  1. Rather than 2 teams having to get ready to open the season 10 days ahead of the rest of the league, my idea (maybe a stupid one) is the entire MLB should have an "International Week" early in the season. Pick 8 locations, send 4 teams to each one (except the 8th which would only have 2 teams). Then, for 4 days, play 2 games at each site (2x 2-game series, or even something crazy like each team plays a 3 game series and then the winner of each series faces off in the 4th game for some type of trophy). The logistics may be too difficult to have all 30 teams traveling overseas at the same time, but it would be really cool to have games on TV all day and night across the different time zones, and then at least everyone would be on the same schedule and all teams could open the season at the same time.
  2. It shouldn't be. But it is absolutely childish behavior, which isn't surprising. And eventually, these minor incidents will pile up to the point where his bosses just don't want to deal with it anymore.
  3. It's so weird to be driving around early in the morning with a baseball game on the radio.
  4. Well, this is the archive forum. Current day game threads are supposed to go in Cubs discussions, if that's what we're still going with.
  5. Feeling the absence of Nico already.
  6. That's what I'm saying though, it "shouldn't" be Brujan or Workman. It would be dumb to have 2 light-hitting infielders on the bench. If the Cubs like Berti, and apparently they do, then there's no place for Brujan. Workman should be given the opportunity until/unless he shows he can't hit Major League pitching. And if that happens, there are dozens of Brujan's around the league waiting to take the spot.
  7. I don't like carrying both him and Berti. Pick one of the two.
  8. Gross. Awful. Disgusting. A serious team should not be looking at Lance Lynn as a rotation depth option.
  9. Why? Doesn't he have a degenerative condition?
  10. Is Coleman Shelton still around as backup Center/Guard?
  11. Everything I have read seems to suggest that this deal is going to get done, but it will likely involve Marquee getting moved up to the more expensive Ultimate tier.
  12. Can we do the PCA extension now?
  13. Someone explain the Shea Weber deal to me in a way that makes sense. I get the Hawks have to reach the salary floor next season and have a ways to go to get there. What I don't understand is the concept of achieving that through dead money. If you need to spend $8 Million, isn't there an actual useful player who would take a 1 year deal for that same amount rather than paying someone just to sit at home?
  14. I still do not understand, how did the Blackhawks dump a negative player in exchange for a promising goalie AND a first round pick?
  15. Interesting graphic. I'm curious, for the outlier hitters who are have success into their late 30's and early 40's, are they maintaining their swing speed better than most? Or are they succeeding despite their reduced swing speed?
  16. Illinois on the 7/10 or 8/9 line is going to be a team that simultaneously: is a popular pick to lose in the first round is a scary team that could be a dark horse for the Sweet 16 and/or Final Four
  17. I'm not sure exactly what their pick situation is for 2026, but I read the Blackhawks receive the 2026 pick if it is available. Otherwise, it becomes a 2027 pick.
  18. I think Workman has to make the team. They have very limited offense off the bench and his left handed bat with pop brings something that nobody else on the roster can.
  19. That's great on paper, but I think it's going to be virtually impossible to spend $25M at the trade deadline.
  20. Oh man, that's really going to sap his power.
  21. It's weird how silent everything has been, as it had previously been reported that the Marquee deal with Xfinity expired at the end of the 2024 season. If there was truly a risk of Marquee not being available for the start of the season, it seems like one side or the other would be making noise by now.
  22. They actually just needed the extra space provided by a single digit number for his last name to wrap around.
  23. Prepare for the ESPN package to be splintered across 3 different streaming providers.
