  1. there was no one on base, Griffey was the 1st man up this inning. and yet another HR. Give me a BREAK. And there has to be at least two guys on base for it to apply.
  2. Somebody has to get knocked down now.
  3. Dickey's got an excuse though. He's trying to reinvent himself as a knuckleballer. I think he gave up those six dingers in like three or four innings.
  4. He wouldn't get to hit against Cubs pitching though. Williams up in the pen.
  5. I once saw Walt Terrell hit two HRs in the same game against some nameless Cub pitcher I wouldn't call Ferguson Jenkins a nameless Cubs pitcher. Maybe it happened twice. I wouldn't put it past the Cubs. Believe it or not I looked it up. Terrell did once off of Jenkins in 83.

  7. Jones seems to be handling RF at Wrigley fairly well.
  8. I don't think Hendry resigned Glendon Rusch. I think he resigned Shawn Estes.
  9. My guess is it involves a live chicken and candlesticks.
  10. Because he is the Smartest Man in Baseball and wants everybody to remember that?
  11. If the Sox played the Cardinals in a World Series, I'd root for the Cardinals I'd root for a bomb scare. Not sure when my hatred for the Cardinals reached the level it is at now. Part of it is they've got guys who are so easy to hate: Edmonds, Carpenter, LaRussa, etc. I'm of the opinion that Edmonds needs to get knocked on his can at least once a game. The team I've absolutely hated as long as I can remember is the Mets. I wish they were still in our division. Cubs had some absolute wars with them over the years. Especially in the mid-to-late 80s.
  12. Jimmy needs to get a beer dumped on him next time they're here. I remember when that used to happen to Lenny Dykstra at least once a season.
  13. Considering that the game isn't until tomorrow, I doubt it. Sarcasm escapes some people.
  14. You mean when he pulled a no-no and slid into first, like hairston did all last season... The bat flip was annoying too. It wasn't that far out. If it had stayed in the park and he only got a single out of that b/c he was pimping it, I'd boo him. For what it's worth he does that fairly regularly, or at least he did with the Twins.
  15. Looks llike a two-tiered bullpen in right-center.
  16. Maybe one of the RF regulars needs to show up with a Jacque-O-Meter on Tuesday.
  17. I really like what the Cardinals have done with their bullpen.
  18. Terry Craft clearly has money on this game. Either that or he is a galactic incompetent who has no business on a major league diamond. Take your pick. It's one or the other. There is no way a plate umpire can watch an outside pitch and the bat at the same time.
  19. Anybody listening on the radio updates please. Comcast has lost the signal.
