "fair market value" for Forte. If he would have been offered that, he would have a long-term deal right now. The fact that he doesn't means that YES the Bears HAVE tried, but they haven't tried to sign him to a fair value. they don't have to sign him at "fair market value" if they don't want to. if they don't value him, why should they pay big money for him? that's idiotic to pay someone simply to pay them or out of some sense of fairness. if they thought he was a must-keep player, they would have signed him long ago on his terms. OK. I never said they had to or even should sign Forte. I said they haven't offered Forte the money his peers have received. That's all.
  20. They are completely unwarrented and unjustified. The Bears drafted Matt Forte and signed him to a rookie contract. They have also signed free agents to help carry the load in part so that Forte wouldn't be running the ball 300 times a year. They would be negligent if they didn't bring in free agents. The Bears are in the middle of an offseason where they are trying to significantly add to the offense. They are in the middle of free agency season and guys are coming off the board everyday. What Forte seems to be suggesting is that the Bears shouldn't address needs and shouldn't sign free agents until they come to an agreement on his contract first. They should put their pursuits of free agents on hold because he is more important. They should agree to his demands today, four months before the deadline to sign him to an extension, rather than try and improve the team. They could draft a RB. Bring in UDFAs. Hell, I don't see what was wrong with Khalil Bell? Why can't he be a #2? And Marion Barber is still on the roster. He did a fine job last year other than 2 plays.

  22. Forte has done a ton for this team, yet every single offseason the Bears have brought in a FA RB and paid him more money. Bringing in Kevin Jones when Forte was a rookie was a non-issue. Paying a bunch of money to Chester Taylor was understandable after Forte came off a down year after 2 years of a lot of touches. Bringing in Marion Barber to do short-yardage was a little slap in the face, but something Forte could overlook. Now they brought in a 4th RB in 4 years. Bush is guaranteed 7 Mil. Forte is only guaranteed 7.7Mil. Sure it's a lot of money, but this is the NFL. Forte blows out his knee this year, it's likely he'll never seen 7.7Mil the rest of his career. Disrespectful is too strong of a word that gets thrown out too much by athletes, but it is a slap in the face when your team keeps paying guys off the street more money than you are making at your same position. Complete nonsense. He signed his rookie free agent and these are the rules collectively bargained for. If he was a street free agent he would get a market rate contract, but he is not a street free agent. Those guys were free to sign with anybody and the Bears were the ones that signed them. Forte has been treated perfectly fine by this franchise. They ofference a crap ton of money and he wanted more so he didn't accept all of that money. That's on him. OK. He's not a street FA, but neither were Foster, Lynch, etc. The guys the Bears have brought in have been street FAs, and the issue isn't 1 or 2 guys getting paid more than him. The heart of the issue is that now he feels he is due for a big pay day and the team is paying other people at his position. Again, I'm taking this from Forte's point of view. People are coming down on him for not accepting his 7.7Mil for this year and being happy with it. If I know RBs have a short shelf-life...and you know RBs have a short shelf-life, Matt Forte knows it. And he's perfectly in the right to feel he deserves to be guaranteed money beyond this season because what he has done for the team. I know the rules are in place, he is getting very fairly compensated this year, and you don't pay for past performance. But he greatly outperformed his rookie contract. The FA market dictated that RBs of his caliber (Lynch, Williams, Foster) get 17-20 Mil guaranteed. From all indications, the Bears have not offered him that. From Forte's point of view, that has to feel like a slap in the face. And again, I never said the Bears should NOT have slapped him in the face. But bottom line, Forte's complaints are not unwarrented or unjustified.
  23. I'm always by a computer or a smart phone. It doesn't help when I know I'm the next pick and the person before me takes 48 hours to pick. I check constantly and it doesn't move anywhere, then I stop checking and it suddenly moves. Forgot to autopilot last time.
  24. Oh and FYI,
  25. Right. They made a fair offer, Matt chose not to take it. So for him to get pissed at every dollar they spend on filling out the roster, well that is a Matt Forte problem not a Chicago Bears problem. What, the Bears are supposed to cower in fear and not carry on the business of filling out the roster out of fear of the wrath of Matt Forte? I read the most the Bears offered was 12Mil guaranteed. Either way, 15Mil guaranteed may be nice but Lynch just got 17Mil guaranteed, Arian Foster got 20Mil guaranteed. Forte is better than Lynch. Can argue that Foster is better than Forte, but Forte has been good for longer and is basically the same age. Sure 15Mil is a "fair" offer, but it's not what the market has dictated for a RB of Forte's caliber. And no, the Bears are not supposed to cower in fear (whatever that means). But it is stupid to spend money on a FA RB regardless of situation, even moreso when you just signed 3 FA RBs and they all have been failures. From Forte's point of view, it's not that the Bears are buying an insurance policy in case they can't work out a long term deal....it's the team signing a potential replacement and gaining leverage and putting their foot down in negotiations. That being said, I'm not saying the Bears should pay him that money. I'm actually pretty much 50/50 on it. If they do pay him 20Mil guaranteed, fine he's earned it. If not, fine because he probably won't be worth it. The Bears shouldn't toss out bad contracts just because other teams have. As for that last part... pay for future production, not past. How bad of a contract will it be though? With 18-20 Mil guaranteed, means you can still cut him easily after 3 years, at 28 years old, and not owe him another dime. It's not a prohibitive contract. A 28 year old RB can still be very productive. Forte has a lot of mileage on him, but there's no magic number he's about to hit where he becomes a bum. And again, I'm 50/50 on the idea. But I don't think you can just throw out it's a bad contract because RBs are a dime-a-dozen.
