  1. Edmonds in the Hall of Fame? Only if he buys a ticket. This may be the funniest thread title on this board.
  2. I've been out of pocket for the last few days. What's the deal with Hill possibly starting on Wednesday? I haven't seen anything about him having been called up.
  3. Somebody else alluded to this but it absolutely drives me nuts when Baker pulls a double switch when even he knows the pitcher is only going to throw one inning. And given the fact Baker almost never lets a reliever throw more than an inning it makes it even more maddening.
  4. The Genius's High School Harry Act is really wearing thin.
  5. The look on his face after the throw was priceless.
  6. Reinsdorf owning the Blackhawks doesn't sound so hot either.
  7. It's his first appearance with the Cubs, I'll cut him a little slack. If anything it looked like he was overthrowing. Too hyped up probably. Plus, either he or Novoa will be back in DM when the first pitcher comes off the DL.
  8. Dear Jerome: Please earhole Edmonds. Just because. Yours in baseball, LoneStar
  9. Every time I see Cardinal fans referred to as the "Best in Baseball" it makes me chuckle because it's so off base it's hilarious.
  10. I guess you weren't watching last night. Mabry was already out of the game. Walker HAD to move to first base. Either Neifi and Hairston was coming in. If I recall correctly, Neifi saved a run by knocking down a ball that was headed into centerfield at one point. Might have been that same inning.
  11. Yep. This could wind up being a season-changing win, in a good way. No chance last year's team finds a way to win a game like that.
  12. He put his hand out, palm first, like he was trying to push Furcal or brace him. His hand got bent backwards so there could be some ligament damage which would be a problem, or he may be lucky and just be really, really sore for awhile. Wrist injuries, as somebody said, can linger for a long time. Rest is the only way to really heal it. Ideally he'd be DL'd for 15 days and come back ready to go. Let's not rush to accuse the Cubs of hiding something regarding this injury please. The guy just got hurt late last night. They aren't hiding anything because there isn't anything to hide. Why would the guy the Cubs signed to be their back-up 1B rot on the bench? Mabry's going to play. Neifi's not going to move to 2B full time while Walker plays first. Even Dusty's not that dumb. Now, Neifi or Hairston may start at 2B Friday since Mulder's going but Mabry's going to play 1B. If you want to worry about Neifi, be concerned about the fact that Cedeno is probably about two weeks away from losing his starting spot if he continues to have problems throwing the ball.
  13. Yes they can but it would be a short stay without them. If properly used, this bullpen will hide enough rotation problems to win what is a division full of flawed teams.
  14. If I ran that team I'd drink too.
  15. I wasn't aware eye-liner was considered a steroid.
  16. Under because he wouldn't get to hit against Cubs pitchers.
  17. Much like Carlos Lee a year ago, Dunn needs to get earholed.
  18. Dusty's love affair with lefty-righty match-ups is Bayloresque in its idiocy. Absolutely no freaking way a lightweight piece of garbage like Perez should be starting at third base when Mabry is available.
  19. Or Hairston could just strike out and end the suspense.
  20. At what point does the lions' share of laying down against dog teams like Cincy, Pittsburgh, etc. fall on the shoulders of the manager? Dusty's supposed to be a master motivator. Performances like this should not continue to happen. Absolutely no excuse for it.
  21. Pat just said Dusty wanted to give Mabry a start in Pittsburgh. Gee, no reason to do that today and keep suckboy Neifi on the bench. Mabry could have hit right-handed and done a better job than Dusty's pet.
