  1. Paterno when talking about the fake punt. I also think that the fake punt call was more to give Michigan something else to think about next week. Paterno was still trying to win the game when it was obviously over, so should Weis have just let him get back in it? I did question the 4th down run, but that is really nothing new for Weis. When he worked for the Patriots they brought some math guy in to figure the odds of going for it in certain situations, and if it is beneficial to try to keep possession or not. He sticks pretty religiously to those findings, and this is really just a sample of that. By the way, just got back from Vegas and couldn't watch the game at the ESPN Zone because someone had rented it for the day!! Does anyone have any clue how much that would cost?
  2. Who's whining? I am pretty sure everyone one here thinks the ND deserved to drop and did not look like a #2 team last week.
  3. Really, why not? because they are Notre Dame and they won, so no voter is going to drop them Unfortunately you are wrong. There is a precedent for ND dropping in the polls after they win. I know it's possible. PSU lost a chance at the NC in 1994 because they dropped from #1 to #2 after beating Indiana (and the 3rd string defense allowed a few late scores) I forgot about that. The rankings system is college football is sooo flawed. I really don't like it at all.
  4. FSU's spread offense sucks running against fast defenses. When you only have 5 blockers its hard to set up the run. They dont know how to play smash mouth football or run 'at' people. Its all misdirection, counter, run out of the shotgun, pass sets up the run mumble jumble. Their offense has gone downhill since that one guy left for NC State. right, it's a different style, but my point is that if Penn State can't establish the run, ND will be able to sit back in a Nickel package and put their effort towards shutting down the pass I may be wrong, because I did not watch all of the game, but didn't PSU have a real tough time with the run against Akron? If so is it due to the all new OL? yes, only one returning starter from last year (Levi Brown). The PSU/Akron game was in pouring rain, so I'll be interested to see if that had some affect on the running game or not. Also interested to see this new 3-4 defense (I was in Europe for the Akron game). So unlike JoePa! Wasn't it a bit of a modified 3-4 though? I thought a LB lined up on the line, and would just drop into coverage, or rush. Also it may be raining in SB this weekend.

  6. Really? Why not? They struggled against an unranked team, while every other team killed their unranked opponents. I wouldn't be suprised if Texas and USC slipped past them.
  7. Does anyone else think that ND will drop in the polls today?

  9. I was there during bowl season. It's a nice place, but overrated. Any of the casinos showing games are just as good - and don't require you to get $10 worth of food every hour you stay there (plus the whole free drinks if you're watching the game in the casino proper). You have to get $10 worth of food there, every hour? That is ridiculous. I may just go to the sports book area in the casino to watch it then. Anyone have any other suggestions on a good place to watch it there? Food and drinks. It's not cool. I saw the Holiday Bowl for an hour and bailed, I had more fun watching it from the big screen TVs on the casino floor. Side note: Bowl season is a tremendously fun time to go to Vegas. I can imagine it would be. I was there for the Final Four this year, and it was a blast. Bowl season would be much better IMO. Does having money on the game count as gambling, in order to get the free drinks?
  10. Ahhh, I was a little off  . What the hell does that mean?
  11. What does Kansas say? Something like "rock squack jayhawk"?

  13. We are. ND. Was the idea, but Adam stood me up on it. Haha. Sorry about that. A few things about Saturdays game The defense looked good. To completely shut then out in the second half was very impressive, at least too me. I was worried that their running game was going to take the game over, but ND was able to adjust. Reggie Ball is not good at all, but Calvin Johnson makes him look kind of good. ND has a serious kicking problem. Hopefully it gets fixed before it costs them a game. ND did not look like a #2 team in this game, which I think is good. It may sound wierd but I think that them struggling is the best thing for them. Maybe they will realize that they are not as good as the media makes them sound. Quinn was off this game, missing wide open receivers, and the O-line was way to jumpy. To many false starts and holding calls (plus a leg whip call?). Luckily they will have these kinks worked out before they play a team that won't let them get away with these mistakes. Sam Young is huge. The call against Quinn for helmet to helmet was illegal. And GT got some calls from the refs as well (ball spot on Choice run, holding on McKnight), so it definately equaled out for those who think that helmet to helmet is legal. All-in-all I think the refs sucked, and called to many penalties in general. I think they will be able to handle PSU just fine. Speaking of which, has anyone ever been to the ESPN Zone in Vegas? That is where I will be watching the game at.
  14. I can honestly say that most ND fans hate ESPN.
  15. With loses to which two, PSU and Michigan? Either that or they'll beat one of those two and lose to MSU. I really don't think they will lose to MSU again this year, but I have been wrong before. I think ND may lose two this year, Michigan and some upset by a team in the middle of their schedule.
  16. With loses to which two, PSU and Michigan?
  17. If Michigan can pass the ball I think they will win that game...if they can't they lose. ND will beat USC and UCLA. I do think they will lose to Michigan however.
  18. I really think ND will win the game. I think that GT will get some big plays, and probably keep it close, but ND will pull it off. Am I correct in thinking that GT has a very inexperienced secondary? The over/under on that game is 50. I think I like the over.
  19. LOL. I was thinking about starting the same thing since ND does take over every thread.
  20. I also think this. Particularly, I think the secondary is going to be much much better than anyone's going to give them credit for due to last year's Fiesta Bowl debacle. Many of the returning starters all attended speed clinics over the summer. I am not too sure how those work, but apparently a few of the guys have shaved some time off their 40s. Plus Minter is in the booth now during games, instead of on the field. Hopefully TT's move to LB will pay off as well.
  21. I am worried about the GT game. I think ND can dominate on both sides of the ball, but I have learned not to get my hopes up. Much like with the Cubs. I also think that ND's D will suprise a lot of people this year.
  22. I parlayed BSU at -5 1/2 and the under at 52. Hopefully it keeps raining. PSU fans, will they cover with Akron, at -17? I am very tempted to take Akron in this, but I am not sure why.
  23. SEC games are the best to watch, though I love most all the college football games. If the SEC and Big Ten didnt play at the same time id watch more SEC games. I cant stand to watch the pac 10 on saturday night. The SEC saturday night games are usually pretty damn good so ill catch a couple of those games. Its about time the Big Ten adopted some saturday night football this year. I am looking forward to seeing what the Big House looks like after the renovation. Its about time they updated it. There's nothing like a primetime SEC matchup on a Saturday night, Florida/Tennessee, LSU/Auburn, etc. Nothing better. :D Lets not forget SC/GA next Saturday. Back to back national TV appearances to open the season sounds good to me. Can't disagree with that. Almost any game in the SEC is better than watching the Pac 10, Big East, or even the Big 12, for that matter. Big 10 then SEC. I would put those 2 above any other conference, in that order. Are you drunk? ;) Its the SEC and then everyone else, though this year the Big Ten is a solid second. I have to say I agree, although I typically enjoy Big Ten games more just because I live in the Midwest. I was referring to watching, not talent.
  24. That was seriously one of the worst days of my young (8 years old) life at the time. I was completely confused as to how they could lose to Northwestern. Of course, it was much easier to figure out at the end of the year. BSU opening up tonight, should be an easy one, I am intrigued to see how much Nate Davis plays and how he performs. I thought about putting some money on BSU -4. Do you think they will cover? And I erased that NU game from my memory.
  25. No fair!! ND hasn't had good opening weeks lately, plus I didn't know that was a stated rule. :D Maybe I can find the Powlus Northwestern game.
