  1. I don't think I saw Colvin not swing at the first pitch once this spring... He probably shouldn't be skipping levels.
  2. I know of Darkhorses and Brick Houses.

  4. He settled for a pay cut. I doubt they hold a grudge.
  5. Wow, Jacque hit that ball harder than he'd ever hit one off a lefty in his life.
  6. To be fair, Carpenter was under contract cheap for the next couple years. Basically he signed a three-year extension for what his market rate would be, IIRC.
  7. I'm thrilled with Dempster in the ninth. That frees up our better relievers to pitch in higher leverage situations.
  8. Ben Sheets and his 2004 line of 264 SO and 32 BB in 237 innings would like to disagree.

I'd rather hold Reyes, as Sheets is an injury concern. Does anybody have any opinions about my offense?
  10. Agreed. After throwing out my back, I can barely even think about deadlifting or squatting. That was about five years ago.
  11. I picked him up in my fantasy draft a few days ago. I'm hoping he makes up his mind soon.
  12. I'd move Zambrano up to the 7th spot.

Only one person is throwing more than one reliever per week, and Putz is just as good a bet as half the guys they're throwing to pick up saves. Besides, there just wasn't any value using a pick on BJ Ryan or somebody when guys like Ben Sheets were on the board. Putz is having an elbow problem right now. Might want to consider picking up another closer. He's gonna be back for opening day. Failing at that, these guys left Chris Ray, Brian Fuentes, Joe Borowski, and Todd Jones on the wire. Pick up Ray, do it quickly. Why? Putz had better k/9, bb/9, and hr/9 ratios. Not only that, but PECOTA has Putz pegged for a 3.35 ERA next year, whereas Ray is pegged at 3.99. I'll take my chances in the first few weeks of the season with Putz, cause the rest of it shouldn't be a contest.
  14. None of that is true. I heard an unconfirmed rumor it might or might not be opposite day.

  16. True... But it makes it a lot more encouraging given that he was the hitting coach for the Oakland A's. He also did a very good job improving plate discipline for the Mariners and Pirates, IIRC.
  17. I'm certainly all about it.

Actually, I went second. The first guy picked Howard. FWIW, we get 4 keepers after each year... that part of why I went so young.
