  1. Good one. Every time there's a confrontation of some sort, Baker mysteriously doesn't see it.
  2. Wow, the Padres radio announcer is bad...
  3. Ozzie made a really dumb comment about how his son knows more about baseball than Dempster, because Dempster is only a player but baseball is his son's life. You mean to tell me that Dempster makes a living playing baseball and has played his entire life, but baseball isn't his life too???
  4. They're waiting for the next 2 game winning streak which may happen around....2010. That's exactly what will happen, wait for a little winning streak and then give Baker an extension. But does Hendry really think we're that dumb? Quite frankly, it's insulting to me as a Cubs fan. I normally go to between 5-10 games a year and I'm 100% serious when I say that I won't buy a single ticket next year if Baker is extended. I'll still watch the games on TV, but I won't spend my money on the team again until they earn it from me. I know I'm just one person, but it's still one less person putting money in the Tribune's pockets...
  5. "Dude I don't know man. Sometimes with the humidity its really hard to grip the ball.... oh and you know also the bat too. I really think we just need to you know get out of the humidity and play in some domes. Well warm domes of course. It's really hard to run in those domes if the AC is on dude." We need more Cuban players. They player better in high humidity.
  6. Following up on Len & Bob's exciting conversation... You're supposed to run in a zigzag pattern to get away from an alligator, and play dead if a bear catches you... but what happens when the bear starts to eat you?
  7. He's also got a .213 BAA and 1.12 WHIP. I like Marshall but you have to look at his game logs to put his numbers in perspective. Rotoworld correctly pointed out that he's had an exceptionally easy schedule thus far. So have the Cubs as a whole... and how's that working out for us???
  8. Take away that horrible outting in San Francisco, and his previous 4 starts have been nothing short of dominating. Honestly where would we be without him? It makes Hendry's offseason look even worse when you consider that nobody expected Marshall to make this team in the offseason. ya marshall would be a AAA I'm not saying that. Marshall has pitched well enough to be a Major League pitcher. In a way he has bailed Hendry (a little bit) out by coming out of nowhere in the offseason.

  10. Subtract the one really bad start and his ERA would be very respectable. He's coming off a game where he took a no-hitter into the 6th inning. I don't think he's a fluke at all.
  11. Barrett pegged Ramirez in the hand trying to throw him out stealing second. Teams are going to start forfeiting games just so Barrett doesn't physically hurt them. That's the only way we can win games. Good thing we're still fired up from the fight. It's showing.
  12. :?: Sometimes I just randomly yell "Take that Dusty" when I accomplish menial tasks at home. Something about it just makes me feel better...
  13. Can we combine Murton's and Jones' arms into one average throwing arm?
  14. I really hope Jones got a talk after that bs play. Knowing Dusty, he got a complimentary slap on the butt for keeping a DP situation. Lets rag on the guy who won us the game yesterday, and a few more this season if my memory is correct. He has also been our best hitter for at least 2 weeks. But no, lets get on Jones' back. Being a good player doesn't make someone immune to criticism of multiple stupid plays.
  15. from reading the suntimes and trib today it seems like hendry is going to re-sign baker no matter what happens. I know and I take that as an insult to me as a Cubs fan. If it was my job and the company wasn't performing well and clients were unhappy, the last think I would be thinking about is saving face by continuing on the present course and refusing to admit a mistake. That's exactly what Hendry is doing.
  16. He could of had ramirez at third Ramirez wouldn't even have gone to third if Jones came up ready to throw.
  17. 1-0. Charge Jacque Jones with the Earned Run on that one.
  18. It's possible. It's also possible that his arm is not in top top shape following Labrum Surgery and that excessive soreness might last a little bit longer than normal. I'm with you here. The guy has had one start back from surgery and people are jumping all over this because he's a little more sore than usual. I don't think you can expect someone to come back off shoulder surgery and immediately be 100%. Don't blame Wood, blame the Cubs organization for letting him continue to pitch in meaningless games last season. He could have been over this soreness by now.
  19. I didn't see it (or care to see it for that matter), but from what I heard the reaction was mostly positive. But then again, they were playing in Oakland.
  20. Honestly I couldn't care less about the "industry people." Is Peter Gammons an industry person? I think Steve Stone will say what he wants to say and not worry about who he's offending, and most of the time he's right. Baseball insiders may not respect him for that, but I do.
  21. Steve Stone, as well as Boers & Bernstein, think the extension is pretty much done with the Cubs just waiting for the right time to announce it.
  22. Contreras is coming off of an injury. Knowing he's probably on a pitch count, it's a really good thing we're being patient and forcing him to throw a lot of pitches. Good game plan!
