  1. We have reached fun bad.
  2. The Nick Smith diet. It worked out great for him.
  3. Wood was advertised as one of the attendees, but I guess maybe something else came up. I would imagine that guys like Maddux and Sutcliffe were invited as well. It is too bad they weren't able to get a little better turnout from former players.
  4. Topped out at 98. I guess he is no Neil Ramirez.
  5. Hanley Ramirez just took a fastball flush on the hand and had to leave the game. Based on his reaction, he could be out for awhile. As a sidenote, as much as I dislike the Dodgers, I love listening to Vin Scully broadcasts.
  6. You would think I would remember a name like Joe Kmak, but I'm drawing a complete blank on that one.

  8. Can we leave Veras in for the 10th too?
  9. Veras is like Marmol but without the rare flashes of brilliance.
  10. Sveum would have yanked his ass 2 batters ago.
  11. Can someone please get Bosio a Segway to get to and from the mound?
  12. Passed ball? Really? Looked pretty wild to me.
  13. I am still thinking the timetable is maybe a year later than that, possible Wild Card in 2016, at which time Samardzija would be 31. That is a young 31 though in terms of number of innings pitched, so it is entirely possible that he could still have multiple very good seasons into his mid 30's. I won't be upset at all if the Cubs sign him to a long term deal, but I would certainly understand if they were to deal him for one or more top prospects. The one thing they really can't afford to do is go into next season with him still on the roster and no long term deal in place.
  14. Playing competitively in individual games and competing for a World Series title aren't quite the same thing. Really?? Tell me more. Just because they aren't being blown out of games doesn't mean they are going to be contenders for a division or world series title. Sure they have been in most of the games so far, but we are only 9 games into the season. I guess it depends on your definition of competing. I think the Cubs can potentially field a respectable team next year, but not a team that will compete for a championship quite yet.

  16. Or if he keeps pitching like this, let's trade him while he is in his prime and his value is at an all-time high.
  17. Can we get Olt a replacement Hyper Shoulder from Base Wars?
  18. How did this guy make it through the Cubs' supposedly rigorous interview process? Did they give him a pass because he had a bad hip?
  19. Hey, why not sacrifice with your hottest hitter?
