  1. Only a single? He is broken!!!
  2. And that team is the Rays. I still can't comprehend this whole trade scenario.
  3. Umm.... Ok??? Is Jerry Angelo running the Nationals?
  4. That is what I'm thinking. Washington is already a long shot to make the playoffs. In the event they don't make up significant ground by the end of the month, it doesn't hurt to keep their trade options open by getting DeJesus through waivers.
  5. Why not just even out the leagues and eliminate interleague play altogether? For me personally, the novelty has worn off. Either go with a completely balanced scheduled across both leagues or go back to the traditional schedule with no interleague play.
  6. I assume that means Sandberg will be the new Phillies manager.
  7. Why is strategy in quotes? I don't see how you can possibly deny that there is additional strategy involved in managing an NL lineup. You don't have to enjoy it, but it shouldn't be hard to understand why someone else might prefer the less cookie-cutter flow of NL games where teams are forced to make trade-offs between pitching and hitting.
  8. Adding a DH doesn't give the Cubs any inherent advantage over an extended period of time, but for me it has nothing to do with helping or not helping them. I simply enjoy the NL brand of baseball more than the AL. I understand that some people have no desire to watch the pitcher hit, but similarly I have no desire to see a 9-man lineup continuously loop around without any regard for pitching changes and pinch-hitters in the 9 spot. I enjoy that teams need to make a decision on whether to pinch-hit for their pitcher in a critical spot or let him hit and sacrifice a potential scoring opportunity so that he can stay in the game. That is only my preference, but I don't think popular opinion has tipped quite so far to the DH side as some people seem to think it has. The "now that there is inter-league play every day both leagues should have a DH" argument has never made sense to me.
  9. Just wait for the DH in the NL. It'll be glorious. Nope.
  10. I suppose this is better than the status quo, but I hate challenge systems. I was really hoping for something a little more proactive where it isn't up to the managers to make a formal challenge.
  11. Matheny is quite the red-ass. It seems like this happens every game against the Cubs.
  12. I'm not sure what he was doing. It looked like he had no clue where we was at. He could have easily stopped before running into the wall.
  13. Not since the days of Noce and Brumley have we had such a dynamic duo like Murphy and Watkins.
  14. Well that certainly makes perfect sense. The best way to win those fans back is by slashing payroll!
  15. Of all the people to hate on for the stretches, at least he's an actual Cubs fan. A tool, but a Cubs fan. I don't even care about the stretch. I just hate that Belushi is continuously shoved down our throats as "Mr. Chicago Sports Fan".
  16. Jim Belushi... Really? This has got to stop.
  17. You do realize that scouts watch the games right? They don't simply discount a guy because they see a BS in the box score. Yes, and for the past several weeks he's been giving up bullets all over the park and getting saves in spite of it. "We're definitely stuck with him now" seems to indicate that Gregg's performance tonight is going to scare everyone away. The 9th inning consisted of a high-hopper infield single, a missed strike 3 call (with Gregg repeatedly painting on/around the corners), and a slow line drive that should have been caught. None of that is on Gregg and anyone who was interested in him before this outing should still be interested in him now.
