He is going to HAVE to if he keeps striking out as much as he has. I like Busch a lot, and his numbers are good overall, but the strikeouts are concerning.

So if Ricketts was already comfortable with spending up to the luxury tax threshhold, now he should have no problem consistently going at least $20M over, right? All the money goes back into the team, right? Right, Tom??? No response, the family must be vacationing in Bora Bora.

My all-time favorite player is Mark Grace. My favorite on the current team is Kyle Hendricks, obviously not based on current performance.

I have to imagine intentionally limiting his usage to avoid hitting the option could lead to a grievance as well, so I suspect we are stuck with him for another year. -

Does either of them really have a market? I'm sure the Cubs could get someone to take Smyly if they send cash with him, but are they actually going to get anything in return? Similarly for Neris, his vesting option for next year probably kills his value. -
He might be, but there is no reason to think that he is. The manager still has to write out a lineup.

I don't absolutely love the return, but the combination of Leiter's age and his history of forearm injuries leads me to think this was probably the right time to get rid of him.
