    He had no chance of getting to it, but the skip over the puddle and the hilariously bad throw won't endear him to any Cardinals fans any time soon. He was afraid he'd slip on the ice.

    Do you need to ban a guy who pretty much banned himself? Yes, because if he cleans up his act, I am sure someone would be willing to give him some sort of job at some level of a major league organization. I just dont think he should get to even sniff that possibility. If he cleans up his act why shouldn't he have the opportunity to work for an MLB team?

    We were 4-14 against the Mets in 1985. They flat-out owned us that year. That was back in the glory days before the NL Central. The Mets were probably more hated as rivals than the Cardinals. People your age will probably never appreciate the hatred people my age and older hold for the Mets. A lot of it has gone away since the Central was added, but I still remember those days. I miss having the Mets in our division. It was not a friendly rivalry. It was worse the Cubs-Sox or Cubs-Cardinals now. Partly because the Mets of the mid-80s had so many guys who were so easy to hate. Remember the brawl at Wrigley in August '84? If I recall correctly it started with Ed Lynch drilling Keith Moreland. I still remember Bill Robinson having to be restrained by Mets players to keep him from going into the stands after a fan. I think that's when people started to believe we were going to win the division that year. God I hated those guys. Good times.

    Which guy wasted more natural talent? Dwight Gooden or Darryl Strawberry? I'd have to say Gooden. I'll grant you Strawberry was a legit five-tool guy but if Gooden keeps his nose clean he retires as one of the two or three best pitchers ever.

    A-freakin'-men. "Working the count" isn't an absolute necessity for every single player in every single at-bat. If you have a good idea of what a guy likes to throw and you're looking for a certain pitch in a certain spot and you get it on the first pitch, hack away. Especially late in a game, when the pitch counts people seem to think mean everything in baseball nowadays, mean less than absolutely nothing.

    I'm not worried about the pitching. Z will be fine so there's no worry there. I figured Rusch and Williams were going to suck so there's no reason to worry there either. :?

    Don't blame Cedeno. Freel shouldn't have been at third in the first place. Of course this probably means Neifi starts on Friday.
