  1. I don't think so. It was just a procedural move to allow the Cubs to bring up Womack without derostering somebody else. It won't delay Prior's return (since he's already missed the 60 days).^^^^^^^^^^^^^ And Serana, Prior does get MLB service time. Time on the active roster, 15-day DL, 60-day DL, or barevement leave is MLB service time. Same w/ suspensions, so Barrett will get MLB service time while serving his suspension. Thanks. I don't even remember where I read that.
  2. Sounds good -- thanks for making the effort!
  3. Kudos to Let'sPlayTwo for stopping a seemingly endless losing streak.
  4. People caught some earlier discrepencies, but Scott GF himself seems unaware of his changing fortunes in the HR derby. I'm just very appreciative that people are posting updates!! :wtg: I have a prize in mind for the Neifi Perez HR Derby Consolation Prize ... but I need vance's go-ahead first ...
  5. Yeah not good. Wasnt wood around this too when he rehabed? Wood today was throwing hard, maybe Prior can follow his path of success. If I remember correctly, Wood's velocity in his start at Peoria was around 93-94 mph. I think you're correct. Wood was slower in his following Iowa start, which was cold and rainy. I just don't know that Prior can get extended out pitch-wise and get velocity back over the course of 3 rehab starts, which seemed to be the original plan.
  6. Well, Prior's velocity is indeed a concern.
  7. Just a couple of notes on the matchup in case anyone's interested -- I edited the broadcast info into the first post. Kane County is the Oakland low-A affiliate. There are 14 teams in the Midwest League. Here's the link to sortable team batting stats. Kane County is first in team average (.269), second in OBP (.353) and 5th in slugging (.375). It is a low-A team so they aren't polished hitters for the most part, but it's one of the more likely low-A teams to make you throw strikes. Kane County won Sunday night, so Peoria is now 1.5 games behind them for the Western Division lead. Finally, Jesus Valdez of the Chiefs has a 19-game hitting streak, tied for 3rd longest in Chiefs franchise history, going into tonight's game.
  8. Uh oh! And Bay is helping you as much as me!

  11. First time in a long time that Truffle hasn't held the lead.
  12. If they skip the fifth spot due to the off-day, they could bring Ryu back up next time through the rotation. By then he will have been down the required 10 days. Other options would be to bring Williams, Hill, or Guzman back up, or to call up Marmol from West Tenn and see what he can do. Starting Rusch is NOT an option; he's proven time and time again, both as a starter and a reliever, that he can't be used in anything but mopup duty this year. I hate the skipping-the-5th-spot routine under the current circumstances: (1) rookie pitcher coming off an injury-shortened season and who hasn't thrown more than 95 innings professionally or in college; (2) one-sore-armed pitcher returning from shoulder surgery; and (3) one 40-yr-old pitcher who hasn't been pitching well recently (Maddux can throw his innings, but how often do you want to go to a 4-man with him?). Z will say that he can throw hundreds of pitches every other day and he might have to if this keeps up. Even though seeing Rookie #5 take some lumps is painful, I'd rather see that than running the current arms ragged for no good reason (unless you consider a desperate attempt to cobble together two wins in a row so that they can announce Dusty's extension a "good reason").
  13. :-k No, he didn't start Saturday .... but maybe that's a good sign that he's close to a rehab assignment. Did Miller start in a rookie league game on Satuday? Maybe he did, I didn't hear about it if so. That might explain the mistaken Peoria reference.
  14. If he's on the normal 5-day rotation schedule, then Prior should be pitching in Peoria again on Saturday night (June 3) vs the Ft Wayne Wizards. It's also Nerd Night with Myron Noodleman! That should put him on a schedule to start on the 8th in Iowa vs Round Rock (with the Famous Chicken attending). :-k No, he didn't start Saturday .... but maybe that's a good sign that he's close to a rehab assignment.
  15. Except now there is no hope as long as these clowns are running the circus.
  16. Maddux might try to sneak back into the Braves' dugout between innings.
  17. It's hard to find a good brat on the road? Welcome to the forums!
  18. Ha, UBlink, I saw that picture on Daytona's web page and thought it was hilarious!
  19. Welcome to the forums! Cubs fans here want to see the Cubs win. Some think that a protest (or boycott or whatever) might bring the point home to upper management and the Tribune Company that changes need to be made. There's no one unified viewpoint on the subject.
  20. Ouch, two tough plays lead off the bottom of the 1st in the Peoria game, and Clinton takes a 1-0 lead. Clinton's Smith hit a flyball to left-center which Valdez caught ... but then Gregg and Valdez collided, Valdez's glove was knocked off, and the ball got behind them and went for what was scored a triple. The next batter singled on a sinking line drive to LF that Valdez dove for, but wasn't able to catch.
  21. Unfortunately, many people who wanted to go to a weekend game this summer had to buy their tickets back in February.
  22. Here's the Peoria Game Report. Thanks, Nathan! Chiefs Blow Three Run 7th Inning Lead, Lose 5-4 Valdez hit streak at 17 Clinton, IA – For the second night in a row the Peoria Chiefs blew a 3-0 lead and lost by one run, 5-4 to the Clinton Lumberkings at Alliant Energy Field. In the 10th inning, KC Herren led off with a double and went to third on a single by John Whittleman. After a strikeout and an intentional walk, Jose Vallejo hit a comebacker to Matt Avery for an apparent force out or double play. But Avery’s throw home was wide and went to the backstop as Herren scored the winning run. The Chiefs jumped on top in the 5th inning with three unearned runs. Robinson Chirinos was hit by a pitch and then went to third on an errant pickoff throw by starter Kyle Rogers. Chirinos scored on a fielders’ choice off the bat of Davy Gregg. Gregg stole second and scored on a basehit by Jesus Valdez to make it 2-0. Ryan Norwood doubled to the wall in center to scored Valdez for a 3-0 lead before Rogers got out of the inning. Chiefs starter Donnie Veal took a no-hitter into the 6th inning before John Whittleman doubled into right-center. Whittleman was thrown out at third on the play so Veal still faced just the minimum through the first 6 1/3 innings. With one out in the 7th inning, Jose Vallejo tripled to right-center and then scored on a basehit by John Mayberry to end the shutout. After a wild pitch, Veal walked Freddie Thon and got Truan Mehl to flyout. With two down and two on, Terry Blunt doubled to left tying the game 3-3. Matt Avery relieved Veal with a runner on second and gave up a single to KC Herren. The throw by rightfielder Jesus Valdez was right on the money and catcher Jake Muyco applied the tag but somehow the home plate umpire called Blunt safe at the plate for a 4-3 Clinton lead. Norwood led off the 8th with a single and was lifted for pinch runner Jonathon Mota who advanced to second on a passed ball. After a groundout sent Mota to third, Alberto Garcia singled to right to tie the game 4-4. Veal allowed four runs in 6 2/3 innings while not giving up a hit until the 6th. He picked a runner off and caught another one stealing. The lefty walked four and struck out five in the no-decision. Avery took the loss with an unearned run in the 10th. The right-hander allowed three hits and struck out two in 2 2/3 innings. Pepsi Player of the Game Donnie Veal (SP) – Veal is now the strikeout leader for the Cubs minor league organization with 65 strikeouts. He didn’t allow a hit to the 6th and faced the minimum through the first 19 batters. Playoff Watch With 23 games remaining in the half the Chiefs are in the Wild Card spot in the Western Division. They are 2 ½ games behind first place Kane County and started the day 3 ½ ahead of Burlington for the Wild Card while the Bees were still playing Beloit Friday night. Notes… Jesus Valdez singled in the 5th inning and now has a 17 game hit streak, tied for 5th longest in franchise history… Clinton has won three games for the first time this season…RH Scott Taylor (1-2) faces LH Zach Phillips (1-3) Saturday at 6:00 PM…The broadcast begins with the pre-game show on http://www.peoriachiefs.com at 5:45 PM.
