  1. Sorry. It's not your fault I'm a dumbass.
  2. If you know math so well, you understand that 10+ stints on the DL, missed starts, etc, is a far better predicate than 2 consecutive starts (against the worst teams in the NL). It's called math, people. i don't think you get it. No, I don't. Please Explain.

  4. Right. Because we don't know what happens next. Are you in denial? Do you not see a patern here? If we have a patern repeat itself 5 times, isn't that a pretty good indication that it will repeat again?
  5. This is going to be a rough month to get healthy against, too. We play nothing but tough ass teams, and he won't fool them like he (almost) did the Nationals and Marlins. He got away from those 2 games with *only* 7 runs, but that will be a good day if he pitches against the Reds, Cards, Sox, Astros or Tigers.
  6. I agree. Dude's just good, and he's being accused. It's terrible, but I think it's the way the game is going to be played from now on. You can be fast, hit for average, pitch till your 55, but sluggers won't escape from this scandal for a long time.
  7. McGwire's abnormal build, now deteriorating body, acne, numerous personal accounts of steroid use, use of andro (a known masking agent for steroids), and complete disappearance from the public (topped with that silly 3/17 "testimony") suggest a lot more than just Pujols' being good. I know we'll disagree about Mac, and I don't intend to hijack the thread with discussion. I just think the dark cloud hanging over power hitters is a shame, and due to what those Big 4 - if not more - did.
  8. The fact is, any slugger from here on out is going to be accused of juicing. AP is one of the "nicer" guys in baseball, and if he's being accused, anyone will. It's the state of the game, and until they start testing for HGH, nobody will take testing seriously. I still don't get this hate that Cubbie Rich has for AP. I can't stand the 3 bombs he hit off us in the "Pujols Game" or how he's always good, or how he seems to carry himself with a bit of class (even though he's not exactly charasmatic) despite his talent. But I respect how good he is, just like I respected Isaiah and Patrick Ewing. Sure, he's getting cocky, but he's a pretty good guy and seemingly hard worker who's always improved. Just get over it, please. You're acting like a total baby. Pujols, nor anyone, will get a birth certificate or anything because a pissed off internet message board poster is asking for it. Thank you, McGwire, Raffy, Sosa and Bonds for ruining the image of any slugger from here on out. We apparently can't trust anyone
  9. When did this conversation turn to ARam?
  10. Wow. I'm confuse. But then again, I am pretty stupide. No, I don't watch more Sox games. I don't need to be reminded about pissed off I've been since they won the WS. I have 450 MS students to do that on a daily basis, and don't need more salt in the wound.
  11. Cubbie Rich... huh? Shut up and play ball? How often do you hear him mouth off? Pujols is becoming a huge star - almost the major start - in MLB; of course he'll be answering more questions, thus we'll hear more. And do you honestly think a player of Pujols caliber would flat-out criticize Bonds? As much as I would love DLee or somebody to call him out, it won't happen. Team's PR guys, the Union, and logic forbids any sane person from doing that. And since we're talking about trades, throw Edmonds in that Pierre/Rusch for Pujols/Carp trade. Albert Belle is due for some Cardinals pixie dust soon, so lets those Cards free up a spot for a future Cardinal hero! :)
  12. Sure, the Pujols BOMB helped expose Lidge, but even worse was having Scott Podsednik hit a walk off in the World Series. If Scotty Pods can blast you, and a broken ass Nomore can blast you, you're done.
  13. Then it must be true.
  14. You're an idiot. Despite Sammy's disposition for "enhancing" his performance, he didn't hit it over the socreboard. The CF wall is 400 feet. NO WAY is the tiptop of the scorebard 465, not to metion the trajectory of hitting it that much higher. It would take a shot much longer than 465 to clear it. Nobody's every hit it over the scoreboard.
  15. He hit one over the center field scoreboard. I think Sosa once hit a 500-foot HR on the fly down Kenmore Ave. What, are you on crack? Over the scoreboard? I remember Sosa hitting it, but going over it is like a 600 foot shot. I don't think that's been done.
  16. No, it isn't legitimate. If the Cubs can't beat the Twins, Braves, and Sox, then they have no business being in the playoffs. Those are potential opponents, and they have to beat those 3. If they're good enough to win the WS, they'll beat those teams. If they're not and lose to 'em, then the October heartbreak is saved and we can waste time prognosticating the Cubs offseason towel-throwing schedule.
  17. Nah! It's be much more fun to beat the Cards in the NLCS and the White Sox in the WS!
  18. I agree with the Armor and AS game rules. I like the DH in the AL. I think it's fun to watch something different, but I certainly don't want it in the NL. I like how the two styles of play have developed. I really wouldn't do much. I think commissioners who go into the position with an agenda simply piss people off and screw things off (a lot like Presidents!). The biggest part of it is reacting to and solving problems. I'd just do that, and I'd be good at it, too.
  19. Red Sox/Yanks. Oops! The Mets/Yanks are fun, too. But so is Yanks/Cubs, Cubs/Red Sox, and on and on and on.
  20. Oh the original message! The road trip is a joke. It's ridiculous that we get hosed like that, and I have noticed that it's gone on the last few years. Is it tradition? I know the Bulls and Hawks have done forever because of the Circus, but why us? We complain every year about the interleague/NL match-ups. It's a moot point. Schedule makers have no idea who's going to be all that good, let alone are they worried about making sure each team is playing as fair a schedule as the other 29. Sure, if we lose the division by a game, and it's because of a close loss to the Twins and a blowout win by the Cards over the Rays, I'll wonder about it. But then we just need to beat the Twins. We should really stop worrying about who other teams are playing. If we kick the Cards/Central's ass like we have been, then this won't even be a problem. Why do Chicagoans piss and moan about minute things like this?
  21. Then you'd be a bad commisioner. It's great to see more Cubs games vs. great Central teams. Granted, they haven't been all that good lately, but the rivalries that exist with Pit, Cin, StL, and Hou, are all great fun to watch. I understand Hou is a new rival, and even Mil is growing into one, but I'd MUCH rather watch those 5-6 teams duke it out, no matter how bad one is. I don't think I'm alone on that. You can redesign interleague play, but eliminating it would be a mistake. I could care less about the Rays-Brewers Series' but Sox/Yanks, Cards/Royals, Indians/Reds, Nats/O's, Sox/Cubs, Yanks/Dodgers, Giants/Yanks, Giants/A's, Dodgers/A's, Angels/Dodgers Series are great fun to watch, and build/enhance Rivalries.
  22. Why hate so much? I agree, MET, that this is all a bit silly. We sound like Sox fans here. In fact, I think all of the newer fans that the Cubs have the last few years (since the Sammy era) bring most of the hate. Real fans don't have to hate on other teams. Just enjoy the Cubs, fellas! I do love beating the Cardinals, though!
  23. I fixed it for you! He may actually be praised for the later.
  24. You had them beating Duke? I like UNCW, too, but that seems a little outrageous.
