  1. Who is this person?? The only person who ever seems to fit people's definition under this is Ivan Rodriguez. Pudge is only much of a hitter against lefties now. Against righties he's a 7 or 8 hitter. About the only relatively available catcher I can think of who's above average with both the glove and the bat is Greg Zaun in Toronto... and he's only above average with the glove by a slim margin. Mauer and McCann both fit the billing too, but they're gonna be in their respective organizations for a long time.
  2. It's a free ride when you've already paid.
  3. Lou really needs to cut the damn double switches out.
  4. Oh man!!! ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
  5. Uh... he definately leaned into that one.
  6. I don't know where he is, dickwad, but I do think Pagan is starting because Lou doesn't want Jones facing the lefty Hamels, plus Jones needs a couple days off. Awww, you're such a sweetheart.
  7. Where's synergy tonight? I haven't been called a "dickwad" since yesterday.
  8. Did Hamels really try to pick off Murt three times in a row or is gameday buggered?
  9. I've got Hamels and Hill throwing for the fantasy team tonight... If the final score is 1-0 and both pitchers go 9, striking people out at the same rate, I will be absolutely thrilled.
  10. Nope. I don't get the game on TV. If you get CSN, you should get CSN+... they just do a really bad job telling you its provided.
  11. It just occured to me I've had clothes in the dryer for a couple hours now. Probably should go get em... After Hill throws.
  12. Soriano seriously has to swing and miss more than anybody else in baseball. I really don't know how when he makes contact, it always seems to come off the sweet spot... like that one.
  13. What was awesome? Side note: While typing this the jackholes at insight fixed my cable, huzzah!
  14. how were your finals? Craptastic. I'm just glad to be finished with them.
  15. The game isn't on the channel set aside for CSN+ and I've been on hold for over five minutes after spending five minutes navigating their impenetrable system. Jackholes.
  16. If anybody has tickets to the June 4th Yankees - White Sox game, you need to take a "Fire Dusty" sign.
  17. Why wouldn't he?
  18. I should hope so. People see a young lefty that's been just good enough to make it to the big leagues. With any luck they don't see the injury concerns and the low ceiling. With the way people over value lefties, his perceived value is probably a lot higher than his actual value.
  19. Where did goony post in this thread? I thought he got banned. He wasn't banned. The good twin just killed the evil one.
  20. Have you ever had a measured reaction to anything? They called up Pagan because they assume he will hit LHP because he is a switch hitter yet was horrible vs. lefties last season. Again I say, this organization is a complete joke. I'll take that as a no. Please, inform me and my un-measured reaction, why calling up Pagan is a good move? He hits LHP no better than Pie, and is fraction of the defensive player that Pie is. If Pagan hit LHP well than I could see it. The key to the move is sending Pie back to AAA to play everyday. Pagan is far from ideal. But Pie had to get off the bench. Of course. There is no reason to have the Cubs best prospect sitting on the bench when he needs to be getting regular at bats. He was clearly overmatched at the plate at the major league level so starting him regularly would have hurt the team. Pagan is going to be a part time player and like you said, he has hit LHP pretty well in AAA this year. It's the right move to make. I don't think you can say Pie was "clearly overmatched" when the only thing clear was that he wasn't getting enough PA to get going. I think he wasn't ready. He took one walk in 49 at bats. He was doing well in this regard in AAA and then when he was called up he regressed considerably. It's a small sample size, but he was really bad when he was here. I'm not gonna debate that Pie was not looking great in his limited playing time. He wasn't. But jumping to the majors is just like jumping from A to AA or AA to AAA... there's an adjustment period involved. The guys who burst onto the scene as fully formed major leaguers are few and far between, guys like Miguel Cabrera and Albert Pujols. For everybody else, it takes a while to make the adjustment. Pie simply wasn't getting enough PA to get it done.
  21. Theriot singles up the middle. A runner on with 2 outs for DLee.
