  1. There's a rumor that the Bears are talking Earl Bennett trade to Carolina for a draft pick.
  2. Slightly off topic: But I'm oddly very interested to see what kind of pro McDermott turns out to be. Any thoughts? Bigger JJ Redick? Mike Dunleavy? Insert random white guy?
  3. Hope it's to coach, ala Chris Harris. He's pretty much done. No reason to even take up a 90-man spot for him. It's funny that Emery said the defense would definitely be younger next year. So far, he's gone from DJ Williams, Briggs, Tillman, and Jennings to a year older version of all those players. From Melton (start 2013) to a much older Jeremiah Ratliff. From Wright and Wootton to the older Mundy and Young. Conte's also still penciled as a starter and is a year older than last year (obviously). The only positions that have gotten younger are going from Peppers to Houston and from James Anderson to whoever wins the job between Bostic and McClellin at SLB.
  4. Amaya, Leal, Cabrera
  5. Florida, Michigan St, Louisville, Baylor. Florida over Louisville for the NC.
  6. No way they fire Crean a year after having a top 5 team all year, even with underperforming this year, they still lost 75% of the scoring/rebounding on the team. Nor should they. Oh and Noah Vonleh is leaving school.
  7. If Virginia wins and Michigan wins...... why would Michigan get a #1 over UVA? Honest question.
  8. Yeah, I reasonably pleased with this offseason. As weird as it sounds, I actually am happy that they haven't touched Cutler's contract. Was arguing about it today, and his 22.5 Mil cap hit is huge, but by front loading that much this year on his contract, the Bears will be in excellent shape in the future. 15.5 next year. 16Mil the year after, then it's a year to year contract for Cutler, with no more guaranteed money. The Bears are set to have about 50Mil available next offseason under the cap. They'll have to sign Marshall and re-negotiate a bigger contract for Jeffery, but the rest of the offense is pretty much set in stone for 3 years....save for C, which is typically an easy/cheap find. On D, they'll have to go thru the CB, DT, S and LB thing again, but they'll be able to be in on all the big players, if they so choose. I'd like to have gone a little bigger at S and a different direction at MLB, but can't blame them for not getting into the bidding wars for the big names.
  9. If that's the case, I hope Tillman comes back. I'd rather be forced to go DT in round 1 than CB. In my opinion, CB is a position that you don't use a 1st round pick on unless you're getting a near-generational talent. I might be inclined to use a 1st at the very backend of the round on a CB, but that's my limit. I don't see one of those special CBs in this draft. It's pretty rare that you don't have to develop a CB, regardless of the round, so I'm more inclined to use lower round picks. I'd be ok with a 2nd, and even a late round pick, both being used on a CB, assuming we address a need with the 1st. Exactly how I feel. If I take a CB in the top 20, I want Joe Haden, Patrick Peterson, etc. I want a guy that has elite size/speed combination and has dominated the position in college. If not, I'd rather wait a round on a guy, because the CBs ranked in the 20-90 range are pretty much all alike. Justin Gilbert is close to the elite class of CB talent wise, but he wasn't a shutdown guy in college and really struggled as a junior.
  10. Just guessing that the Bears are waiting on Tillman OR Melton, as the last major move. First one willing to come back at their price, gets a deal. If Tillman re-signs, I'd imagine they'd go after a Pat Sims type. Someone not getting a ton of interest, and could sign a cheap 1-2 year deal. If Melton re-signs, I'd imagine guys like Tarrell Brown, Terrell Thomas, or Cortland Finnegan would be targeted on a cheap 1-year deal...maybe not even guaranteed money with the last 2. Then, the Bears go into the draft looking for the best defensive player available. DT, CB, S, LB, DE could all be in play, as all could still use 1 more body even with 2 signings from the above mentioned.
  11. I agree, other than I think they're going to draft a QB and be fine with Jordan Palmer for a year. I don't see a WR targeted. They have Marshall, Jeffery, Wilson, and now Hixon....and that's even assuming Bennett and Weems are cut.
  12. Garza (next to Cutler), Martellus (next to Garza), Alshon (next to Marshall, mostly blocked). Think the lightskinned guy is Isaiah Frey (the guy in the selfie pic too). Not sure who that is in the tanktop next to Cutler, maybe Landon Cohen? Pretty big dude.
  13. Row 1 (LtoR)- Bushrod, BMarshall, Mrs. Marshall Row 2- Marquess Wilson (eyes and nose), Jordan Mills (sunglasses) Tim Jennings is next to Kyle Long with the Braves hat on. Not sure who the people are near Cutler, the guy next to him, the girl behind him and the guy behind her...who knows? The guy with the bad dreads behind Jennings, I don't know either.
  14. Heh. We always like the same QBs. I like Savage a lot. Is Jimmy Garoppolo going to go too high? Yeah, unfortunately. I could see Emery drafting him in the 2nd though. I'd hate it, but I could see it.
  15. MD Jennings is really bad. He was the worst player on a defense that was pretty bad last year. He literally does nothing well. Their safeties produced 0 turnovers. No INTs, no forced fumbles. These are not Lovie's Bears anymore.
  16. Heh. We always like the same QBs. I like Savage a lot.
  17. First of all, the number requirements are so stupid. Why does it matter? Secondly, I don't understand why Shea has to be in the 50s as a LB? Is it because he's a 4-3 LB? Because guys like Lawrence Timmons and Aldon Smith have numbers in the 90s.
  18. Dealt with some injuries and a lot of timesharing this year, but he's a year removed from 3 straight 11 sack seasons. Does turn 33 during the season though. I think he would be a good pickup though, if the Bears develop a DE from the draft also. Give him a contract similar to what guys like John Abraham got.
  19. Sounds about right for him. Not that I blame him, I'd imagine he's one of the NFL players that has enough to last the rest of his life without being in the news for bankruptcy. I mean, how much can you really spend on Wranglers?
  20. @evansilva: New #Bills OG Chris Williams graded out as @PFF's No. 74 guard last season, among 81 qualifiers. 76th in pass pro & 53rd in run blocking. Wow, he's actually gotten better since he left the Bears.
  21. The Graham being classified as a TE situation can't hurt But...they had $1.9mil in cap space before the Byrd signing...they're going to be in cap hell for a long time. This Byrd contract has to be heavily backloaded. Here's the Saints payroll without Byrd added in (no contract details yet): http://overthecap.com/teamcap.php?Team=Saints&Year=2014 Not sure if those numbers reflect Malcom Jenkins leaving for the Eagles, but they are also expected to release Bunkley and Grubbs. Also, Sproles was still on that list. Right but, Sproles hasn't been cut or traded yet. Are they allowed to be over the cap right now? All they have to do is get Byrd to agree. He probably hasn't physically signed the contract yet.
  22. I really want the Bears to jump on Walter Thurmond III. With guys like Verner signing for under 6Mil per, WT3 probably won't cost more than 4-5 Mil. Good nickel for Seattle, that would give the Bears all kinds of flexibility. He can start on the outside, or upgrade the nickel if you draft a guy that forces his way on the field. It seems like they are waiting to see what happens with Tillman and McCown. Those moves will determine what they do at CB and the cap room they have. I'm afraid they'll miss out on anyone significant if they wait though. If they don't sign a starting caliber FA CB, they're going to have to hope for Justin Gilbert or Darqueze Dennard, IMO.
  23. Denver: LB- Von Miller DE- Demarcus Ware (assuming he signs) SS- TJ Ward CB- Aqib Talib CB- Chris Harris (who's really good) Sadly, they still won't win the Superbowl.
  24. I know defensive stats don't tell the whole story, but Tuck had 1.5 sacks going into Week 12, with only 2 games over 2 tackles after Week 2. Then he went HAM on the Redskins twice for 6 of his 9.5 sacks in the last 6 weeks. Giants fans thought he was done around midseason.
