There are a very few experiences in my life that I thoroughly regret. When I'm by myself and the thoughts happen to wander to those experiences, I always find myself screaming curse words. Thankfully, this doesn't happen often... but I always wonder if the neighbors have ever wondered if there's a guy with tourettes next door.
One could argue that's what the Barrett trade was. That was tossing deck chairs off the titanic, because they thought the deck chairs were weighing the thing down. Very true. Unfortunately, we may have tossed off the wrong chairs. We got rid of the boat anchor, unfortunately the ship has already run aground. Which anchor did we get rid of? Izturis, Jones, and Eyre are all getting paid more than Barrett was, for half the production... combined.
Puhleaze. I'm moderately entertaining occassionally to people with no sense of propriety, but the second I see your avatar, I know I'm gonna see one hell of a post. Still, it does feel good to be noticed. *swoons*
My opinion of Ed Lynch just went way up. I think he and Hendry were pretty equally bad as GMs. They both hired idiot former players to manage (Baker and Baylor). They both built the same piecemeal teams hoping over-the-hill vets would return to their glory days. They both got lucky once, and each time it was mainly due to the offensive production of a single player, Sosa, a tremendous contribution from a rookie pitcher, and some overachieving veterans. The 98 team had a lot better offense and the 03 team had better pitching, but neither were, in my opinion a particularly well put together team. The 03 team was better because at the end of the day, great pitching wins more games than great hitting. Studies have proven that isn't true... but whatever.
If this was based on humor, I would've been eliminated in the 1st and def. by Treeman. I have the sense of humor of a walnut. Obviously... saying chestnut would have been much funnier.
Looks solid... but what does your pitching look like? SP - Felix Hernandez SP - Rich Hill SP - Matt Cain P - Chien-Ming Wang P - Tim Lincecum RP - J.J. Putz Bench - Andrew Miller No, Hall had been scuffling. He's been coming on real strong lately. And I've got more than enough HR from all my other spots... so Manny's abilities outside HRs are more helpful to me.
I found a better alternative. I traded Adam Dunn and Cole Hamels for Bill Hall, Manny Ramirez, and Andrew Miller. This is my offense now... C - Joe Mauer 1B - Albert Pujols 2B - Howie Kendrick 3B - Alex Rodriguez SS - Bill Hall LF - Manny Ramirez CF - Vernon Wells RF - Vladimir Guerrero UTIL - Travis Hafner Bench - BJ Upton How freaking sick is my damn offense now? Howie Kendrick, Bill Hall, and Vernon Wells are my worst players.
