  1. You shouldn't have been that close in the 1st place. Who starts Chris Capuano over Josh Johnson? I only started 6 pitchers too. Of course, my 7th only got 1/2 point.
  2. I don't think Spencer was very good last year. The only players I can say played above average on the OL last year were both Williamses.
  3. I have a soft spot for Tyler Wilson. He kinda reminds me of a poor man's Jay Cutler. Same exact size as Jay. Very underrated arm, that I don't feel gets noticed like it should because he followed Mallett who had a Cannon. Not as strong as Cutler's arm, but can make all the throws. More mobile than people realize. Very tough, will stand in and take a hit, probably takes too many hits for my liking. I think he made a very good decision by coming back to school. Gets another full year behind C. Lost a lot of WR talent, so if he has another big year, can't give credit to the talent around him (though Cobi Hamilton is an early round pick). Like Cutler, won't be the top QB off the board, but has a chance to be the best QB in the class.
  4. I thought Chris Williams was the best lineman last year. I don't know who would even have an argument.
  5. This has the potential to be a great top-end QB draft. Barkley, Bray, Wilson, Murray all could be really good NFL quarterbacks. I might actually like Murray more than any of them. Logan Thomas (who was in that mock) and Geno Smith are potential high 1st round picks too. I do like Murray a lot (not more than Barkley) but he won't go top 5 because he lacks prototypical size. Yeah, this QB class is nuts. I think all 6 of those names could go in the 1st. This draft is loaded at the top at WR, OT, QB, 3-4 OLB, and CB. There's always some guys that come out of nowhere also.
  6. Also: Alvester Alexander, RB, Wyoming Adrien Cole, LB, Louisiana Tech Britton Golden, WR, West Texas A&M AJ Greene, OT, Auburn Jeremy Jones, S, Wayne State Chris Summers, WR, Liberty Ronnie Thornton, LB, Southern Mississippi Jake Anderson, OT, Akron Tyler Holmes, LB, Massachusetts Kyle Wojta, LS, Wisconsin Jeremy Jones has some stupid @ss stats. Played FS and CB for Wayne St. Put up 106 tackles, 12.5 TFL, with 9 INTs. I don't know if he's an NFL caliber player, but I figured the Bears had the leg up to sign him as Emery is a Wayne State alum.
  7. McClellin could be really fun to watch. If the Bears are smart, he'll play some SLB, some nickel LB, nickel DE, and be a 4-phase special teamer. If he pans out and the team uses him correctly, I think he's going to become a fan favorite. I also wonder if this was Emery's way of saying, "Lovie if you don't win, I'm bringing in my own coach and going back to my 3-4 roots from NE and KC". I actually do think Jeffery shows explosion out of his breaks. At least considering his size, and definitely much more explosion than he shows when running in a straight line. He does a really good job pushing off and creating a larger window for the QB to throw in. If he can get away with that in the NFL, he's going to be tough to stop. He seems to do a lot of the things well that Marshall does, and I would have liked more of a compliment. Hardin, I like a lot. Didn't like him that early, but he'll be a very interesting player. I think his CB experience will benefit him at SS as his stiff hips won't affect him as much against a non-fluid TE. Unlike most safeties, he has the size at 6'3" to compete for jumpballs, while also being able to outrun most TEs in the league. Rodriguez gets the Aaron Hernandez comparisons because he has very similar measurements and I guess because he's Hispanic. I like the player, don't like the pick in the 4th though. He's a little faster, but smaller than Hernandez. I think he can hold his own with Hernandez as a receiver, and neither is more than an adequate-at-best blocker. But Hernandez is probably a little better at everything. Never going to be a #1 stud TE, but if you keep him as the #2 and move him around he can have some success in this league. He can line up at H-back, in the slot, backfield, or on the LOS. My biggest issue with the draft, besides the reaching for players is that the Bears picked versatile players for a coaching staff that has proven to be pretty rigid. The Bears don't move players all over the place on defense. They don't have any variety with their blitz packages. They don't use a ton of motion or exploit specific matchups. And I don't think changing from Turner, to Martz, to Tice will make a difference. It's the Lovie way. That's not to say the Lovie way is bad, because it has won the Bears several games despite having inferior talent to most of the league at key positions. But it will be interesting if Lovie can *gasp* "ADAPT".
  8. This is a better undersized CB than the last one. I'll be moderately surprised if anyone the Bears drafted will get a 2nd contract from them.
  9. I'm going to literally cry if his ACL is torn.
  10. Believe he worked out as both a DE and TE at his pro day. Imagine you guys would be looking more for a DE, but I think he may project better as a TE.
  11. Isn't Jeffery already down to 215 or something? 212. But he was also intentionally working to run faster and get down as low as possible so he could earn millions of dollars. If he ran a 4.48-4.54 (depending on who you ask) at 212, what does he run at 233lb, which is obviously his playing weight as that's what he was listed as in both 2010 and 2011 by South Carolina?
  12. I wasn't sold on Reiff anyway. At least not to the point where the Bears HAD to take him. But damn. A 3-4 LB, a converted CB at Safety, and a WR who was listed as 233lbs as recently as December, is not maximizing value, in my opinion.
  13. I don't have a huge problem with their approach thus far. Cutler will have several more weapons (I would have preferred they draft another TE in the 5th) in Marshall, Jeffrey, Bush, and Rodriguez, and if Carimi is ready the O-Line will improve. Really my only quibble is the 3rd round pick. Should have gone O-Line there. I'm not upset at the draft. I'm not upset at free agency. I'm not upset about last offseason in an uncapped year. I'm upset that since the lockout ended last year, the Bears have added 1 player that projects to have a major impact. Maybe 3 if McClellin and Jeffery work out very well. And this is not a rebuilding team that should just be adding depth. They are probably 1 more impact player away from being one of the top 6-7 teams in the league. An offensive lineman or DE that's ready to get to the QB Day 1 would do wonders for this team.
  14. Measured 5'10 1/2" at his pro day and 4.46 is good, but not outstanding, especially considering it came on his home track at his pro day where times are always better. There's bigger guys just as fast on the board, like Coryell Judie. Buddy Jackson from Pitt is taller and faster, just as likely to not make an NFL roster.
  15. Feel the same way I did after free agency last year. The Bears are one of the teams in a position to really take the next step and legitimately compete for a Super Bowl championship. I've never once suggested they go all Eagles/Cowboys and sign everyone or trade up to the top 5. And I understand the value of scouting. But it seems like the Bears are more content with trying to find a diamond in the rough rather than making a big splash play for someone that can really help this team the moment he steps on the field. It was the OL and WRs last offseason. This year it's signing a bunch of special teamers, spending on a RB, and drafting projects. The Marshall trade was wonderful, as was the Cutler trade. But for once, I'd like to see the Bears take a chance. Go all out and bring in a lineman. OG, OT or OC in free agency. Trade up and get a Fletcher Cox, who the Bears basically said they thought was the best defensive player in this draft.
  16. Joshua Moore all over again. Undersized CB who isn't all that fast. At least it's the 6th round this time,. UGH
  17. Rose needed as much playtime to get back in the flow as possible. He did absolutely nothing wrong. The flow was over! There was no flow to the game at that point. They were milking clock. He had at least 3 more games against a vastly inferior team to get back into the flow.
  18. Forgot he was still on the board. I think he can play OT in a pinch. He'd be a good pick regardless.
  19. FWIW, my guesses for the pick are either: Ronald Leary, OL Memphis or Micah Pellerin, CB, Hampton.
  20. Lots of teams passed on Massie, but not a lot of teams have a LT that has given up 23 sacks in the last 2 years and had its QB injured 2 years in a row, costing the team a legitimate shot Superbowls. cutler was injured against san diego because knox fell down, not because of webb. that said, they needed to pick reiff in the first round, that's where they missed. why pick massie and get another backup? their depth is fine. Doesn't really matter HOW Cutler got injured. Bottom line is he took too many hits and didn't finish the season for the 2nd straight year. Many considered Massie as a starter ready NFL RT, with some athletic upside to play LT in the next 2-3 years. Also, the Bears depth also is NOT fine. The only OTs on the roster are Carimi (who missed 14 1/2 games last year) and J'Marcus Webb. Lance Louis and Chris Williams are failed OTs that should never go back.
  21. Lots of teams passed on Massie, but not a lot of teams have a LT that has given up 23 sacks in the last 2 years and had its QB injured 2 years in a row, costing the team a legitimate shot Superbowls. I really hate the argument that "a lot of teams passed on him". I'm sure teams with 2 legit tackles or tackle prospects aren't going to kick themselves for not drafting Massie. But the Bears have neither, they should if he turns out even to be an adequate player.
  22. Here's a thought. If there's ligament damage, Rose not only misses the playoffs this year, but most of next year too, at least. This [expletive] blows!
  23. Hardin's not a CB. He wasn't even going to play there this year, if he hadn't missed the whole year. i'd like to see him at least tried there. he has sub-cb speed and he's bigger than tillman. I don't know. Doesn't look like he can turn and run with WRs who have some twitch and/or great straight line speed. He still doesn't have Megatron/Chocobot speed, and he doesn't have Greg Jennings quickness.
  24. Hardin's not a CB. He wasn't even going to play there this year, if he hadn't missed the whole year.
  25. Cutler, Forte, Hossa, Rose, Garza probably tears his rotator cuff next month.
