  1. Only a 1 RBI double. Had an RBI groundout in the first.
  2. Corey Black with no walks thru 7. Only 23 of his 84 pitches out of the zone. Given up a pair of runs, but may be his best start of the year considering its the first time he hasn't walked anyone and he tied a season high with 8 Ks. Edit. His longest outing of the year also.
  3. Another single for Russell and a walk for Soler
  4. This whole thread has been about the "East is over". And I responded to a post that mentioned 3 eastern teams also.
  5. Make a few changes and it's the same BS people were saying to pretend that their team actually had a chance to compete. I know, I was one of them. Well the heat weren't unstoppable and teams absolutely competed with them. They won like 3 or 4 series in 7 games and lost in the finals twice. Clearly they were the best team over the last 4 years but many teams "competed". As far as the East was concerned, they were unstoppable. They were never stopped from coming out of the East. Nobody has claimed they will win every title. But there's no reason as of this moment, even without the Love trade, that they shouldn't win the East as long as Lebron is better than everyone else in the sport.
  6. I would think so. Bosh to Houston. Melo to Chicago. Rondo to Dallas trade is getting some whispers. Happens like that, at least the Rockets, Bulls, Mavs, and Spurs have a shot in the near future. OKC, GS, Portland and Clippers are probably a move away still.

  8. Pretty much anyone that played 3B between Madlock and Aramis. Or played SS between Dunston and Castro will do well on a hate poll. I even hated Gutierrez and he was decent for a year.
  9. The Michael Bennett Bears/Seahawks situation wasn't without drama this offseason. It did get solved pretty fast though. Tanaka situation was filled with "Cubs won't be outbid" stuff. It all ends poorly for Chicago teams though. This will too.
  10. I don't hate Barney, but those other 2 are probably high up for me. I really hate players that stay around for a long time and there's no reason they should. Theriot, Hill, Neifi, Macias
  11. Philly can take on a ton of money. They were talking about Amare.
  12. Shouldn't this have been done already. The 3rd team should've already been lined up at the visit.
  13. He's had a little more success since leaving Colorado (though he never really had worse numbers at home). He had some success in relief this year, before going back into the rotation in May. Valbuena has pretty much gone back to his previous norms average wise in the last month and a half, but is really not walking as much as he had been either. Ultimately, he'll be a utility guy and I think a 25-yo starter at best or decent reliever at worst is probably slightly more valuable. That being said, I'm pretty much with you. I'd probably do the deal, but I'd hope it would be on the table a little later. I know the ML team doesn't matter, but I really don't want the alternatives playing everyday at 3B (Olt, Watkins, Valaika?) if Valbuena is gone. And that goes for the start of 2015 until one of the young guys establishes himself at the ML level.
  14. Yeah Wade was clearly the 3rd best player in the league then (LBJ, Kobe). Bosh was easy top 10. This would be the best, a top ten (LOVE), amd a pretty good player in Irving, but not quite top 20.
  15. Alcantara homers for cycle for the game winner.
  16. Wouldn't Wiggins have to go to get Love? Yeah, rumor is Wiggins + for Love. Also, there are rumors that LeBron has reached out to Ray Allen and Mike Miller to join him wherever he goes if he leaves Miami. Not sure how that works money wise in Cleveland though.
  17. I just started a new job in April, and our office is pretty laid back. TVs every 50-75 feet. I can clearly see 2 from my desk. I have a laptop I can take home and work from home whenever I want, as long as I don't abuse the privelege. Can take breaks whenever we want. Just ask for 8 hours of work, but nobody really keeps close track (hence, I'm on here).
  18. Pretty good defensive team potentially with Stephenson and Butler at the 2-3. Deep with Taj, Noah, Mirotic, and Gasol for the 4-5. But that team isn't good enough to beat Lebron and Love added to the current Cleveland team. And after all, the rumor is IF Lebron, then Love to Cleveland.
  19. I think they could keep Rizzo, Bryant, and Schwarber (because he can't be traded yet). I don't think the Cubs would trade Castro (or that the Marlins would want his contract). So, that leaves Baez, Alcantara, Russell, Soler, Almora, McKinney as the top hitters the Cubs would trade. If I'm the Cubs, I'd like to keep Soler because of the long-term committment he's signed too. Plus, I think getting Stanton and trading an IF (or 2) would potentially leave Bryant at 3B, and I'd like to keep Soler's corner OF bat. I think one of Baez/Russell definitely would have to be dealt (I'm guessing Baez for the power to potentially replace Stanton's). One of McKinney/Almora would probably go. Probably a Pierce Johnson over Edwards because of injury history and potential. I'd hate to throw Alcantara on top of this, but he could be of some interest to the Marlins due to his versatility to play all 3 positions up the middle, where they aren't great (though Ozuna has been pretty solid in CF). Then maybe add another low level project pitcher, like Blackburn? Is Baez, Almora, Johnson, Alcantara, Blackburn too much for Stanton and a pitcher? I've been a broken record about a Russell, Almora, Soler package for Stanton. I think Miami would demand one of Baez/Russell for obvious reasons and Soler specifically because of my own suspicions that they would like a RF'er who projects to adequately replace Stanton who also happens to be Cuban which would allow them to market him to their Cuban fan base. If I'm not mistaken, the Marlins have half heartedly been in on a lot of the big Cuban FA's but gotten nowhere because they get outbid, but I'm sure they'd love to have one of these guys in the fold for marketing purposes alone. I think Russell, Almora, Soler can get it done, and there's probably not another team in baseball that would want to match that offer or could without crippling their farm system or creating a hole at the MLB level. Conceivably you deal Russell because you already got Baez, Almora because you got Alcantara, and Soler because you're getting Stanton. Maybe add one of Johnson or Edwards if they need it. I forget who (maybe TT?), but they suggested throwing in more guys to expand the deal to include Andrew Heaney, which I'm not opposed to either (but don't know if the Marlins would go that far). Also, it goes without saying that any deal for Stanton must come with a pre-negotiated contract extension in place, ala the Johan Santana deal. Either way the beauty is if they trade for Stanton they'll be amazing, and if they don't they'll still be amazing. Yeah, thought of the Cuban angle with Soler. But that's why included Almora over McKinney. But I'd probably give up Soler if I had to, I just think he's going to be a really good player.
  20. I guess I don't see the logic. 2nd best hitter on your team, All Star at THE premier position, signed affordably for a long time.....yet you're in a rush to trade him because you got a couple good minor leaguers? Maybe Castro gets traded before the end of the calendar year, but it obviously won't be for unproven, young pitching. And proven, older pitching isn't worth a trade of a player such as Castro. I see no reason to trade him before you have a productive major leaguer out of Baez/Russell.
  21. Well, I had "waiter" in the uniform category too. So, chef would be in that category. Honestly, didn't know we had any actual chefs on here. Cooks, i could see, but not trained chefs. Congrats. Pretty cool job, IMO, that I always wished I had the ability to do. There are perks, but you had better REALLY enjoy cooking or you will be miserable. It is a serious commitment while making [expletive] money for the first several years. I don't love cooking now. But I think it's because I'm not very good at it. I do love the grill, and I'm working on getting better at that. But I love the thought of being responsible for some amazing food at my own restaurant. Bobby Flay may be my hero.
  22. If Melo wants to ever have a chance to win, he needs to come to Chicago. If LeBron goes to Cleveland and they get Love also as rumored, the East is over unless there's another super team. Closest it could get is if Melo and Gasol join a healthy (and still good) Rose and Noah.
