    Ned Colletti : General Manager :: Dusty Baker : Manager Ah, to ponder what we could have gotten for Maddux had Hendry demanded prospects instead of Izturis. Probably not much seeing as he was not at all an "A+" pitcher, and it was only for the later half of the season. You never know; Colletti isn't a genius... I don't know... how many teams do you know that are actually in position to get better when players go down to injury?

    Why? Cheaper and much higher upside? It's not going to be cheaper unless we trade Ward. Durazo probably has a higher offensive ceiling, but his skillset ages quickly, he was beyond awful last season, and he can't do anything with the glove at all anywhere. He didn't play at the major league level last season, IIRC. Recovering from an injury. Ward's mobility hasn't impressed me much either... and his bat is looking putrid to this point. I'd honest rather pinch hit Cedeno in a crucial situation, and I think that's enough of an indictment of his abilities. Durazo has at least shown a sustained ability to hit at the major league level. If we're going to be attempting to catch lightning in a bottle with a bench player, I'd rather do it with the one that has a better chance.

    Erubiel Durazo just got released due to the Walker signing. I wouldn't mind him instead of Ward.

    No, he really doesn't. I wouldn't be surprised if I found out 80% of his limited strikeouts are of the looking variety. Ha, nice trivia question.

    Murton has been getting pretty big leads this spring. I like it.

    I'm not gonna lie, I do like the fact that Murton might be on the bench sometimes. It's a great sign for our offense that it isn't clear-cut he should be getting every at bat in left.

    I count 17 wins in that scenario. I think we have a good chance to significantly improve on that this year.
