  1. Well done Kyle. He is going to have some games where he gets torched, and probably a few more than in the past, but he seems to have righted the ship overall.
  2. Why does it seem like the fence is 500 feet from home plate in this stadium?
  3. I know the Cubs want length from Hendricks here with the double header tomorrow, but I don't think I would push my luck. 6 scoreless is great. I would be tempted to go to the pen now before he gets in any trouble.
  4. Hendricks is making Gorman look downright silly.
  5. My wife and I planned on doing at least one road series trip per year. Then we had kids... and we didn't get very far: Wrigley Field Guaranteed Rate PNC Park (Pittsburgh) Great American Ballpark (Cincinnati) American Family Field (Milwaukee) Fenway Park (Boston) Chase Field (Arizona) + Old Comiskey
  6. I woke up this morning to a billing notification from Apple because I had apparently forgotten to cancel my free trial subscription. And now I find out the Cubs are actually playing on Apple TV+ tonight. Everything's coming up Milhouse!
  7. Coincidentally, that's what Brewer will be doing next year.
  8. He had an entire off-season, which didn't seem to help much.
  9. That feels like revisionist history. Gomes/Amaya looked like a solid catching duo going into the season.
  10. For all the problems MLB has attempted to address, this one would seem to be the biggest, most complicated, and most significant threat to the future of the game. Offense being terrible and continuing to trend downward is going to eventually affect the bottom line. Clearly banning the shift wasn't the answer, so what other levers can they possibly pull? There is the oft-mentioned but never seriously considered lowering of the mound, but I'm not sure how much that actually accomplishes. Other than that, I have no idea.
  11. Speaking of Cubs pitching prospects, do we have any updates on Horton?
  12. It's a low bar to clear, but he has been one of the Cubs most consistent hitters (albeit without much slug). He is a good hitter, just not THE guy to build an offense around.
  13. Attaboy, Busch! Hopefully we start to see more of the power again.
  14. Her voice is grating to me. I don't question her knowledge and I think she is probably a technically ok broadcaster, but I just can't get used to the voice.
  15. I wish Michael Busch would stop taking so many strikes.
  16. Early returns are in: Beth Mowins: BAD Elise Menaker: GOOD
  17. I agree that Lavine isn't going to stop the tank. They probably aren't going to be a top lottery team, but they should still be able to finish Bottom 10 to keep their 2025 first rounder. My bigger issue with keeping Lavine is that he would take opportunities away from other younger guys who "might" matter when/if the team is decent again. I would rather let guards like Coby and Ayo take the reigns and just see what happens.
  18. A few dozen more times and he'll have those 10/5 rights!
  19. At this point, I don't think anyone can be too upset if/when the Cubs go that direction. At the same time though, Brewer is a complete nothing whose performance can easily be replaced by nearly anyone on the AAA roster or any recent DFA pitcher. There is no reason whatsoever to hang onto him.
  20. Seems like a legitimate (non-quote) injury, even if it's just more of a small, nagging thing. Counsell said Hendricks' back had flared up yesterday and they thought it was better today, but he wasn't able to pitch through it. It may be a convenient excuse for poor performance, but an injury nonetheless.
  21. Because it doesn't matter with Swanson hitting behind him?
  22. In the land of the skunks, the man with half a nose is king... or something like that.
