    According to The Score, DeRosa has dealt with irregular heartbeats and has taken medication for this condition throughout his life. It sounds like this is mostly a precautionary hospitilization and he is expected to be ok.

    Not if you're trying to suck as many dollars out of it as possible, a la MLB. If they really wanted to do that, they could cut down Spring Training and extend the post-season.

    It sucks that WSCR broadcasts nearly all of the White Sox spring training games, but WGN only broadcasts the weekends. I want Cubs spring baseball to get me through my work days!

    I think any reasonable person would say yes. Wouldn't any reasonable person also say that if he used steroids (its clearly obvious to you and 'reasonable' people since you can say that without a doubt) his name would have been mentioned in at least one of the reports so far. No, not at all. Just because he wasn't affiliated with BALCO or directly/indirectly tied to Radomski doesn't mean that he didn't get steroids elsewhere. The names that have been revealed are likely only a small percentage of steroid users who were unlucky enough to have their sources compromised. By no means does not appearing on the Mitchell report clear anyone of guilt.

    I just ordered Comcast basic cable with HD. The fine print indicates that I will only get the locals in HD (187-192), but this channel listing doesn't even show WCIU-HD yet. Does anyone know whether it will be available on basic cable?

    it works like that online, as well. (proxy time) Are the MLB.TV blackouts based on IP address or physical billing address? I'm going to be traveling quite a bit this spring and want to know if I'll be able to watch the Cubs when I'm out of the area.

    I've been maintaining this from the beginning about Michael Vick. If he ran a [expletive]-fighting ring, nobody would have cared. When chickens have out lived their usefulness and let out into the wild they're still just chickens. When dogs do, they kill people. I don't know, my cousin was attacked by a vicious rooster...

    I went out and bought Baseball Weekly, with the cover story being "Prior Hope... or Hype?", and laminated it thinking that it would make a nice collectable wall decoration someday. I still have the laminated cover buried in a chest somewhere, but unfortunately that is probably where it will stay.

    I realize it would never happen, but I can't believe how many people are posting that they would support this move. I've waited my whole life for the Cubs to win a World Series, but not with players like Bonds who I can't root for. That would honestly take a lot of the enjoyment out of it for me. First it was Sosa, then Baker, and I don't want another guy like that who I don't feel good rooting for.

    I have to agree with this somewhat. Part of me wants a weak NL that the Cubs can breeze right through, but the other part of me is tired of the onsidedness and would like to see the talent balanced out between leagues. Hey who knows, maybe Santana will us the All-Star game and be the reason for the Cubs having home field advantage in the World Series!

    Probably just because it's a tangible sign that the season is one step closer.Yep, it's more symbolic than anything else. There's nothing specifically about pitchers and catchers reporting that gets me excited, but it means we're one step closer to spring training games, followed by the regular season.

    I'm hurting for my sports fix right now and am counting down the days until pitchers and catchers report. With the Bears not making the playoffs, the Bulls and Fighting Illini being terrible, and the Hollywood writers strike, this is the worst down period that I can ever remember. I think I may pop in the Kerry Wood 20 strikeout DVD tonight to help pass the time.

It would seem to me that they are locking the new owner into a stadium deal in the short term, but are making it more likely that the owner will move the team in the long term. If the owner has to pay rent and doesn't have flexibility to make changes to the park, why wouldn't he consider other options as soon as the contractual obligations are fulfilled? I think people should see through Tribune Company's attempt to make this sale about keeping the Cubs in Wrigley Field, when it is truly only about squeezing every last penny out of the team.

    Link This sucks. I travel for work about once or twice per year on average and I think this will be the 3rd year out of the last 4 that I have been out of town the day Cubs tickets go on sale...

    Maybe that will sink in to people soon. I'll be curious to see whether Clemens is too arrogant to realize this.

    Clemens is attempting to hide behind his defamation suit. My guess is that he will continue to use that as an excuse not to talk to Congress, then will drop the lawsuit once the hearings are over. An article posted today on ESPN.com indicates that the players were identified well in advance, so either Clemens is lying about not knowing that he would be named or the union withheld information from their own players. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3195721

    Personally, I think he still has to prove that he IS a #2. What more does he have to do? He was probably the best pitcher on the Cubs last year. For starters, he has to win more than 11 games. Granted he had poor run support last season, but a #2 starter needs to do better than 11 wins regardless of run support. I like Rich Hill, but I agree that he still has more to prove to be a solid #2 starter.

    OOTP looks similar to a sim I used to use about 20 years ago called MicroLeague Baseball. I've been playing since OOTP3. It's a great baseball sim and online leagues are also a lot of fun. If nothing else, it helps pass the time in the offseason!
