  1. Not singling you out, but this is something I hear a lot and I don't understand. I'm not a "purist" by any means, but I really can't see the appeal of a jumbotron in an MLB venue. MLB forbids the replay of close/controversial calls, so what is the allure? Enormous head shots of the player at bat? Encouragement to "Make noise"? Ad revenue is about the only positive I can imagine. Ad revenue is one part of it, but there are also many non-controversial replays that I would be interested in seeing throughout the game.
  2. This all looks great, but I still really want a Jumbotron in Left Field.
  3. Other than that, he is a spectacular player!
  4. Can't make shots so might as well start missing free throws too.
  5. Another sub-20% 3 point shooting night while the other team shoots around 50%. I don't ever want to hear anyone say again how Illinois is a good 3 point shooting team.
  6. I forgot Illinois was playing tonight and now I wish I hadn't remembered. 45-30? Really???
  7. http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/breaking/chi-hotel-near-wrigley-20130117,0,4608342.story This makes perfect sense, but it sure will be odd to see a hotel on that piece of land after all these years.
  8. I just read the same thing. So how does this work exactly? What happens if the pitcher makes a move to third but doesn't throw the ball, then the runner takes a huge secondary lead and gets caught up between first and second base and runs back to first? The pitcher just has to stand and watch him?
  9. Those are good seats. Upper Deck box are mine and my wife's preferred seats, so I was very torn when I decided to go with some nice Terrace Box seats instead. My only hesitation on the Upper Deck was that they tend not to resell as well because a lot of people unknowingly assume that lower level is always better. Then again, we probably can't expect decent resale on anything for at least another year or two.
  10. I wonder if they will keep going through the waiting list until most/all of these seats are sold, or will they just sell them as single-game tickets until this time next year? They have probably reached a point of diminishing returns where it doesn't make sense to continue burning through the waiting list.
  11. If I had to guess based on what I saw, there will still be plenty of seats available (especially Upper Deck Box). There will probably be a decent selection of Field Box down the lines too. There weren't many people rushing for the higher-priced seats. I saw a lot of people going for Terrace Reserve Infield and Outfield.
  12. I went this morning and was surprised at the sheer number of seats available. In the lower level, there were scattered good seats in Field Box and Terrace Box/Reserved and large quantities in the corners. There did not appear to be any Upper Deck Reserved tickets available, but there were huge blocks of Upper Deck Box tickets throughout the entire level. There were some areas in the Upper Deck where nearly entire sections were available. There are going to be a lot of new season ticket holders this year. What remains to be seen is whether seats will continue to turnover at a high rate or if this was a one-time occurrence due to a combination of the team's performance and StubHub brokers having their tickets canceled.
  13. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
  14. Minnesota is easily the best team Illinois has seen this year. Much more impressive than Gonzaga, Missouri, or Ohio St. Illinois' poor shooting didn't help, but Minnesota played an excellent game.
  15. What the hell is with this shooting??? If Illinois was simply having a "bad" night, they would be right in this game, but they are downright Pressey-esque.
  16. 3-point shooting: Minnesota - 7-12 Illinois - 3-18 That is the difference in this game.
  17. What a huge swing... so much for that run.
  18. Illinois is shooting 22%. Meanwhile Minnesota makes a near-half court bank 3-pointer.
  19. I picture people running through the gates like Black Friday shoppers. Somehow I doubt that picture is accurate.
  20. To be fair, he is the only Illinois player who has made a 3 tonight.
  21. Minnesota is running circles around Illinois, getting to every loose ball, and beating them down the court on fast breaks.
  22. Illinois is 2-10 on 3 point shooting. That seems to be a common occurrence lately.
  23. This #12 Brandon Paul isn't as good as the #3 Brandon Paul.
  24. I'm not quite sure how that was the call there. I can understand when a guy releases a floater and then plows the defender over, but Brandon Paul must have made contact with the defender before that dunk.
