  1. he was good for a month or so one time . . . His .314/.391/.636 line over 153 games in 2000, and his .309/.385/.572 line in 141 games in 2003 are pretty darn good, especially when you factor in his plus defense.
  2. Brackman really needs to turn it around, or else the Royals will draft Wieters.
  3. I'll wait to judge that when we find out what Moore gets us in a trade. Does anyone know if Moore is going to play shortstop for Iowa this year? It's probably a lot more likely that he splits time between 1st, 3rd and corner OF. Personally, I'd like to see what he could do at 2nd base but with Patterson there it's unlikely to happen. It'd be real nice if they could find him some time at SS, but I'd settle for getting him plenty of time in the corner infield and outfield spots. It'd be real nice to have a left handed power bat that could fill in at quite a few spots.
  4. I still think he'd make an excellent platoon partner for Jacque in right.
  5. Wookie related comic... http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2001/11/26 One swear word, otherwise I'd just put the comic in the post... oh well.
  6. But if you even do blow out your leg, you'll still get plenty of opportunities to come back and get paid. I don't really see it (waiting out another year) as too big of a risk. But either way, $25 MIL+ is way more than I would need in a lifetime. You may be right, but there is always the threat of significantly decreased production or a career-ending injury. For me at least, that slight chance of a catastrophy is worth sacrificing that Enzo.
  7. Before or after the attack by rabid wolverines? Before, during, and after. If there's a delay, there's a chance we see Kerry Wood throwing. They pushed him back til tomorrow supposedly because there weren't enough innings... well, Hill will get pulled if this game gets delayed more than 15 mins, I'm pretty sure. Joe Girardi laughs at your pansyosity. I think even Girardi wouldn't take unnecessary risks with a young pitcher who's shown a lot just to keep him in a spring training game.

  9. I'm calling it now. Mark Prior will be struck by lightning.
  10. Giles must have pissed off the ump on the crappy call on that 2nd strike, cause that 3rd one was even further off.
  11. I am extremely pleased overall with Prior's outing today. He's still got a lot of work to do, but those last two innings felt almost like 2003.
  12. I agree. This is a huge improvement over his previous starts. A few more starts and he could be ready to pitch for the Cubs. Knock on wood, you fool! You'll jinx us!
  13. Well, seeing as how they almost certainly know about this place, it would probably be a bad idea to state exactly how many times you're voting. They could pretty easily discount all those.
  14. I'm sure when you're still only making league minimum in a profession that does not have a long shelf life for employees, that first large guaranteed contract looks that much nicer. It takes you from being a potential insurance salesman in 20 years to retiring. If it were me, I wouldn't have waited a year either.
  15. There's a spy... $20 says it's Raisin.
  16. I'm willing to take my chances on A-rod with that... From what I understand, the Yankees are only on the hook for 48 over those three years, with the Rangers picking up the rest of the tab.
  17. playing that well where? 2nd, because DeRosa has moved into a platoon in RF / super-sub role. Na, in my dream that position is filled with The Riot posting a .375 OBP and hitting in the #2 spot. :D See, I have us trading Theriot straight up for Santana in my dream.
  18. What's so funny about Cherry Strawberry?
