  1. Didn't something like that happen in Necessary Roughness?
  2. I can't say that I understand the rules for getting kicked out of the game, but a guy hitting the opposing player in the head multiple times should be enough.
  3. It seems like a declined unsportsmanlike conduct should still count toward a DQ.
  4. Do the Bears lead the league in illegal shifts?
  5. Was that the Thomas Brown version of the fake fumble play?
  6. Those newfangled helmets look downright silly. If they work, that's great, but can't they make them at least match the color of the standard helmet?
  7. Enough with these passes in the backfield!
  8. I'm in the "he's a pretty good punter" camp. Not worthy of a 4th round pick by any means, but accepting that as a sunk cost, he's a guy who can hold the position down respectably for several years.
  9. Marquee was a fine idea, but it came a few years too late for maximum impact. What was the alternative to make the team more money though? CSN Chicago, WGN, etc. weren't going to pay huge money to keep the Cubs rights. It is a much different media landscape now and unfortunately the Cubs existing TV deal just came up at the wrong time compared to a team like the Dodgers who were able to cash in on franchise-altering money. Personally, I would love for them to have gone the Chicago Sports Network route and put the network on free local TV, but I'm under no illusion that would have been a more profitable business model. Seriously though, don't fall for the "Marquee isn't making money" nonsense. The network probably isn't making AS MUCH money as they hoped, but the Cubs are still exceedingly profitable. They will do everything in their power to hide that fact and keep baseball expenses down while continuing to grow the family empire. Stories like the one linked above from Jesse Rogers wreak of the Cubs using the media as a mouthpiece to push the desired narrative.
  10. I wonder what the lowest draft position is for a team that has lost 11 consecutive games. I can't imagine one of those teams has ever picked outside of the Top 5.
  11. I agree that the "you have to admit using steroids" requirement to get back into the organization was dumb. On the other hand, Sammy was kind of an ass and there were other reasons for the team to distance themselves from him. But that time has long since passed and it's good that we're moving forward.
  12. It's all kind of silly, but I'm glad we can move past this.
  13. Did you miss the Bagent to Scott completion at the end of the game?? (I assume almost everyone did)
  14. I think there's a pretty good chance they don't. Next week at home against the Lions is a winnable game, as is the game at home against Seattle. And then it's possible the Packers have very little to play for in the last week. It's not crazy to think the Bears win 2 games and end up picking somewhere in the 11-12 range.
  15. There are very few players on this team who have met or exceeded expectations. There is criticism that can be warranted for almost everyone.
  16. If my math is correct, Caleb is now at 286 pass attempts without an interception.
  17. What happened to onside kicks that take a big hop into the air to give the kicking team a chance to recover it? Why do guys not kick it like that anymore? Now they just kick it on the ground right to the returning team.
  18. Odunze has been a big disappointment. I prefer my 1st round receivers don't let the ball bounce off their face in the end zone.
  19. They quit on Eberflus, but they forgot to un-quit when he left.
  20. I'm sorry but that punter getting leveled was hilarious.
  21. Good call stopping the clock down 21 points. They haven't scored a TD all night, but surely they can get 3 of them in 6 minutes.
  22. That wasn't a criticism of him, just that he looks mentally and/or physically spent.
  23. Not good body language from Caleb there. I would go with Bagent for the rest of this one
  24. That was an incredible catch.
  25. In other words, every other Bears hire for the last 30 years.
