  1. Not sure where to put this, but didn't want to start a new thread. But damn am I out of the loop on baseball. I just found out yesterday that Robin Ventura is the manager for the WhiteSox. When did this happen?
  2. I'm really late on this thread, but I'm agreeing with Jersey here. Not only with the ML team see the results of Theo's stamp on the organization, but that's going to trickle down to the minors. Theo will do whatever he has to do to get the players in here that he thinks can/will win. From when Theo took over the Red Sox in Nov. 2002 to the Sox won the 2004 WS, there were only 10 players remaining from when he took over. Varitek, Manny, Damon, Trot, Pedro, DLowe, Daubach, Embree, Wakefield, and Youkilis (from Minors) Millar, Bellhorn, Reese, Mueller, Kapler, Cabrera, Mientkiewicz, Arroyo, and their entire bullpen other than Embree were brought in from outside. So, if Theo only had 10 players from a really good team that he inherited, I think it's pretty safe to believe he's going to have less than that from a really bad team he inherited. Not to mention, it's likely NOT going to be next year that the Cubs are in the playoffs (2nd season under Theo Sox won it all). ***Note: chose the 2004 Red Sox for comparison because Theo inherited a 93 win team, his "next" playoff team was his 1st year on the job. Getting over the hump and getting to and winning the World Series I think was more relevant given the situation.***
  3. Leadoff HR from Brett Jackson. Could be 3 straight games with a leadoff HR. Hit the wall in his opening ABs in his previous 2 starts (sat a game). Vitters not in the lineup again today. Jackson hit the 1st pitch out. Then Sappelt and Cardenas combined to see 17 pitches in their 2 ABs, before Rizzo grounded into a 1st pitch double play (Cardenas walked).
  4. Don't know if I've ever seen or heard of this happening, but the Rays 1st 5 hitters all started off the game without an official AB. 3 walks, a sac fly, and a HBP to start the game. The 6th and 7th hitters have both singled. And the Rays start off the game 2 for 2 with 4 runs scored. Edit: then 8th hitter hits into a double play. So, at the end of the 1st, the Rays hitters only made an out in 1 official AB, but scored 4 runs.
  5. I wanna cry right now. :(
  6. Brett Jackson with the Golden Sombrero tonight. Ouch. Led off the game with a double off the wall the opposite way, then struck out his last 4 times. 3 of them swinging. Rizzo also struck out both times he got out. And Vitters, who pinch hit, struck out in his only AB.
  7. Brett Jackson out of the lineup for Iowa tonight.
  8. I hate to lose the UK game right now. Both teams should be pretty good for the next few years, with possibly the winning team every year being able to stake a claim for the #1 ranking the week after they've played each other. Neutral site game probably makes more sense. Neither team has trouble selling out their arena, and you could get a bigger venue with some rowdy crowds on both ends and get the school potentially more money.
  9. I'm so glad he's our QB.
  10. Technically, yes. But Rusin walked the bases loaded in the 7th with no outs and the reliever gave up a game-tying double.
  11. Awwww. You guys are so cute acting like this team has a chance at all this year. I say the more gutwrenching losses the better. #1 pick is much more likely than a fluke playoff berth.
  12. I'm sure Kerry Wood will get the first shot.
  13. A-Train totally was short on that 2-pt conversion. Oh and that 2nd link is not working for me, assuming it's the Cleveland game.
  14. Yep. Started with Rodney Culver who died in the ValuJet crash in the FL Everglades in 1996. I think it's 1 plane crash, 2 car accidents, 2 heart attacks, and now 3 suicides.
  15. Seau was one of my favorite players growing up. Played HS football against his cousin, and he apparently was at one of our games, though I had no way of seeing him.
  16. Wow. Really. I woulda sworn the boxscore has said that for about a week.
  17. Hope his middle name is Duk! If only he was an offensive lineman so we could hear about his girth, initial punch, and ability to get to the 2nd level.
  18. I think Sanzenbacher is a much better WR than Thomas or Weems. So, if Dane doesn't make the team, I'd imagine Hester would see a lot of time in the slot backing up Bennett. I think Hester may fear for his life in that situation.
  19. Any idea why Jackson has been in RF lately with Sappelt in CF? Is it because Sappelt is more likely to be called up sooner to play/platoon in CF?
  20. Please make the team! http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2012/05/NFL-Jaguars-giving-placekicker-Long-Ding-of-China-a-tryout-685310/1
  21. STop missing shots!
  22. Gibson got nailed on that putback attempt. I don't know what the hell they're doing on D.
  23. Jackson with a bunt single and an IF hit. Now 4-4 with 3 runs and 2 RBIs. Vitters and Rizzo both 1-3
  24. That is Zook. Can't win but can recruit and develop athletes. Year after having Liuget, LeShoure and Martez Wilson in the first 3.
  25. My draft would have been (no trade up): 1 Nick Perry, DE, USC 2 Rueben Randle, WR, LSU 3 Bobby Massie, OT, Ole Miss 4 Brandon Boykin, CB, Georgia 5 George Iloka, S, Boise St 6 James Hanna, TE, Oklahoma 7 Deangelo Tyson, DT, Georgia
