  1. Someone just posted it in the transactions thread. Controlled through 2028 I believe.
  2. Gotta love the pitcher standing there and pointing while he forces his catcher to make an incredibly difficult catch.
  3. I would argue they didn't even do that. They really didn't touch any prospects with meaningful value.
  4. I hope he does (unless it is against the Cubs). I know human nature is to want to "win" the trade. In reality though, after the trade has been made, it really doesn't matter what the other guy does. So I'll keep rooting for Morel like I root for guys like Baez and Schwarber.
  5. Paredes has never hit an opposite field homer?
  6. That's it for me. Even if Paredes is a potential offensive downgrade, at least he has a position and keeps DH open for other options.
  7. Yeah, its essentially just a Morel for Paredes swap. Bigge is replaceable and I don't know what a Ty Johnson is.
  8. "Patrick Wisdom may have just saved the season."
  9. I learned a hard lesson as a kid when I sent Ryne Sandberg's Topps rookie card in the mail and never got it back. I was devastated. On the other side though, I did get signed cards returned from Billy Williams, Andre Dawson, Greg Maddux, and Mark Grace.
  10. It's two guys who likely were never going to matter for the Cubs in exchange for a guy who "could" matter if things go right. There's a good chance that this deal is a wash in the end and all parties involved are mediocre at best, but if I had to choose one of the lottery tickets, I would take Pearson.
  11. We went to a concert in Columbus last weekend and the parking/rideshare situation was very organized, but the post-show rideshare pickup location was across a large bridge and nearly a mile from where we exited the stadium. We gave up and paid way too much to a random taxi driver with no meter running.
  12. When did they start wearing the long spandex pants in women's beach volleyball? The appeal has been lost.
  13. I'm not sure what this means. If the point is that all you have to do is be the last Wild Card team to have a shot at the World Series - sure, that is absolutely true. But it is the Wild Card part of that equation that is the problem, being 6.5 games back and needing to pass 6 teams. Regardless of who the Cubs trade for, that isn't happening.
  14. Hendricks was a little more defiant (maybe not quite the right word) in his post-game comments last night. He basically said he pitched great, made some pitches that should have been outs, and then had one mistake for the home run. He didn't specifically call out the defense, but I have to imagine there was frustration with Seiya's misplay behind his comments. I would be frustrated too if a fielder's mistake ended up resulting in getting tagged for 6 Earned Runs instead of 0. Obivously that isn't ALL on Seiya, but the inning should have been over.
  15. That's the thing we're upset about with this team? They have 3 damn hits.
  16. For anyone keeping track (just me), Kyle Hendricks is now in sole possession of the 7 spot on the Cubs all-time strikeout list. 78 strikeouts behind Maddux for 6th.
  17. I can understand him saying he doesn't want to pitch out of the bullpen, but how exactly is he going to enforce the not skipping starts part? "What's this? The White Sox have two pitchers on the mound, with both guys refusing to leave!"
  18. That is great and all, but the best part of United Center is the ease of parking. Sure, the parking lots are run down and somewhat unsightly, but very functional.
  19. I don't think that works, because some people would re-order their lists and others wouldn't, so not really a valid outcome.
  20. This team is juuuuuuuuuust about to turn the corner. I can feel it.
