  1. Weaver is either finally gonna break out of his slump and shut us down for 7 innings, or he's gonna give up 7 in 1 2/3... there's no in between.
  2. Ummm... Molitor is in the HoF. And while Whittaker got almost no support, his numbers are HoF worthy, as are Robbie Alomar's and Barry Larkin's.
  3. Bruce, I don't suppose you're lurking around with a lineup?
  4. While I know you don't like Barrett, will you at least admit that he's the best catcher of our available options (including Blanco once he comes off the DL)?
  5. Fantastic news for the A's... bad news for those of us praying Cubs upper management would finally get a clue.
  6. Small sample size. We all know the man has prodigous power. He's got five 30+ HR seasons and two with 45 HR.
  7. Great, we're already fake rallying in the first.
  8. When will these darn kids learn to stop accessorizing?
  9. I could swear I saw Lou laughing out there...
  10. Ha! A passed ball and a WP already... Yeah, this was a great freaking idea.
  11. They better knock in a lot of runs with their gloves, cause our offense sure isn't gonna have much luck scoring any with their bats.
  12. =D> \:D/  It's a bit early to be that drunk. I mean, I've never been so drunk that I thought Hill going 0-4 everyday was worth it for a moderate upgrade on defense.
  13. I don't understand why some people refuse to vote in a player worthy of the HoF just cause they don't want him making it in on the first ballot. I can understand if you're legitimately torn on a case... but Biggio is a no-doubter Hall of Famer, and there's no reason at all he shouldn't be voted in on the first ballot.
  14. Soriano should have been put in RF and Murton in LF. Soriano has the skill set for RF much more than Murton or Floyd does. Agreed. And signing Floyd was a terrible idea from the get-go. In theory, there was nothing wrong with signing Floyd. He could spell Murton against the really tough righties, be a top pinch hitter, and DH in interleague play. The problem was trusting Lou to be able to maximize the utility of his players.
  15. While at this point it was probably necessary to move Murton to AAA to help build his confidence back up, I am absolutely appalled at the way Jim Hendry and Lou Piniella created this situation. Their firing is far past due.
  16. It was tied up before I voted.
  17. Flames laughs at some of my crappy jokes. +1
  18. OMC seems like an exact clone of one of my best friends, so he's got my vote.
  19. The trick is to watch the game at a bar. If the Cubs start making you pissed off, you've got music, booze, and women around to distract you.
  20. I like this one the best...though with Murton leading off and Soriano batting 5th. I'm also getting sick to death of Michael Barrett. I wish we had a catcher that could play defense and hit just a little bit. He costs us way too many games defensively and stumbling around the bases like a drunken sailor. At this point I'd just as soon Hll catch everyday. Z seems to like him. A catcher who could play his position well would be nice, but playing the AAA catcher over a guy who has consistently been a very strong hitting catcher over the last three years is ridiculous. Even at defensive positions like catcher, offense is more important than defense, and Barrett's bat is finally starting to pick up again. And just how many more games can we let Barrett cost us? His mistakes are far outweighing his bat. Barrett isn't going to cost us any games... cause Blanco would cost us even more. Barrett's bat is still worth the tradeoff.
  21. There is absolutely no way he doesn't deserve to get in to the HoF.
