  1. You haven't seen him running down balls fairly routinely that other center fielders don't even get to? Then you haven't been paying attention.
  2. Just when it looks like the Cubs might make things interesting for awhile, they remind us all why that will never happen.
  3. Did Counsell really just platoon pinch hit for the 2nd best hitter in the lineup, who also hits lefties and plays good defense? What the hell?
  4. I was just going to post the same thing. I don't even understand how that happens. You don't call a guy off who is camped under the ball.
  5. He is going to HAVE to if he keeps striking out as much as he has. I like Busch a lot, and his numbers are good overall, but the strikeouts are concerning.
  6. I know nothing about this Bethancourt guy, but its it possible he isn't terrible?
  7. Tauchman clearly isn't a fan of the Motorola patch.
  8. Helsley throws hard, but he has always looked very hittable.
  9. Elise Menaker as third member of the crew who chimes in on random pop culture references seems beneath her.
  10. Ok, the jersey patch being slightly reflective is really annoying me.
  11. I knew I had seen that Motorola logo somewhere before.
  12. So if Ricketts was already comfortable with spending up to the luxury tax threshhold, now he should have no problem consistently going at least $20M over, right? All the money goes back into the team, right? Right, Tom??? No response, the family must be vacationing in Bora Bora.
  13. Surely it will be awkwardly crammed into whatever sliver of open space is available, and not replacing any existing signage.
  14. My all-time favorite player is Mark Grace. My favorite on the current team is Kyle Hendricks, obviously not based on current performance.
  15. None whatsoever. My conclusions are based on a sum total of 4 at bats. There is no way I could be wrong!
  16. There is no world in which I'm happy about paying $9M for a 36 year old Hector Neris.
  17. I have to imagine intentionally limiting his usage to avoid hitting the option could lead to a grievance as well, so I suspect we are stuck with him for another year.
  18. Does either of them really have a market? I'm sure the Cubs could get someone to take Smyly if they send cash with him, but are they actually going to get anything in return? Similarly for Neris, his vesting option for next year probably kills his value.
  19. He might be, but there is no reason to think that he is. The manager still has to write out a lineup.
  20. I don't absolutely love the return, but the combination of Leiter's age and his history of forearm injuries leads me to think this was probably the right time to get rid of him.
  21. Neely is huge. I'm looking forward to the Little/Neely setup man combo.
