    That was an incredible play by Swanson. On the downside, it sucks that we're back to having a closer who can't overpower guys and has to get by on grit and offspeed pitches.

    And then watch Bellinger outperform Kyle Tucker. Ok, that probably won't happen... but I can't say I'm not a little scared that it might.

    Giddy is 22 years old, so his career stats to this point may not be an accurate representation of the player he will be through his mid 20's. Do I think the Bulls are ultimately going to overpay for him and get burned though? Yes, absolutely.

    I watched the video last night of the Bulls hitting the 3 pointer, getting the steal, and hitting the second 3 pointer to take the lead. I thought that was the entire sequence and I thought "yeah, that's a pretty crazy comeback in the last few seconds." Just now I found out that I needed to keep watching to see the rest of the craziness, and that I had missed the half-court buzzer beater for the win. That was incredible.

    I disagree with JD on that one. You can't let that ball go hoping for it to go foul when there is another runner who could score if it doesn't.

    Even when those teams are good again, people move on. Some of their former audience will return, and some won't. I'm happy with CHSN as someone who gets it for free with an antenna, but the rollout has really been a disaster overall.

    Yeah, I really hope Brujan sticking around on the IL is nothing more than short term insurance for an early season Swanson or Hoerner injury, or Shaw looking absolutely overmatched. Otherwise, I see no need for him to be here.

    Right. The increase in team value has very little impact on revenues or liquid cash available for spending. When my house goes up in value, I certainly don't feel any more well off than I did before. If anything, it's the other way around because of property taxes. So, while it is great for the Ricketts family that the team value has skyrocketed since their purchase, that value doesn't become real until they actually sell. This isn't defending their unwillingness to spend on payroll. The absolutely can and should spend more. But not because the team value has risen.

    Right, but if they need a 40 man spot elsewhere (Keller?), wouldn't you rather give Brujan's spot up than put him on the IL and have to lose someone else?

    Apparently Brujan banged his elbow up a few days ago and could be heading to the IL. What would the 40 man implications be if that were to happen? Isn't putting him on the IL just delaying the inevitable?

    I would guess it is because the Cubs are only going to play 2 series against the Dodgers, 1 home and 1 away. So if you split the international games, then where do you play the domestic series?

    Yep, pretty much. I think it ended up being a very small increase in total, but a slightly larger increase when you consider you're actually paying for 2 less games.

    AND he was able to raise per game ticket prices for Season Ticket Holders while disguising the increase behind 2 fewer games in the package.

    Was there ever any other possible scenario except for the Cubs beginning the season in a 2 game hole because of this series?

    Rather than 2 teams having to get ready to open the season 10 days ahead of the rest of the league, my idea (maybe a stupid one) is the entire MLB should have an "International Week" early in the season. Pick 8 locations, send 4 teams to each one (except the 8th which would only have 2 teams). Then, for 4 days, play 2 games at each site (2x 2-game series, or even something crazy like each team plays a 3 game series and then the winner of each series faces off in the 4th game for some type of trophy). The logistics may be too difficult to have all 30 teams traveling overseas at the same time, but it would be really cool to have games on TV all day and night across the different time zones, and then at least everyone would be on the same schedule and all teams could open the season at the same time.

    It shouldn't be. But it is absolutely childish behavior, which isn't surprising. And eventually, these minor incidents will pile up to the point where his bosses just don't want to deal with it anymore.
