  1. That is crazy to think that Iowa Cubs can field a lineup with 5 legitimate Top 100 prospects.
  2. Yeah, the new normal where the jump from AAA to the Major Leagues is larger than it has ever been. Not that there hasn't always been an adjustment, but that the adjustment is even bigger now.
  3. Even when PCA is making outs, he is having much better at bats. A very promising development. Maybe this is just the new normal, where most rookie hitters will be expected to have an extended period of poor production while they (hopefully) adjust to Major League pitching.
  4. For some reason I still look forward to watching the Cubs play on Sunday Night Baseball.
  5. I caught part of the Marquee postgame show and Cliff Floyd was putting most of the blame on Nico for the ball that didn't get caught. I can't say that I really agree, but he said Nico was too tentative in his call, PCA was calling the ball the whole time, and Nico should have got out of the way earlier. I still feel like PCA has to recognize Nico being camped under the ball, but I guess I kind of see what Floyd was saying. PCA hesitated a bit not knowing whether Nico was going to get out of the way, and that is what caused him to not be able to get to the ball. The whole situation is avoided if PCA just allows Nico to make the play, but I can't completely dismiss Floyd's opinion as a former Major League outfielder.
  6. We can say that hopefully PCA learns from this... But it's a lesson that anyone who has played baseball as long as he has really shouldn't have to learn.
  7. Maybe the LF line in Tampa was actually 20 feet further to the left?
  8. Incorrect. He has way more range than Bellinger.
  9. And as an added bonus, we get to ensure that Neris is back next year by giving him extra appearances.
  10. You haven't seen him running down balls fairly routinely that other center fielders don't even get to? Then you haven't been paying attention.
  11. Just when it looks like the Cubs might make things interesting for awhile, they remind us all why that will never happen.
  12. Did Counsell really just platoon pinch hit for the 2nd best hitter in the lineup, who also hits lefties and plays good defense? What the hell?
  13. I was just going to post the same thing. I don't even understand how that happens. You don't call a guy off who is camped under the ball.
  14. He is going to HAVE to if he keeps striking out as much as he has. I like Busch a lot, and his numbers are good overall, but the strikeouts are concerning.
  15. I know nothing about this Bethancourt guy, but its it possible he isn't terrible?
  16. Tauchman clearly isn't a fan of the Motorola patch.
  17. Helsley throws hard, but he has always looked very hittable.
  18. Elise Menaker as third member of the crew who chimes in on random pop culture references seems beneath her.
  19. Ok, the jersey patch being slightly reflective is really annoying me.
  20. I knew I had seen that Motorola logo somewhere before.
  21. So if Ricketts was already comfortable with spending up to the luxury tax threshhold, now he should have no problem consistently going at least $20M over, right? All the money goes back into the team, right? Right, Tom??? No response, the family must be vacationing in Bora Bora.
  22. Surely it will be awkwardly crammed into whatever sliver of open space is available, and not replacing any existing signage.
