  1. I thought it was Wick, but apparently not. We're about to find out!
  2. Nice. But are you sure we're allowed to have relievers that throw 95?
  3. Kind of surprising they gave Happ something to hit there with Schwindel on deck.
  4. Damn, nice play. I thought for sure that one was dropping.
  5. First-pitch sac fly. Wisdom 1, Irrelevant Dude 0! Make that 0 for 2. Combined with my Heyward take, 0 for 3. I'll take it!
  6. Setup perfectly for the Wisdom K followed by a Hoerner DP. Prove me wrong!
  7. 5 innings pitched, 1 run. That's a solid effort from Hendricks to start the season. Let's not get cute and run him back out for the 6th inning though. 75 pitches is plenty for game 1.
  8. More than a couple decades even... Durham, Grace, Lee, Rizzo
  9. Looks like Schwindel had a play at home rather than trying to spin and go to 2nd.
  10. It is absolutely insane that he is only 32 years old. It's like his career trajectory is 6-7 years ahead of the normal aging curve.
  11. The Cubs are playing this game under protest of the DH rule, batting their pitcher 7th.
  12. I know it isn't surprising that Heyward is starting, but it is still disappointing to purposely handicap the lineup from the start. Rivas at 1B, Schwindel at DH, and Ortega in CF would be a better choice both offensively and defensively.
  13. o/u his OPS being 700 this year? Definitely under.
  14. I was looking into MiLB.TV last night, but it's actually $49.99 for the full season and I couldn't justify that. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
  15. Whether the Lakers make it or not, it is ridiculous that we're talking about teams with winning percentages in the low 40's battling for playoff spots.
  16. MLB.com has the Cubs farm system ranked #18, which certainly seems low. Equally depressing is the Dodgers at #5. Why can't we have nice things?
  17. A player can only be optioned 5 times in one season, so I think they are saying that count won't start until May 2.
  18. In general, I think the more you spend, the more you are probably going to lose. And in the really good years, I knew people with much worse seats than mine who were able to sell their tickets for almost the same price that I was selling mine for. There is more room for profit on the cheaper seats and less risk of big losses. But it comes down to what you want your tickets for - Is it all about maximizing gains/minimizing losses, or do you want to be able to enjoy your seat? I tried to strike a balance between the two. If you go into it with the intent of going to a lot of games and enjoying your seats, then you will be fine.
  19. Listening to the Cubs radio broadcast on Saturday, I learned that the shift restrictions are NOT being implemented this year. What happened to that? It's getting really hard to keep up with all the proposed and actual rule changes.
  20. Expect it to be a financial loss because it will be even if they make the playoffs. Anything short of going to the World Series will be a financial loss, with the amounts varying from year to year. Anyone signing up to buy season tickets should go into it with that understanding, and know that the returns are only getting worse. I think a lot of people don't really understand what they are getting into. Reselling tickets is difficult and many games are almost impossible to offload. I still have all but 2 of the April games left unsold, even at steeply discounted asking prices. Enthusiasm is definitely way down, and I don't see that turning around anytime soon.
  21. Exactly. Why would a few extra weeks of spring training next season change their minds? This is clearly what they want and there is no going back now. I'm just especially disappointed that they didn't at least give us the 10th inning with normal rules before putting the runner on second. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
  22. I'm happy with the signing, but I would have been happier bringing Schwarber back on the deal he got with the Phillies.
