  1. 0-0 after one. Why do I have the horrible feeling that the Cubs are going to win 4 out of 5 going into the break and salvage Dusty's job for the rest of the season?
  2. I mean, honestly. Why the F is Neifi out in SS instead of Cedeno? Does Cedeno REALLY need the day off? This team makes me angry... ANGRY!!! Our 25th man is on pace for 302 at bats. Gotta keep him fresh dude.
  3. I miss Chip & Steve. Kasper is a decent announcer and seems like a nice guy, but I heard the interview today and he pretty much refused to be critical of anything.
  4. Thanks for posting this, now I can go to sleep peacefully with dreams of press conferences in my head. :D
  5. Deceiving, records can be. Let them fool you, do not.
  6. Except for the young players. Their negative comments should be punished with reduced playing time.
  7. 286-283 That's Dusty's current record as Cubs manager and closing in on .500 fast. When has a .500 record over 4 seasons and no World Series appearances ever earned so much respect? I was far from a Don Baylor fan and I can't believe I'm defending him, but Dusty Baker has had much more talent to work with than Baylor ever did. If Baylor deserved to be fired, then Baker certainly does too.
  8. Dusty just can't wait to let Miller go 120+ pitches in his 3rd start back. Yeah that was ridiculous today keeping Prior out there when he obviously had nothing left. Listening to Sports Central tonight, Steve Stone had made a comment where it was obvious that Prior was fatigued and that his arm angle had changed. How is it that nobody on the Cubs staff notices these things? Injuries aren't such a good excuse for a coaching staff when they are the ones causing them. This needs to end, and soon.
  9. Has Dusty's "opportunity to turn this around" expired yet? Barring a miracle (which Dusty Baker believes in by the way), I think he's gone at the All-Star break. His only remaining excuse is that Wood isn't healthy, but at this point it looks like he never will be. I'd like to believe that there's no way Jim Hendry will allow this to continue past the All-Star break.
  10. It's ok though, Dusty believes in faith and miracles. We have nothing to worry about.
  11. Isn't that what rehab is for? In that case, it was a success!
  12. He must still be injured, that's the only explanation.
  13. I wish just one time someone would tell Dusty to his face that he's an idiot. That person would be my hero.
  14. Rusch in to pitch the 8th... Ok, so we double switched, took out one of our best hitters in Barrett, and then took the pitcher out anyway. Dusty, you are a moron.
  15. I wasn't going to say anything, but it seemed like she was putting emphasis (or lack of it) on all the wrong words. It was definitely different.
  16. I'm absolutely floored - what's going on here? Dusty just turned his back on Neifi.
  17. If Pierre keeps this up, he could bring the Cubs a nice prospect in a deadline deal. Unfortunately I fear that if he keeps this up the Cubs will instead overpay to bring him back next year.
  18. Paxson is a guy with a plan that always looks years ahead. Unlike the Cubs, he doesn't simply try to piece a new team together each year. He has been setting this team up for a few years with smart salary cap moves and looks to follow this deal up with another future cap-saving move by trading Chandler for P.J. Brown. Maybe it's only because the Cubs are already out of the race, but I'm kind of excited for basketball season now.
  19. Cardinals are 2-8 in their last 10 games Good to see that we're keeping pace with them!
  20. Really? That's probably the first thing I'd like to see!
  21. If he is, more power to him. At least someone on the team realizes the Dust Bag has to go. I hope this is true. No matter how much I dislike Baker (which is a LOT), I would never want a player on my team who would ever intentionally lose a game for any reason. Dusty is going to lose his job the old fashioned way and I don't think he needs any help at this point.
  22. It's not that they're giving him one...it's that they've already given him one and have been waiting for the right time to announce it. They're going to be waiting a long time, considering how badly the team sucks. Maybe that's the master plan, to lose as many fans as possible by the end of the season so that nobody complains when the extension is announced. If so it's working very well, that White Sox bandwagon just keeps growing and growing.
  23. Ron Santo... too much passion.
  24. Because he is brutal in the booth. He can't even finish a complete thought without a long pause. And it was great to hear him back up Baker with the "you have to have the horses comment." Hopefully that managerial job isn't with the Cubs!
