  1. FYI, Kyle Fuller is coming to Chicago for a visit. In Emery's 2 drafts, all of Long, Bostic, Greene, Mills, McClellin, Jeffery, Hardin have come to Chicago for pre-draft visits. So, odds are...if a guy comes to visit, the Bears are strongly looking to draft him. I think I like Fuller slightly more than Dennard at this point. Fuller's a better run defender and is very sound in his technique. Dennard has great technique but he's also a grabber and could be prone to penalties in the NFL with his style of play.
  2. I love an onion on a burger, but a burger can absolutely stand on its own without an onion. Damnit. I said end thread.
  3. Bears bringing in De'Anthony Thomas for a private visit tomorrow. Very interesting. I'm not really sure what they'd do with him. I'm assuming he'd be another slot option, because I don't think a 174lb dude can really play in an NFL backfield consistently. Seems to be redundant to Chris Williams. Not that Williams is a shoe-in to make the roster or even be good, but he's been working out with the rest of the offense in FL so he has a huge leg up on DAT.
  4. It always makes sense to have as many good players on the roster as possible. This is not like QB, where only 1 guy plays at a time. And it's not like you are paying him any significant amount of money. For the minimal investment that DLP is, it would make no sense if the Bears were like, "nah, we already got our center" and let him go elsewhere. Plus, it gives the Bears a leg up to re-sign him for 2015 (and possibly beyond) since they'll have exclusive negotiating rights with him for a while before other teams can offer him a contract. You're missing my point, I think. I am more than happy to have DLP on the roster. I don't want Garza any longer - his presence uses up precious salary cap space and a roster spot that might be utilized on a more productive player. Your point is wrong though. Garza only makes 1.5Mil. Not at all "precious". And he's productive enough to remain on the roster even if he's not starting, as he'd be a better football player than any of the backup OL on the team.

  6. Onions are a must on a burger. In order: Battered & fried (onion rings), sauteed, grilled, inside the burger, raw. But all are musts. End thread.
  7. What doesn't make sense? The Bears resigned Garza when they didn't know who would be available and what they could afford. Obviously the league doesn't view this guy as a starter otherwise he'd have a bigger contract. So the Bears lay low and get him late and cheap and he is a great backup. So now he's available in case Garza doesn't make it to game 1, or if he doesn't last the season. How does this not make sense? I'm guessing DLP wanted a long term deal and centers are undervalued right now. He's a starter. Yeah, he said he thought he'd have a long-term deal by now. So, getting to work with Kromer again is what led him to Chicago. Garza has been told his role in unchanged.
  8. De La Puente at C, Garza at RG. Long at RT is probably a remote possibility. I'd hate for them to move Long's position so quickly and Garza was worse at OG than he has been at OC. But I'd guess it's something that's on the table.
  9. Wada is the only Iowa Cub that hasn't pitched this season, so I'm guessing he gets the start tonight. Wang and Zastryzny are the potential guys in Daytona.
  10. De La Puente has never played OG in his career. He's actually a better C than Garza and only 28 (29 next month). He should start at OC, but won't. If there is an injury though, I'd imagine he'd come in with Garza going to guard. The Bears went from James Brown, Mitchell Boggs, and Joe Long as backups to De La Puente and Britton in the last couple days. Good move. Hopefully, Garza rides off into the sunset after this year and De La Puente becomes the C long term after this year.
  11. Just realized the Cubs are basically platooning at 3rd, 2nd and all 3 OF spots. Throw in catcher and the Cubs are Rizzo, Castro and a pick out of a hat.
  12. I didn't know that [expletive] even played SS. How did that throwing error look?
  13. ......And Javy is being benched today.
  14. Castro coming off a 3-hit game. Of course he moves down in the lineup. Stop jerking with the kid.
  15. Penalver reminds me of the SS from the 90s. Short, good glove, not much bat. The Rey Ordonez, young Omar Vizquel type.
  16. Hendricks getting lit up a little. Shaky defense and lack of pinpoint control killing him right now.
  17. Daytona's top 3 hitters went 11-16 with 9 RBI and 6 runs scored. Team scored 13. The ML Cubs 1-2-4 hitters went like 7-12 and scored 0 as a team.
  18. Gave up 2 singles in the 7th but got out of it.
  19. Candelario with the first Daytona HR.
  20. Almora 2-2. Torres walking people. 2 in 1 inning.
  21. "@BruceMiles2112: #Cubs starting pitchers have an ERA of 1.95 through the first five games."
  22. Unluckiest franchise in the history of sports. Its not like they are completely not hitting.0
  23. Has anyone proven that CJ can't consistently go 6? Seems like he's being handle with kid gloves because he has a teenage physique. He averaged 5.2 before coming to the Cubs last year. He did go 7 a couple times. I sometimes wonder if the Cubs are being too easy on him. But I can't blame them if they are. And I won't get concerned until he actually proves he can't throw 6.
  24. 1-2-3 for Edwards. 13 pitches, just 4 out of the zone
  25. http://www.baseballamerica.com/majors/whos-the-youngest-in-each-league-opening-day-2014/ Youngest players in each league. Baez #1 in PCL. Alcantara rounds out the top 10. Also represented in the SL and FSL, with guys u might have guessed.
