    I have been riding that bandwagon all along, but unfortunately I think the Cubs front office waved at us as we passed by.

    Lovullo not getting the Cubs job most likely hurts Lovullo much more than it hurts the Cubs, so I imagine the Red Sox will have a disgruntled employee on their hands if in fact he doesn't get an interview. On a related note, I was really hoping a manager would be in place before Theo's presentation this weekend, but that isn't looking very likely.

    I can kind of see where he was coming from. I'm glad the umpires got the call right, but what is the criteria for overturning a call like that? Would the same call have been made without the crowd reaction if the game was being played in St. Louis? The umpires got it right, which is the most important part, but I do think the opposing manager is justified in questioning the overturn.

    According to Mark Gonzales, Renteria is getting a 2nd interview this week. Have any other candidates been confirmed for round 2?

    I refuse to accept that Dave Martinez didn't blow everyone away. Just hire him already.

    Any news on the booth for next year? I thought Moreland's contract was up, but haven't heard a thing about it.

    He won't. He'll just take over for Adam Wainwright like Adam Wainwright took over for Chris Carpenter. Just like Matt Adams and Allen Craig took over for Albert Pujols like Albert Pujols took over for Mark McGwire. Then he will become a free agent, the Cardinals will be smart enough not to pay him big money, but someone else will and then he will suck. Rinse and repeat.

    Like this: Plz go in our favor Is it true though that the Cubs can't spend non-baseball revenue on the team because of tax implications due to the sale and Sam Zell's ownership stake? I remember hearing somewhere that the Cubs can't dedicate any outside funds to payroll until the tax agreement with Zell has run its course.

    Bruce Levine and Mark Gonzales were on with Kaplan and both indicated that they thought Rick Renteria would be the guy, but I have a hard time trusting their opinions because neither one of them had anything insightful to say. It truly sounds like Levine just makes things up as he goes. He made a comment along the lines of "many of the Cubs major league players should still be in AAA, so they need someone who can teach them at the big league level." I would like him to explain exactly who on the Cubs should still be in AAA. While Castro and Rizzo may have had their struggles, I can't imagine that any organization in baseball would still have them in AAA at this point. I have no idea why he seems to think the Cubs are rushing players to the majors, when I think they are actually being pretty conservative. They have no incentive to rush anyone at this stage.

    Oh but its just "technical". Here in baseball, close enough is good enough. It was annoying how the announcers considered a missed call a technicality. No mention of it being a bad call, just that it "technically" wasn't a tag.

    Does anyone know why Martinez would have been ruled out?

    When is the last time the Bears successfully recovered an onside kick? Gould is now 0-11 in his career and I don't recall the last time the Bears have even be close to recovering one.

    I probably would have as well, but I wouldn't be surprised if Trestman used statistical evidence to make that call. Lovie's head just exploded.
