  1. My Lineup Prediction: Soriano, LF Pagan, CF Lee, 1B Aramis, 3B DeRosa, RF Bowen, C Theriot, 2B Izturis, SS Marquis, P
  2. I'd still rather see if he could stick in the rotation than get 3-4 IP out of him a week.
  3. Good god. Z is looking fantastic. I, for my part, regret ever doubting the man when his velocity was down.
  4. Be careful. His six kids with five different women seem to indicate he doesn't like to play safe.
  5. One could argue that's what the Barrett trade was. That was tossing deck chairs off the titanic, because they thought the deck chairs were weighing the thing down. Very true. Unfortunately, we may have tossed off the wrong chairs. We got rid of the boat anchor, unfortunately the ship has already run aground. Which anchor did we get rid of? Izturis, Jones, and Eyre are all getting paid more than Barrett was, for half the production... combined.
  6. Puhleaze. I'm moderately entertaining occassionally to people with no sense of propriety, but the second I see your avatar, I know I'm gonna see one hell of a post. Still, it does feel good to be noticed. *swoons*
  7. My opinion of Ed Lynch just went way up. I think he and Hendry were pretty equally bad as GMs. They both hired idiot former players to manage (Baker and Baylor). They both built the same piecemeal teams hoping over-the-hill vets would return to their glory days. They both got lucky once, and each time it was mainly due to the offensive production of a single player, Sosa, a tremendous contribution from a rookie pitcher, and some overachieving veterans. The 98 team had a lot better offense and the 03 team had better pitching, but neither were, in my opinion a particularly well put together team. The 03 team was better because at the end of the day, great pitching wins more games than great hitting. Studies have proven that isn't true... but whatever.
  8. Can we blame Hendry for bringing in an inept manager like Lou? Cause that was a pretty horrible transgression.
  9. If this was based on humor, I would've been eliminated in the 1st and def. by Treeman. I have the sense of humor of a walnut. Obviously... saying chestnut would have been much funnier.

    SS Issues

Looks solid... but what does your pitching look like? SP - Felix Hernandez SP - Rich Hill SP - Matt Cain P - Chien-Ming Wang P - Tim Lincecum RP - J.J. Putz Bench - Andrew Miller No, Hall had been scuffling. He's been coming on real strong lately. And I've got more than enough HR from all my other spots... so Manny's abilities outside HRs are more helpful to me.
  11. Hell, I'd rather have him in right than Jacque. Pick him up!

    SS Issues

I found a better alternative. I traded Adam Dunn and Cole Hamels for Bill Hall, Manny Ramirez, and Andrew Miller. This is my offense now... C - Joe Mauer 1B - Albert Pujols 2B - Howie Kendrick 3B - Alex Rodriguez SS - Bill Hall LF - Manny Ramirez CF - Vernon Wells RF - Vladimir Guerrero UTIL - Travis Hafner Bench - BJ Upton How freaking sick is my damn offense now? Howie Kendrick, Bill Hall, and Vernon Wells are my worst players.
  13. sac fly I wouldn't mind giving up the out if I knew we could excecute a sac fly...............however we probably can't. That's giving up two outs.
  14. Maybe Pie would have hit a two run dinger if he hadn't had to waste a strike on a stupid bunt attempt.
  15. I do not like this umpire's strikeout motion.
  16. Stop freaking bunting in the first damn inning.
  17. i'm in a good mood, so i won't bust out the eye roll I'll do it for you. Ok you convinced me - he has looked outstanding both behind the plate and on the basepaths Do you consider Manny Ramirez a bad baseball player? In true Joe Morgan fashion I will tell you no I don't but I don't watch Manny every day either. Having said that Manny OPS+ 129; Barret OPS+ 80 - I believe that gives Manny just a little more room to make gaffes in the field and on the basepaths. Not to mention Manny is a LF while Barrett is a catcher Um, that hurts your argument. Manny makes boneheaded plays and costs lots of runs in one of the easiest defensive positions. My point is the reasoning for calling Barrett a bad baseball player(always you said, even when he was putting up great OPS+s) was bad baserunning and bad defense, which Manny certainly trumps him in. Is there any stat that shows how much each player's defense costs their teams? Because, IIRC, when there was talk of Manny being traded, many on this board were posting stats showing that Manny really wasn't that bad in the field, and that his defensive lapses were overblown. Either way, it's pretty worthless to compare Barrett to Ramirez. Totally different players at different positions. You can use the DT translations, though they aren't that accurate. And the Dewan +/- system and Probabilistic Model of Range have trouble with the Big Green Monster.
  18. Does anybody else get the irresistable urge to shove Paul Sullivan into a locker every time they see him?

Not to mention Manny is a LF while Barrett is a catcher Then why does Manny cut off throws in CF? Bottom line: Manny's gaffes are much more blatant and disastrous than Barrett's. Blatant and Disastrous Gaffes Statline for both, please. Throws cut off in CF (Manny) - 1 Throws cut off in CF (Barrett) - 0

  21. You're assuming Hendry isn't a dumbass. And you know what happens when you assume...
