  1. Yet now that the game is more global than ever it's somehow less talented than when there were like 4 Eastern Europeans in the league? Yep. Isn't that something?
  2. Maybe that's part of it. But the 84 draft is one of the best of all time, talent wise. And the league was already on the up in popularity.
  3. Also in 74-75 weren't there 2 leagues? The guys in the league in the 80s inspired letting pros compete internationally. It inspired foreign born players to start coming to the U.S. Hell it inspired the top 50 list to be made.
  4. How many were still playing in 84? What? I don't know? Who cares? My point is that your argument is bad because I could pick any year between 1947 and 1997 and find a slew of players from the list because we're talking 50 guys (whose careers probably average 12-18 years) over a 50 year span. Every year is going to be well represented. I wasn't trying to make a point. Just asking a [expletive] question. Calm the hell down.
  5. How many were still playing in 84?
  6. The NBA is currently the least talented it's ever been. There are 0(!!) players from the 50 greatest players ever list playing today. Glad ur back to trolling me. I missed you!
  7. Why? Who wasn't eligible for the list that would be on it if you took it to current? LeBron? Duncan? Kobe? Reggie Miller? Who else? Garnett. Chris Paul maybe. Definitely Durant ad Wade. Potentially even T Mac. There are a ton of people that would have made that list if it was created in 2007. Kidd Nash Dirk AI all would maybe make it now I'm sure I'm missing some guys. Forgot about Kidd and Nash. Iverson I was iffy on.
  8. is anyone this side of mj or lebron an established star before they play a single game at the professional level? No. What's the point you're getting at? It's not like Bosh and Wade joined Lebron as rookies. It's not like Irving and Love are either.
  9. I think it's adequate to gauge The level of appreciation for pippens game in his era. Oh sure. I was referring to the post above mine that seems to use that list as an argument as to why the 80's was the greatest era ever. So you're argument that it's not is what?
  10. Why? Who wasn't eligible for the list that would be on it if you took it to current? LeBron? Duncan? Kobe? Reggie Miller? Who else?
  11. No. He'll never get the same kind of credit Jordan does, deservedly or not. Jordan gets credit for "making" Pippen. Nobody heard of Scottie until he became great alongside Jordan. If LeBron wins 6, it will be alongside some bonafide stars. Wade, Bosh, Love, Irving are all top 5 picks that he will have joined after all were very good-to-elite players. Plus, I feel Jordan has more of a story. LeBron was always the best. As a kid, in HS, as a rookie. Jordan was cut from his HS team, made a big shot as a freshman when he was the 3rd or 4th fiddle on his own team. He was not the #1 pick (wasn't even the #1 prospect, Olajuwon was) and joined the NBA at the highest level of talent it has ever been at. Just because it's when you grew up doesn't make the 80s the most talented the NBA has ever been It's the most talented the NBA has ever been because 16 of the top 50 players were in the league when Jordan started (including the ones in his class)....and they were shortly joined by Robinson, Pippen, Ewing, and K Malone.

I agree with everything else that you said though. Scottie really gets screwed over. Hue Hollins cost him winning a title on his own. Then he would probably get the respect he really deserves. Yeah, Scottie was amazing. Jordan may have never won a ring if Scottie didn't completely stifle what Magic Johnson wanted to do offensively in that first finals series. Pippen was a top 5 pick, but he wasn't established as a star when he joined Jordan, which was the emphasis of my point.

  14. I love it when Trestman talks like a kindergarten teacher. Lol Haha my wife and I were trying to describe how he talked. She said calming but I knew that wasn't quite it. This is perfect. Talks like he knows he's the smartest guy in the room by a lot. Which is annoying as hell if you're in the room with her.
  15. Yeah, probably need to stop that. Guys without positions need to have absolutely elite bats. He has never put up elite numbers. Probably not going to at this point. So someone with a low K rate, high walk rate, and good power potential can't be sold a valuable trade chip? Valuable? Yes. Great? No, which is what I responded to and agreed with. He's slightly better than a Mike Olt type in the Garza trade.

  17. If you put Hendricks through to waivers and Colorado or Arizona claims him before Philly, then you just pull him back and put a minor leaguer in the trade. I doubt it would hamper any potential deal.
  18. FWIW, I've decided to keep Gronk. 6th round pick. We are starting only 1 RB, 2 WR, and a FLEX this year. So, gives me a chance to fill all those positions plus QB in the first 5 rounds, and have a full starting lineup (other than D and K). I haven't done a mock where Gronk gets to me in the 2nd, and I would also lose out on Vernon Davis by the time I'd be ready to pick him (which wouldn't be until the 6th). Plus, keeping Gronk gives me a chance to have a top 3 player at TE, RB (3rd overall pick), and QB (hoping for Rodgers/Brees in the 2nd round, and I've NEVER taken a QB early). I also think I can get one of the top 10-12 WRs in the 3rd.
  19. lol that's such a lie I hear his teammates felt so bad for Dunston, with his illness and all, that they all gave him hugs in the dugout.
  20. Hmmmmmmmm Hoping to give up someone lesser. While I agree, he's worth much more. Oh I agree. And my original thought was Daury Torrez. And Dunston is at a similar level of talent and at the same level in the minors.
  21. Hmmmmmmmm Hoping to give up someone lesser.
  22. Im assuming Jackson is gone. This regime has had no problem getting rid of lost causes, even if they have to eat some salary.
  23. Yeah that's where I am. I want a "proven" starter (Lester, Maeda) and a reclamation guy that's more established than Doubront, Turner, et al (McCarthy comes to mind). But Turner, Doubront, Straily and Wood have all had recent success, so a Lester would go a long way.
  24. The Cubs somehow still have 16 guys from the opening day roster on the current team. Seems like a lot of turnover in the last month. Shark, Hammel, Barney, Bonafacio, Russell, Schierholz
