  1. Love, love, love this Defense!
  2. I'm fairly impressed with Benson. Solid 4-5 yards every carry. As I type, he fumbles. Blame it on me. Or Rex.
  3. Nice pass, Rex. Even nicer spot!
  4. Isn't that more Bernard's fault? The DB read it fine, but Berrian looked lost. Oh, well. At least the ball's at the 3. Bears could pick up 2 here!
  5. Surprise! Mulder getting shelled. Maroth's turn tomorrow. Cards 3 back 24 hours from now?
  6. My dad just called me (lives in Normal) and said the Busch Stadium radar has Mulder throwing 95. I Call Shenanigans!
  7. That was just stupid. I mean, I like it, but just stoopid. Say what you will about Soriano, but you don't run on his arm. Almost Ever.
  8. BS. Out, plus who didn't see that coming!!!!! N/M Tie goest to the runner. But still - who didn't see that coming!!!?!?!
  9. Can we start the russel Branyan hate now?
  10. When does Mulder come back for them? If this week, that just seems too soon. I haven't even heard about his rehab starts or anything. Anybody can be better than Reyes. That guy's been just awful. I'm actually surprised they didn't try to pick up Traschel before we did. Or maybe Hendry's pick-up was just a block so STL couldn't get him!
  11. This is something I've just never understood. I'm a bid dude - Prince Fielder Big - and played the OF/IF corners all my ball-playing life (through HS). I can move well, but just can't slide well. Never have. My slides have always resembled a jack-knife pool dive. Whatever the reason, I just could never do it. Just like Shaq can't shoot FT's. Why does the 2B/SS have the "right" to throw it through your teeth? Why does he "own" the airspace between the second and first base bags? There is no rule that instructs or suggest slides. It's stupid not to, as it gives the runner an advantage, but if I don't slide, I'm doing nothing wrong. Why should I take it in the teeth, Vance. It's a pretty arrogant point of view, and go ahead and hit me once. I've only got, what 6-8 front teeth you can knock out. If any middle infielder does that, I can kick his ass out every singe time I run into you at 2B. And I won't even bother sliding. I'll just plain Albert Belle his ass. Once one throw hits me, I've got nothing to lose. That 2B has his life and posterity.
  12. Well said. Is it still okay to hate him?
  13. the truth is hes older and abusing performance enhancing substances most likely, so its not really suprising Wow. That's a post full of truths right there.
  14. We're not getting our hopes up for a healthy Mark Prior, are we? Pardon my realistic/cynical opinion in all the rainbow-y, lemon fresh optimism. But whatever kind of injuries he's had, he's gotten lots of them. Unless the contract is very small (like less than $2 mil), I don't want to waste any more of this organizations time, money, or resources on Mark Prior. I question his desire, but beside that, I just think it's a bad investment. Nice immediate returns, but bleeding ever since then. I'm sick and tired of the Cubs organization, and some if its fans, getting their hopes up on Prior.
  15. Edmonds came to St. Louis as his career was peaking. He hit sort of well in California, won a Gold Glove or two, then came to St. Louis and was protected with some big sluggers for his peak careers. Don't think he's the ideal example. Plus, he really sucks now. Eckstein and Kennedy won a WS as the DP tandem for Anaheim. I have a hard time thinking that they sucked, especially as what they're doing in St. Louis is pretty much what they've always done in their careers. No Kent Bottenfield? Isn't his "goodness" the one that started this whole mess of Cardnial pixie dust?
  16. After 645.3 innings in three years, it is unreasonable to think maybe his injuries are behind him? Considering that he's not going to pitch until 2009, I'd say that's pretty unreasonable, yes. I think he was just saying after a guy averaged over 200+ innings for 3 years, it would be relatively safe to assume he would be "fully recovered." Then again, assuming health in any pitcher is dangerous. But after 3 healthy, Cy Young quality years, you could have reasonably assumed he was back to normal health. Still not surprising, though.
  17. Reason #11: We play in the NL Central!
  18. Why are we all getting so excited over WAIVER CLAIMS?! It means nothing when we claim a player who is worth a damn, as a trade is very unlikely. Hell, ARod could be put on Waivers, and every team would put in a claim. Doesn't mean a thing.
  19. You want Prior to come back as a AAAA power hitting corner OFer? I think he's saying that he wants Prior to have some balls. Ankiel's a great story, but probably won't pan out long term. Regardless, Ankiel has shown tremendous heart by coming back from his public humiliation, plus his crack-head of a father making life hell. Ankiel had a lot of excuses to quit, and nobody would/could blame him, but he still made it back to the show, and earned his way up. Sure which mark Prior had that kind of heart.
  20. Yup that contract sure looks like a disaster right now huh? 1 start 5 ip wow...After all my Card fans friends have given me crap about Wood and Prior though, I sure as hell dont feel sorry for the Cards, and keep tryin to tell myself not to laugh, but its hard. You can't really laugh at a guy getting hurt. What people laughed as us for was the remarkable silly injuries, swearing every spring "they're gonna be healthy THIS year!" and then being dicked around by our coaches or doctors about the health of those pitchers. I don't think people laughed at the actual guys getting hurt (except for a few Sox fans), but the manner in which those injuries were dealt with and recieved by us. Including myself. Laughing at a guys injury makes you a pretty foolish person, and you also put yourself on Karma's bad side. Good luck with that!
  21. Klesko is so far off the plate he's practically in RF!
  22. This isn't a horrible trade. The worst part of it will be the decline at defense behind the plate. At least Hill and Bowen called a solid game and were capable defenders. Espcecially considering the hell that was Barrett. Kendall will help the offense, but hurts the defense. Throw in the money not being too bad (>$4 mil), the little we gave up, and the prospect that we could have a decent #2 or 8 hitter. It's an okay deal, but won't win the division.
