I have a bad feeling about every game. I get that same feeling - must be just a holdover from last year. Has anybody mentioned that according to Gameday the wind is blowing out to left at 20 mph? It also has DeRosa playing instead of Theriot.
Disagree, I like Jones better against a RHP. vs. RHP Floyd: 2002 - .306/.420/.544 2003 - .305/.394/.535 2004 - .269/.373/.512 2005 - .290/.382/.533 2006 - .266/.342/.423 Career - .281/.368/.496 Jones: 2002 - .333/.372/.580 2003 - .317/.342/.492 2004 - .258/.310/.465 2005 - .268/.348/.466 2006 - .303/.358/.528 Career - .295/.343/.493 If you prefer Jones, I'm assuming you think Floyd is done after his injuries last year... because he's been obviously superior to Jones against righties for his career and in the recent past. If they are healthy, there is absolutely no question that Floyd is likely to be much better against RHP.
Elsewhere, in the White Sox - Indians game, Aardsma came into the game with the bases juiced and nobody out. He struck out the side to get out of it without allowing any runs. But at least we've got Neal Cotts.
I don't mean to sound like Dusty, but Floyd is just too damn slow for the 2 spot. is there some event i'm not aware of where the 2 spot hitters compete in a 100 meter dash or something? why does it matter if the 2 hitter is fast? he won't be doing any running in front of lee and ramirez. i'm fine with theriot starting, but i wish it was at the expense of izturis instead of derosa. I didn't say he had to be fast, I just think he shouldn't be slower than Barry Bonds. And that's mainly so he can get from first to home on a double, which I really don't think Floyd is capable of right now. In order to go from first to home on a double, one must get on first base beforehand. Floyd is much more likely to find himself in that situation.
I don't mean to sound like Dusty, but Floyd is just too damn slow for the 2 spot. Considering the relative lack of singles and walks from Soriano, I'd say there probably isn't a better place in the lineup to put him. It would minimize the incidence of GIDP out of him, helping to maximize his value to the team.
Personally, I'd flip-flop Jones and Floyd. I don't know why people would rather have Theriot batting second than Jones, though. Honestly, if you have to choose one player to give the possible extra plate appearance to, I'd rather it be the one that's more likely to produce. Like it or not, Jones is still a better hitter than Theriot.
22 years old, and I'm not a big fan. However, I am a true believer that if you believe something is helping you do well, taking it away will hurt you... even if only for the psychological impact. For that reason, and that reason alone I had to vote that I like the blues. I simply don't want Zambrano to get upset about not being able to wear what he wore in all his good years and have a bad one as a result. Pinstripes are amazing, I don't think there's a better uniform in the bigs. The Greys are awful. Something really needs done. I'd love to see a Navy Blue road jersey.
Cameron was also batting third today for the Padres. He's a criminally undervalued player, not only from a fantasy perspective but in the real game too. And I picked up Piazza for my league too. He may not produce as much on a per plate appearance basis, but he should have a lot more plate appearances to even it out. Got him in round 15.
My pitching staff has been wicked so far with King Felix, Ben Sheets, Jake Peavy, and Brett Myers. Myers has easily been my worst pitcher, and he went 7.2 IP, 9 SO, 3.52 ERA, and a 0.78 WHIP. I can live with those numbers.
Huzzah? Don't get me wrong, I'd like any advantage over the Cardinals... but at the same time I'd like to legitimately take the division, without cards fans being allowed to say "well if carp weren't hurt..."
I think Zambrano should get grandfathered in and still be allowed to wear the blues for his starts. Everybody else will have to settle for the pinstripes and an updated road gray.
I liked them solely for the fact that it gave the pitchers a chance to control their superstitions by focusing on which jersey to wear when they start.
